She gasped for air, heart pounding furiously with each step. The cold and polluted air burned the back of her throat. With each step she took a puddle of water splashed up. It was difficult to maneuver but she had to continue. Émilienne's target was just ahead of her, slipping and sliding through the decrepit alleyways on Nar Shaddaa. "It'll be a whole lot easier if you let up love!" she shouted. Of course she didn't expect her target to just turn himself in but one could hope.

Prior to this chase, Émi sat in a tavern booth scrolling through the Holonet. A recent news article regarding Blackwell was all over her feed. She didn't really seem to care, but hoped it had nothing to do with her older brother. Ashe scrolled an alert popped up on her phone. Émi subscribed to this program which keeps her updated on new bounties. It was a green twi'lek male, who happened to be on Nar Shaddaa. "It seems the galaxy is in my favor tonight.. She couldn't help but notice that the man looked familiar. Upon closer inspection of the given photo, the realization suddenly struck Émi and she turned towards the bar. She looked around frantically; the subject was working behind the counter just a moment ago but disappeared.

Émilienne turned towards the sound of the front door being open. In front of her eyes was the green twi'lekian making a mad dash out of the tavern. "Bastard!" After setting her drink down, Émi hast rapidly exited the tavern to pursue her target.

[Hanto Re]

Hanto intended to pursue his mark tomorrow, but the Force had its own ideas, it seemed. He was just about to try out some spice, but it would have to wait. He had his reservations about the substance besides. Without further ado, Hanto left his temporary room and headed into the streets, where the persistent itch in the back of his head led him.

Life of a bounty hunter was different from that of a sith, and Hanto liked it. He relished in the absolute freedom: no master, no missions, only him and whatever job he wanted.

The Force rang, and Hanto turned his head in the direction of the pulse. There was the bounty he intended to pursue the next day. Hanto ran a hand over his cropped hair and flexed his neck. His muscles tensed — and he sprung into action, his trusted blaster flying into his hand.

"Go faster, brat!" Hanto grinned and immersed himself in the sensations of the hunt. The green-skinned twilek would do for a distraction and a quick cash grab.

[Émilienne Chéreau]

As the chase continued, someone's voice rang out from a distance. "Was he yelling at me or the twi'lek?" Émilienne asked herself before bringing her focus on the target ahead of her. Reaching into her coat pocket she pulled out one of her vibro repulser blades and hurled it towards her target. Just as it was about to hit, the twi'lek turned the corner causing the blade to smack directly into the wall. As she continued her chase she recalled the blade back to her, eventually turning the corner herself to see the twi'lek run through a crowd of people.


Émilienne used her grapple to scale up the nearby wall and use the roof as a vantage point. As she peered into the street she spotted the green twi'lek making his way north. The streets were too occupied for Émi to get an accurate shot off so she decided to continue the chase from the rooftop in order to keep her eyes on the target. She sprung from roof to roof, making sure to keep an eye on the twi'lek. A press of a remote button clipped to her belt signaled her surveillance droid to arrive.

Don't lose sight of him!

Upon her command the droid made its way down towards the street in pursuit of the twi'lek as well.

[Hanto Re]

Hanto felt daggers fly by him as he chased the twilek. Ho, was that competition? His grin got a little wider: twice the struggle — double the fun. The mark turned the corner, and the vibroblades dug into the nearby wall. Hanto spared a moment to look at the competitor and glimpsed a feminine figure in a high end coat.

The twilek made it to a crowded street before Hanto could catch him. That was annoying, but life of a mercenary would not be half as much fun if every prey walked eagerly to their demise. He leapt up one of the lower balconies and from there, to a nearby rooftop. That height presented no challenge for a sith to cover in one jump, but Hanto could not very well announce his force sensitivity to the entire street.

The vibrancy of Nar Shadda hid the twilek from sight, but it could not save them from the Force. Hanto took a breath and focused on the image of the prey.

Yes! There!

His head snapped in the direction of a fast food joint. Hanto had never been there, but he could bet the place had a back entrance and the twilek intended to use it to escape to the back alleys unseen.

”Fiesty, just how I like it,” Hanto smirked. “Speaking of…“

He focused on the memory of his apparent competition, and the Force guided his gaze to a moving figure. The rival bounty hunter had also decided to make use of the rooftops.

Hanto smirked and leapt towards the fast food joint.

[Émilienne Chéreau]

Émi witnessed the stranger that called out from before leaping onto the rooftops and toward the target effortless. "Bloody hell who is this guy?" She started to use every ounce of energy she could muster to sprint even faster to catch up. She noticed the twi'lek heading into a restaurant, and the other hunter was hot in his pursuit. There had to be some way she could make up the distance.

As she ran Émilienne scanned her environment to find something of use. Due to her lucky rancor's toe, a large construction crane oversaw the street. She paused right in her tracks, sliding just a little bit across the metal rooftop. With her grapple gun in hand she aimed towards the 'jib', the long horizontal part of the crane, and fired. The metal hook launched outwards pulling the rope along with it, eventually wrapping around one of the beams. Émi gave it a few tugs to make sure it was secure, fastened the wench to her belt, and leaped off the rooftop.

Her plan: make a grand entrance. She swung through the street like the arachnid-man on old holonet cartoons use to do and crashed right through the glass windows of the restaurant. Émilienne tumbled and rolled across the ground, covering her face as to protect her eyes from broken shards of glass. Quickly recovering herself, she unclipped the grapple from her belt and pulled out her blaster. The twi'lek was just over the counter and she had a good clear shot.

[Hanto Re]

Hanto rolled his eyes at the female‘s bombastic entrance. His smirk, however, remained in place. What did he care for collateral damage? He was having fun, way more fun than that spice he had bought could provide.

The fast food joint grew quiet, contrasting with the unabated ambient noise of the street outside. The clatter of forks, knives and Force knew what other implements ceased. Hanto breathed a rich aroma of the dishes on offer and made a note to get some later… Although, perhaps it would be best to procure food in a different place. Who knew whether this place would be standing when he was done with his prey.

”Ah, my sincere apologies for the spoiled meal,” Hanto waved his blaster in the direction of the tables and patrons, “do carry on, I’ll just fetch my bounty at the counter. I told you to run faster, brat.”

Several well-armed aliens stood from their seats and took out their own blasters. Hanto‘s smirk grew at the sight. The quartet walked over to the counter as if they owned the place. The actual owner was conspicuously absent, and the twilek was making his way out. Hanto glanced at the brat, but one of the Rhodian’s thugs crossed his hands over his chest and deliberately shifted his stance to cover the twilek.

”I was enjoying a good meal,” the Rhodian in charge said, “and now it’s ruined. Someone’s got to answer for it, punks.”

[Émilienne Chéreau]

As Émilienne began squeezing the trigger on her blaster, a customer stepped right in front of her line of sight, causing her to ease up. The hunter stood up and turned towards the masked stranger flaunting his blaster around "Hey numb nuts are you trying to let him get away?!" she exclaimed furiously. Her attention was drawn back towards the group of pissed off burger enthusiasts.

"I have no time for this." Émilienne reached into her coat pocket and slammed one of her smoke grenades on the ground. A large puff of thick gray smoke expanded from the point of impact concealing Émi. She used this concealment to exit the restaurant from the window she crashed through, quickly making her way around the building in an attempt to cut off the twi'lek. "P-Zero where's he at? she called out to her droid while sprinting through the alleyways. Above her the droid flashed it's spotlight downwards to mark the twi'leks location.

Without wasting any time she followed her droid's mark which led her to a dead end alleyway. As she turned the corner a blaster bolt zipped by her ear. With little to no thought she quickly raised her blaster in retaliation and shot towards the twi'lek. The bolt hit him directly in the neck; his body collapsed as the life holding it up rapidly ceased to exist. Just as a precaution another bolt would be shot directly into his head before Émilienne holstered her blaster. "That was way more difficult than it needed to be. She took a moment to stretch out her back and arms before stepping towards the lifeless body. Utilizing her fusion cutter she sliced off a finger to use as a DNA sample to claim the bounty.

[Hanto Re]

Hanto conjured a protective screen over his face, to spare himself the smoke. Another discreet application of the Force had one of the thugs trip over his own feet and fall on the rest of their merry band. Exploiting the distraction, Ervius tried to escape with the other mercenary. Alas, it seemed her smoke and Hanto’s own momentary lapse of concentration helped her evade his perception.

Frustration swept over him, and the rapidly dissipating gas did little to improve his disposition. Hanto snarled and used the Force to assist him with aiming, quickly dispatching one of the goons and the Rhodian himself before they could gather their wits. The rest turned tail after seeing their boss’s demise.

”You didn’t even deserve your burger, you asshole,” Hanto kicked the corpse and proceeded to sprint out of the back entrance. From there, he narrowed down the search radius. The twilek could not have run too far.

Yes! There they were!

He turned the corner just in time to hear a blaster shot. A flash of the Dark Side crept upon him, but Hanto pushed back. It would not do to start throwing lightning without dispatching all the witnesses first.

”Alright,” he stopped, panting a little. His hand still clutched his trusty Q8, “that was fun. Do hand over the bounty.”

Émilienne turned around to see the other hunter at the end of the alleyway, demanding the bounty. She huffed and raised her blaster "Don't make this difficult mate." In the distance she could hear quite a few footsteps and some voices.

"Where did they go!?" "I think they're over here!" "Let's get em!"​

She was sure the stranger heard it too. "I think we have some bigger issues to take care of, we can continue this after." Émi turned to her side and jumped, barely managing to grab the edge of the fire escape. She pulled herself up onto the metal platform and began climbing up the steep narrow stairs.

In the midst of her climb a few of the men from the restaurant alongside a few extra bodies turned the corner and began firing at both herself and Hanto. A blaster bolt would zip right past her ear, leaving a smoldering impact on one of the metal beams. She returned her fire, managing to hit 1 of the men before making her way up to the rooftop.

[Hanto Re]

“The night keeps getting better,” Hanto muttered when he noticed the hostile thugs approaching.

He had the Force to assist his dodging of the bullets. Jumping from beam to beam, using each as leverage for his acrobatics, Hanto presented a challenging target even without sith cheating. He reached the roof at the same time as the female mercenary and crossed his hands over his chest.

“I love it when the client forgets insignificant little details about the target,“ Hanto rolled his shoulders. “These dimwits are far too persistent to be salty over a spoiled dinner.”

Another blaster shot zipped past his temple, and Hanto scoffed. He pointed his own blaster at the thug who tried to shoot him and nailed the guy in the chest.

“Best be off, right?” he gave the female mercenary a smirk. “And don’t get any ideas, we’re walking together.”

Émilienne grunted as the stranger caught up to her quickly. "Listen pal if you're going to be a sore-loser over this bounty then I'll have to take care of you too. Even if you took this, my employer will believe me sooner than you. Take it up with her. Stay in line and maybe I'll think about giving you a cut for taking care of some of those thugs, otherwise back off."

She glared at the man with her own blaster in hand, ready to take care of him if he tried anything unnecessary. Blaster bolts would zip by the both of them. Émi turned and ran along the rooftops in the direction of the nearest spaceport. As she ran she pulled out her phone to contact her employer. It was a one way call, the lady never showed her face. Émi held up the finger to the camera "In a bit of a rush, this good enough?"

A jumbled up robotic voice responded "I trust you took care of it. I'll turn it in, as per usual I take 10%." The call ended, Émi put her phone back into her coat pocket to continue on.

[Hanto Re]

No. No — don’t blast the woman with lightning.

Hanto took a deep breath to take control of his temper. Experience with having to hold himself back during his former master’s missions allowed him to maintain a mask of mild irritation and avoid showing the murderous rage he felt. No one on Nar Shaddaa knew of his Force sensitivity, and wasting such a secret on this petty conflict would be downright criminal.

“Fine,” he bit out.

Credits were a pleasant bonus for him. Hanto worked for reputation. He would be having words with the info broker — later.

“They are there, boss, up top!” one of the thugs shouted, interrupting Hanto’s trail of thought. “We can’t get them down!”

“Shut up, I can see it,” another alien responded.

Hanto looked around and noticed that the entire building had been surrounded. He stifled another annoying sigh. The Force had a twisted sense of humor.

“Alright ye shitty kriffs!” the apparent boss called to the mercenaries, playing with a couple thermal detonators. It was, rather surprisingly, a twilek. “Come out, and I’ll give you a quick death… After we’ve had some fun with you, of course.”

Hanto tuned out the accompanying laughter and turned to look at the female bounty hunter. This trap was more an annoyance to him than any actual danger, but he had no wish to show off any of his sith skills. Perhaps the mercenary could be of some use.

“Let’s call a truce, for now,” he said. “‘Least till we ditch these dimwits.”

Seriosly, whom the kriff had they just murdered?

“Losing patience down there!” the twilek shouted, and the blaster bolts started flying.

Émilienne stopped in her tracks hearing the commotion from below. She stepped near the edge of the building and peered down to see a whole platoon of men around the building. She reached into her coat pocket to pull out two stun gas grenades, tossing one of them to the other bounty hunter.

"Pull the pin and throw to the other side, once they pop we'll go." Without wasting time she promptly followed her own instructions, dropping the grenade on her side of the building. Once Hanto would do the same she would jump over to the next building and continue her run towards the spaceport. Assuming he followed, Emi spoke as she ran "Club Euphoria on Coruscant, go to the main bar and ask for an "Admiral's Welcome". That'll put you in contact."

As she finished giving him the details she dropped down into a nearby alleyway and made her way out into the busy main street. The spaceport wasn't too far from her now, and hopefully the men chasing them aren't smart enough to try and block it off.

[Hanto Re]

"Thanks a bunch," Hanto grinned and threw the primed grenade into a crowd of aliens. If the grenade's trajectory was a little too perfect, there would be none left to comment on it. He would invest in grenades, the Sith decided. They were quite handy when one could not utilize lightning for crowd control.

He followed the female mercenary from rooftop to rooftop. It was always fun to make use of acrobatics. He had not had the chance to employ them extensively since leaving his master's service. A shortwhile afterwards, the mercenary gave Hanto all those nice instructions. He was a little weary of going to Coruscant, in a way all Sith were, but decided that exploring its underworld was worth the risk.

Even if this woman had stolen his bounty, their acquiantance promised to be reasonably productive. If not... Well, the ecumenopolis would probably fail to notice another masssacre in its streets.

"Got it," Hanto gave the woman a curt nod, and they parted ways. He went for his rented apartment. It was best to get off this planet as fast as possible, in case the idiots chasing them had half a brain cell and made use of the surveillance network.

Well then, let's what the seat of galactic everything looks like, he thought to himself.
