Yes, but in the eyes of the law you are an adult, just like in religion, I am an adult. Different views and privileges depending on various ages, confusing, yes it is. Not to mention you can't gamble until you are 21. I'm not a big alcohol guy, so when I am 18, everything you mentioned besides buy cigs is good for me.

Same thing in Canada, except it's 19 for alcohol, 18 in Quebec(not sure if it's for all alcohol or not, would have to ask SIN).

In America I'd guess it's 21 for adult. It seems ridiculous if you're recognised as an adult but still aren't old enough to drink and gamble. The gambling age over here is 16...but the drinking age is 18, driving age is 17 and sex age is 16...me is confused...

Not anymore. It was changed back in March of this year I believe. It's now sixteen. However, their is a two year close in age exception for 14 and fifteen year olds, ie you can have sex with someone no more then two years older then you. Or something like that.

I discovered that when I was in Whistler back in February...my ski instructor told me, but I do remember him saying 14-16 year olds can have sex with 14-16 years olds or something like that. It's still pretty damn cool.
