((...your posts are really short, for one thing. Also, why did your character draw lightsabers just then? The thief is dead.))

((Alright... I'll let it slide, for now. That said, there's concise, and then there's way too few details to make sense.))

Cabur took the datacard with a nod, slipping it into a slot on his helmet. The map came up on the heads-up-display of his helmet, each detail being checked against what Cabur had already taken care to learn before he ran off on this journey. The Mando decided that it would likely be accurate enough to get the group where they needed to go - though if they weren't sidetracked by an error in the map just as they would definitely be sidetracked by another unwelcome slumdweller, he would be surprised.

"Ground floor Coruscant. Filthy, full of mutants, likely a lot of unwelcome semi-sentient plantlife...lovely," he muttered to himself, the mic in his helmet off, for now. Cabur hung his weapon from his shoulder, finding it unnecessary now, before reactivating his helmet mic.

"If we're done demonstrating our firepower to the locals," he growled, distastefully looking at the dead body as he stepped over it, "Might we get started?"

Darren had not reacted to the sudden violence, at least not visibly. He'd steeled himself and had prepared to fight but by then, the situation was over with.

"A bit dramtic, you think?" Darren said to the group in general.

Now, he took the map and analyzed it.

"What more do we need to know about this mission? I feel out of the loop." Darren demanded, frowning. "And I don't like to be out of the loop."

The girl, Karl concluded, was not a girl. She had introduced herself as Essaru, and she almost definitely was older than she looked. That or she had one hell of an upbringing. She still shew now emotions, even after blowing the brains out of someone. Sure, that someone would of probably been a problem to them, but the fact she did it without hesitation told Karl a lot. The way she spoke was strange as well, he never managed to glimpse her face, which made it even harder for him to read her. On top of all that, the only other person who seemed to acknowledge she was speaking was the Rat. The others acted as if they couldn't hear her: No subtle glances towards her, no nods, no raised eyebrows, nothing at all that suggested they agreed or disagreed to anything she said.

Essaru was not someone he would want to cross, and Karl made a mental note not to do anything to annoy her. No need in pointless bloodshed, right?

Disregarding the fact she was a very scary lady, she also seemed like a very useful one. Good fighter and a good analysis of the situation.

He listened to the Rat as he gave the intel. Maps, ghouls, more rats, Karl just nodded. Nothing the others couldn't take care of, he was sure. He didn't want to be here any longer than he had to, so he decided it was time to get on with it.

"Data and tech, huh? Must be a helluva prize to drag us all together and chuck us down into Coruscant's depth, especially this time of year. I hear the Alliance is stepping up security. Sithies are giving 'em trouble. I'm thinkin', the faster we get this job done, the faster we're off this planet. So why don't we stop with the sightseeing an' get walkin', eh? We grab what we're 'ere for, and shoot anyone in our way. Sound like a plan?"

He grinned to them all, and started walking off. He ended up walking besides the Rat and Essaru. He smiled to them, and began to do some small talk.

"Nice shooting back their Essaru, the guy got what was comin' for 'im. Wouldn't want to lose the big computer, erm, thing, would we know?

He turned to Frex.

"If ya don't mind me asking, what do we need the computer for anyway? You a hacker?"

Essaru also ripped a length of meat - whatever kind it happened to be - and chewed it thoughtfully as they sat in their silence bubble, staring at the map he had pieced together. It was certainly impressive work, at least to her since she had done her part to also try and find out all she could about these extremely low levels. Her own search had been entirely fruitless however, so it was rather clear that he was an expert with that computer of his. After studying the map, at least what he had pieced together of it anyways, she reached to accept a data chip and placed it into a previously empty pocket. She wasn't sure if she would be able to use it to navigate a way out anyways, but at least it was something.

She looked to Herk as he spoke, nodding once to show she agreed - at least with the killing anything that got in their way. As for leaving instantly, she would stand and move to the proprietor of this little food stand, conversing quietly with him for a few seconds before handing over a credit chit in return for a bag of - well, something anyways. It looked to have a bit of weight to it, but it was closed. She shouldered it as she turned and started to walk, giving a nod to the rat-man as well. She had some things she wanted to get across privately, but she didn't need the privacy bubble to do so. They might have picked up on that yet, but she had some ideas on that as well. As they walked, however, Herk started to speak first.

She gave a nod to the praise of shooting the man in the head; she truly didn't feel anything like remorse about it so she easily accepted it as simply congratulations on a good shot. The vagrant had been nothing to her except someone in her way, albeit a roundabout way of being in her way. What she did respond to was Herk's question towards Frex, her Heart again only making her voice known to Herk and Frex alone. "We've been sent to collect computer data. Without that computer, transporting it will be difficult." At least that was how she saw it - and it might also explained why she had so swiftly shot that particular vagrant in the head.

Her 'voice' dropped them to simulate a whisper, to let them know this next bit was only meant for them to hear. Of course, she still wasn't going to be speaking a single word out loud so no one else could possibly hear it, but she wasn't sure if they had picked up on that or not. "This is a dangerous place to be alone, especially for an extended period of time. We are going to need to rest, and feel safe enough that we actually get it. I don't trust anyone who won't give a name, and we three are it on that note. So, what I'm proposing is simple. We all watch each other's backs so we can all make it out of this hell-hole. Thoughts?

There was nothing worse that Wisp has not seen to this point. He silenced his lightsabers and remained calm. Wisp wasn't hearing anything Essaru was saying, neither was he paying attention to anything. Too busy thinking, he asked himself How exactly did this man die?. Wisp was curious and needed to move around, so he crouched on the body and took a little study on it. Surprising. A blaster shot. How did this happen? And who did it? He feared the worst. "I believe that we are not alone down here. Something or someone was here before us."

((...when was somebody shot? We've all sat down to lunch (in a crowded outdoor cafe, no less) and to review a map, and we're just getting up to leave; the thief getting shot in the head was awhile back. Please, pay better attention to what's going on.))

Frex grimaced slightly at the term "hacker"... it was a common enough term, but it carried unfortunate connotations.
"Yeah, I'm a slicer... like Essaru said, we're after data as well as artifacts, and I guess it's my job to get it and transport it. Also, as dangerous as the Coruscant under-levels are, pretty much every place is wired in some way; it may come in handy to have someone like me along in a tight spot."
He smiled, turning to Essaru and lowering his voice.
"Rest assured, you won't feel my gun at your back. I'll keep an eye out..."
Standing, he addressed the rest of the group, answering Darren and Cabur as he did so.
"Believe me, I wish I knew just what was going on, my business is information. But, what you see is what you get; we're all in the same floater. At any rate, we should get going, we have a lot of ground to cover."
Closing his portable, Frex once again slung the computer's strap over his shoulder, taking his meal in the other hand.
"Lady, gentlemen... onward and downward."

It was a short walk from the sidewalk food stand to a nearby set of mossy duracrete stairs which led down onto another level. Each level on Coruscant roughly consisted of 20 floors, with walkways near the bottom, and so the climb down was fairly long.
Twice, Frex stepped on something which squeaked and squirmed away in the darkness, and he was reminded of his heritage; nobody was quite certain where the Rat People of Coruscant had come from, but the prevailing theory was that ordinary gutter rats - exposed over millennia to a manifold of industrial pollutants, strange urban environmental conditions, alien predators and other hardships - had evolved to exploit the niche carved by other sentients in the deep, dark underworld. It made sense, in a disgusting sort of way...
If so, this place should probably feel more like home to me, though it doesn't...
He grimaced as he touched the slimy metal handrail of the stairway, peering ahead into the gloom ahead. The way was lit by a few lighted signs and windows, but it was hard to see.
Suddenly, he felt the fur stand up on he back of his neck.
Something had moved, down there, in the dark. It was hard to see, but...
Someone coming up from below, maybe?
There was a landing coming up, where the stairway switch-backed on its way down to the street level below. Illuminated by a pool of light from a flickering glowpanel, Frex blinked as he thought he saw someone - or something - withdrawing into the darkness beyond.
He gulped.
"Guys, keep alert? We may not be alone up here..."

"One appears to never be alone in the lower levels of Coruscant," Cabur growled, bringing his blaster carbine up to bear. He kept his eyes on the various sensor readouts in his HUD, as he had been - to make sure that nothing would be able to surprise him. He turned, looking down the stairs - he thought he'd seen something similar to what Frex might have, something moving.

"You, with the lightsabers - you take point. It might be useful to have you up there if we need to cut through anything, be it door or creature. Herk, you stand behind him, and protect the slicer - you too, fluffy. Essaru, you and I have the group's back. I don't trust this place." Cotan kept his wary eyes focused on the stairs behind the group. Where there was one hostile creature, there were bound to be more...and Cotan didn't want to leave any part of the group open to attack.

"DON"T!" Darren excalimed violently. "CALL ME FLUFFY!"

However, he did stand point and protect the slicer, igniting his lightsaber in the process.

Karl smiled as he walked along. Essaru and the Rat seemed to be forming some sort of pact or something, and Karl seemed to be included in it. The Rat didn't look like he would be much help in protecting him, but he was the techie, and therefore the one who would have the info they're after, and the info they were getting payed for. Best to stick by him and get in his good book. Essaru, however, would be able to protect them both from pretty much anything, and if there was one thing Karl liked more than credits, it was himself. So, this deal allowed him to secure his protection and his payment. What more could you want?

"Aye, I say we stick together. Three 'eads are better than one, as me mam used to say."

Karl, or rather Herk, grinned. The grin vanished when they reached the stairs. He hated stairs. They were just so repetitive. And these stairs were dark, and he had trod on at least half a dozen things scurrying in the dark. He was about to comment on the "damn rats" when he remembered Frex was nearby. Best not annoy the techie. It was at that moment that the Rat indicated they weren't alone. One of the other mercs not only confirmed it, but barked out some orders. Karl didn't know who made him the boss, but it seemed his plans were in Karl's best interest. Essaru and the merc covering his rear, the two lightsaber wielders in front of him and he was right in the middle, safe and sound besides the Rat and his computer. Karl thought for a minute. If he vouched to protect the Rat, to play bodyguard, he could probably avoid fighting all together.

"Aye aye. Frex, from now on you stick be me, eh? I'll keep ya safe. Without you and your big computer thingy, this mission's all for naught, ain't it?"

Karl gave the Rat a reassuring smile, and raised his weapon up slightly. He didn't want to raise it too high and shoot the guys in front by accident, but he also wanted to be ready in case he had to defend himself. And with that, he waited for whatever was in the dark with them to show itself.

A nod was given in return to both Frex and Herk. They seemed like honest enough people to her, so she would trust him. Frex was obviously intelligent; you didn't become a slicer without some brain power, that was certain. As such, he would obviously know that the beat chance the group had was to not turn on each other. At least not until they for back topside and out of this hell. Herk on the other hand just seemed the honest type; he was even quoting his mother. That made her trust him. She considered him for a few moments before they reached the stairs, and then her focus changed to the stairs themselves. She didn't want to step in something slippery and fall down these long, dark stairs.

Then Frex called out and the armoured one confirmed; they were not alone down here. What she had not been expecting, however, was for the one who looked like a Mandalorian to start barking out orders. She didn't move at first, her eyes moving to and studying him thoroughly. They lingered for a few long seconds, almost as if testing him - but in the end, he passed. Seeing him pull a blaster out, she shifted to the back of the group while her right hand found the hilt of her sword. With a loud metallic ring it was pulled free of its scabbard; it looked like it weighed quite a bit but she was seemingly holding it effortlessly with one hand. She stayed a half step back from the Mandalorian, a slight nod given his way. She would take care of anything that got close, leaving him free to take his time and aim his shots perfectly without worry. Whatever they were about to meet, it had better be ready for trouble.

((Sorry it took me so long to post today, folks))

Frex turned to Herk, nodding with an appreciative smile. Something struck the young slicer about the other being as being... off, but he seemed friendly enough regardless, and he appreciated having someone to watch his back.
"Will be nice to have you watching out. I'll remember this." He replied.
Just hope it pans out.
Suddenly, something shifted in the shadows of the landing, and Frex tensed...
What came out of the shadows was a fearsome creature, a monster version of the small rodents which had been scurrying underfoot. It made its way out into the light, lifting its pointed muzzle to look at the group of heavily armed sentients who had entered its territory.
It promptly emitted a high-pitched squeak of terror, and bolted back into the darkness from whence it came, the click of its claws on the duracrete Dopplering away as it ran.
Frex let out a sigh of mixed relief and sheepishness, his cup-shaped ears lowering slightly in embarrassment.
"...a druking Borrat. Sorry about that, guys, false alAUGH!"
Frex felt something icy and strong wrap around his ankle, pulling him sideways to the ground from underneath the slimy metal handrail of the staircase. He bashed his head against the wall beside him as he fell, seeing stars as he was dragged by something unseen toward the edge of the steps.
From around the group, rasping, screeching sounds could be heard from the darkness, as well as the smack of flesh on duracrete as groups of things ran through the darkness ahead of and behind them...
Frex kicked at whatever had grabbed him, but it refused to let go, sharp fingers digging into the flesh beneath his fur.
"Help! Something's got my leg!"

"Hold still," Cabur growled, pointing his rifle down - not at the hand that grasped Frex, but at the arm that it belonged to; a single shot forced it to break its grip, allowing the Mando to quickly reach down, dragging the rodentine slicer back to the group. He kept up his rifle, darting back and forth; while the creatures about them had quieted after his shot, growing wary, he doubted they'd left; it wouldn't make any sense for them to do so, not right now.

Not taking his eyes away from where he was looking, he activated his suit mic, to speak to the group. "Form up around the slicer," he commanded. "Somebody check him, make sure he doesn't have a concussion or any other wounds. And, slicer, if you're able to speak, do you have any idea what just tried to make a meal of you?"

Darren had activated his lightsaber and jumped after the creature once he saw that Cabur had gotten Frex safe. He jumped, using the Force to propel his motion and would pursue if the rodent decided to run.

"I'm going after that thing." Darren radioed back.

"Frex? You alright?"

Karl extended a hand to the Rat, helping him up. He also tried to keep a safe distance from the stairs, he didn't want whatever had grabbed the Rat to grab him too.

"You better stick close to the wall, eh? Can't lose our favorite hacker now, can we?"

Karl grinned and gently pushed the Rat towards the wall on the right, away from the star's railing, and whatever creatures were hidden in the darkness down their. He put himself in front of the Rat, hoping it would seem like he was doing his part in protecting their slicer, but also making sure he himself was protected. His blaster was raised, and he looked around at the others. Inside, he was terrified. He definitely regretted coming on this mission now. On the outside, he just appeared calm and composed.

"Err... We just gonna stand here all day? Not to big anyone up 'ere or anything, but we're all heavily armed 'n armored, and those down their are just backward lifeforms, like dogs or whatever. Couldn't we just take 'em on?"

Karl guessed it was going to be harder than that, however, he hoped his words would propel the group into action. Waiting around didn't seem like a good idea... What if more were on their way?

Essaru's first thought had to be 'Seriously Rat boy you're getting everyone worried over a Borrat?'. Her eyes locked to it as it got one good look at them and then backed away. Her eyes shifted to Frex just as he let out a cry and fell to the ground, before being dragged away from the group. The Mandalorian next to herself took careful aim and fired once, a clean shot that should free Frex quite efficiently. She closed in towards the group, still keeping an eye on their backs so they didn't get surprised. She heard Herk talking and shifted her gaze to him now, considering his words. Well, getting out of here to somewhere with more light would likely let the others fight better, at least. For her part, her cybernetic eye simply shifted quickly through multiple spectrums until it found one she could see whatever it was they were dealing with in; the one she settled on still only let her see them as indistinguishable blobs however. At least she could see where they were, though.

The sound of a lightsaber igniting filled the air and she looked towards the furred one holding it. Good, it looked like they were indeed about to get moving. And then - he made a long leap in the direction the Burrat had gone and called back that he was going after it. It took all of her willpower not to put her face in her palm and simply walk away at that moment. With an audible sigh, she turned and started to walk down the stairs, abandoning her post in the rear. Her voice rang out into all of their heads, at least those still here - so Darren wouldn't hear it.

"I'll cut a path through the middle. Frex, you get the right side, Herk the left and the Mandalorian will make sure we don't get swarmed from the back. Call out if you're overwhelmed. Keep moving unless something bigger then a house gets in our way. Her voice cut out as she shifted into a run for two steps before leaping through the air, her two handed vibro blade slashing diagonally down and right through the first - well, whatever these were - in their path downwards. Without caring if she was actually leading them in to a best of these things or leading them out, she would continue forward at a light run, powerful strikes of her sword keeping their path forward clear of most of the creeps. Each swing would cleave whatever it was she hit in twain, her strikes barely even slowed by their mass - a combination of the brute strength of her cybernetics and the cutting capacity of her vibro sword.
