Here is the problem:

Find the y-intercept of the line passing through (2,5) and having the slope 2/3

Whoever answers this correctly and then explains to me how they did it get my eternal love and a cookie.

No eternal love or cookie for me. I'm absolutely clueless on that stuff. Why we must learn it is beyond me...

Isn't the y-intercept just (0,5), or am I thinking about something else? It's been a year since i did this stuff, so give me a break if i'm rusty.

y-y=m(x-x)

y-5=2/3(x-2)

y-5=2/3x-4/3

y=2/3x-4/3+5

y=2/3x+11/3

y-int=11/3

I think this works, others should verify. I used point slope form.

The answer 11/3. The answer is in the back of the book, but I cannot figure out how to get 11/3.

I did it already. Make sense? Do I get a cookie?

Woah, i'm really out of practice.

Of course I only did basic maths, so this point slop crap and everything makes no sense to me either way.

Okay I have one more...it's harder!

Write the equation of the line through (2,3) and perpendicular to the like 5x + 3y = 22
