Description: In 954 ABY Kaut Drive Yards was contracted by Mere Shipyards to help them design a new bulk freighter based off of a very popular design from their history. The Mere Resistance cruiser had been a little shy of 200 meters long but had made their claim to fame by beating back separatist forces time and again during the Clone Wars. While the original cruiser relied only on the twin side-mounted engine pods KDY say a need for a faster freighter and converted the rear space into the ships primary reactor and engines. Also a change from the original design was the placement of the bridge(or cockpit on smaller craft). Mere had originally intended for the front to house the bridge as with the original model and have a small living area behind it with a cargo area farther aft. But with the new engines where the cargo was to go it was decided to move the cargo area forward and carve out a small second level about midway down the ship's length and convert that level solely into it's bridge. Behind the bridge is a familiar sight in Corillian vessels, a tube connecting to dorsal and ventral twin laser turrets meant for warding off attacks long enough for the ship cleared any gravity wells and make a jump into hypersapce.

While Mere wanted to make a homage to a bright point in it's past KDY saw the project as a means to produce a low cost freighter that could easily double as a transport. KDY eventually won the battle with Mere over frills v effectiveness and they launched the Homage in 957. A none too good advertizing campaign mixed with a market already filled to the brim with freighters and transports made it a tough sell at first. In the first year of the line most pilots looked at it with distaste, is was big, bulky, hard to customize and surely no YT 1300, but as time went on and those few that had flown them attested to their surprising speed and KDY's attempts at cutting costs played a huge role in saving the line. Of those that flew a Homage many fell in love with it, some even calling the hourglass as an inside joke.

The series was discontinued in 976 due to low sales and a stagnant sales environment. By now most Homage transports have been scrapped, dissasembled, or converted into party yachts. Hardly living up to it's predecessor's glory.

Classification: Transport/Freighter
Height: 10.5 Meters
Width: 17 Meters (at widest point)
Length: 41 Meters
Power Core Generator/Reactor: KDY 07 Fusion Reactor
Hyperdrive Rating: Class , Class 12 backup
Minimum Crew: 1
Optimal Crew: 4

Armaments: 2 twin light laser cannons (mounted dorsally & ventrally behind the cockpit), 1 forward mounted heavy laser cannon, 2 single use chaff launchers mounted rearward, 1 energy shield.
Non-Combative Attachments: Long range sensor array, 2 six passenger escape pods, 1 Tractor beam, 1 Magnetic Grappling claw, rearward passenger ramp & forward cargo ramp, Smart linked droid brain linked to the nava computer as an auto pilot.

Passenger Capacity: 8 (aside from crew)
Cargo Capacity: 100 Metric Tons
Consumables: 3 Months

Sublight Speed and Maneuverability: 800 kph in atmosphere with a maximum acceleration of 80 MGTL out of atmosphere. While not necessarily fast the Homage is not by any means slow due to it's over sized main engine and twin secondaries. Maneuverability is another matter. The ship is of course rather bulky and that weight is hard to move, the situation is made worse by it's limited number of thrusters. Out of atmosphere it doesn't dance but it can turn with a good number of gravities if the captain is willing to risk some hull stress. In atmosphere it flies like a brick due to it's aerodynamic surface and few control flaps.
Role: Privately & publicly owned transport and freighter.

Looks good, but out-of-atmosphere speeds are measured in MGLT, km/h. And for a freighter, it's max would be probably at around 80 - 90 MGLT. The fastest state-of-the-art major government funded star fighters can barely make it to 200.

To be honest the only reliable information I found was on in atmospheric flight and I had to basically BS the out of atmosphere speed. Thanks for the tip, consider it edited.
