Imperial QRF Force?

Pretty straight forward idea that I hope might generate some interest.

Now that I'm back at this RP business (kinda), I'm looking to put together a group of willing participants whose primary goal will be to serve as a QRF (Quick Reaction Force) for the Empire. Our overall goal would be to keep an eye out for Open threads hosted by other factions taking place in Sith territory. The outfit would primarily be led by my Admiral - Anya Sevchenko - and we would operate out of her personal flagship, an Empyreal-class SD I've taken to naming the Manticore (tentatively). If I can put together a small fleet that would be great, but for now I'm playing it safe and keeping it to one SD: which is no slouch in and of itself really.

Normally this is a task I might undertake on my own, but as I'm playing Anya as close to an actual Admiral as humanly possible, she's basically inept in a face to face gun battle/sword fight (because when do you remember reading about Admiral Nimitz fighting the Japanese on the front lines, rifle in hand?). That in mind, while I intend for her to handle the fleet aspect of things, I'm enlisting the help of you fine folks to fill in the other roles I can't. So if you're a Legion grunt/pilot/commander or a Sith Marauder, or even an Inquisitor, I'll need your help to run the ground aspect of things.

If you're interested, let me know by just leaving a reply here. The character you intend to use is optional as this is still very much in the planning phase, but if we manage to establish a core group then we can move forward on a more solid basis and begin creating some actual content here.

That's alright. The overall function of the group is defensive in nature, so it's activity (of the combat variety at least) is dependent on when other factions decide to run missions inside Sith space. There will obviously be room for more social things here and there, but those would be completely optional.

And hey, I'm not actually limiting the number of people who want to sign up. The more the merrier. So if you aren't really active now, but still have interest, then I'll consider a spot open for you in the future if you find yourself with some time to spare.

Before I get to work on an official write up for this group though, I need to know what to call it. I've added a poll with a few choices, so just cast your vote for whatever strikes your fancy. Or if you have your own idea, just post it here and we'll vote on that one too. And yes I know, Death Squadron sounds super dumb, but it was the name of Darth Vader's personal armada. I couldn't not include it (because I'm a talentless hack). lol

Also, I've drawn up a list of potential names for our ship other than Manticore that you can also help decide on. The list is as follows:

Tempest
Lusankya - A variation on Lubyanka, the notorious headquarters for the KGB. Oddly enough, I have Archer to thank for that one. lol

In Greek mythology, the river Phlegethon (Φλεγέθων, English translation: "flaming") or Pyriphlegethon (Πυριφλεγέθων, English translation: "fire-flaming") was one of the five rivers in the infernal regions of the underworld, along with the rivers Styx, Lethe, Cocytus, and Acheron. Plato describes it as "a stream of fire, which coils round the earth and flows into the depths of Tartarus".[1] It was parallel to the river Styx. It is said that the goddess Styx was in love with Phlegethon, but she was consumed by his flames and sent to Hades. Eventually when Hades allowed her river to flow through, they reunited.

In Dante'sInferno Phlegethon is described as a river of blood that boils souls. It is in the Seventh Circle of Hell, which punishes those who committed crimes of violence against their fellow men (see Canto XII, 46–48); murderers, tyrants, and the like. By causing hot blood to flow through their violent deeds in life, they are now sunk in the flowing, boiling blood of the Phlegethon. The depth at which each sinner must stand in the river is determined by the level of violence they caused in life; Dante sees Attila the Hun and Alexander the Great up to their eyebrows. Centaurs patrol the circle, firing arrows at those who try to rise above their allotted level in the river.

Phlegethon, or one of the Greek rivers of Hades sound pretty interesting imo.

I hadn't necessarily thought of a theme, but I'm open to ideas of every stripe. So if you have some ideas you'd like to pitch, go right ahead!

Have to admit that I'm rather partial to either Wolf or Inferno Squadron at this point myself.

Wolf Squadron we could do a little tweaking with the details to somehow tie it in to the old SBZ Wolfpack we had back when the Sith were still fighting the BA.

Inferno Squadron, let's face it, it's a new canon Imperial special forces squadron created for Battlefront 2. So naturally the whole concept of a special forces group applies really well here.

I'm personally on the fence now though as either one sounds great to me.
