How so? He simply restated what he's been saying from the beginning.

Mainly the part where he goes on about "protecting all life and giving everyone the chance to pursue hapiness." Now he is going to go and let babies be killed. Even if you don't believe they are babies, they are life.

I was fine with the modest speech. I am glad he didn't do anything like Bush who basically promised world peace.

It was when I watched the interviews of the people in the crowd that I was annoyed by the narcotizing dysfunction which, as I have observed, has spread far.

But perhaps I am too critical.

Perhaps I should have worded my initial post better. Most, if not all of these "Catholics" or "Christians" soldiers had no idea about the tenants, fundamentals, or writings of Christianity. They were illiterate and uneducated; their sole purpose was to fight for the Papacy and her machinations.

So, for all intents and purposes, these soldiers were pagan in the sense that they were not Christian - they had no clue who Jesus was or of his love outside of the Catholic church's skewed image of him.

Ohh. I thought you were referring to the Varangians. But they served the emperor, not the pope, so I guess the blame for hte confusion lies on both of us.

Anyway, a Catholic who is ignorant is not a pagan. He is an ignorant Catholic. And in any case, my point was that the church is responsible for a great amount of innocent bloodshed.

No more than you being a militant Christian is hypocritical.

I really doubt Obama would go around murding helpless babies. Maybe unborn, lifeless, insentient fetuses, but definitely not babies.

Chrisitanity has made mistakes in the past, mainly in the act of trying to build a 'Christendom'. Most of modern Christianity (I say this instead of Church because that carries conotations of Catholiscism, which I am most definitely not) does not condone the crusades. There were faults on both sides, and pro's and con's in the outcome. Then again, so have many other world religions, and many social and economic policies. Islam has made mistakes, Communism has made mistakes, Capitalism has made mistakes, and they all involve loads of death. My point here being that there is not one perfect side, something I must thank all of you here at the site to opening my eye's to.

The only thing that worries me about Obama is his stance on the Israelo-Palestinian conflict.

So far, Obama doesn't seem to understand the problematic.

Obama is the president, not a cynical, Canadian punk who relies on teh Interwebz and a few Palestinian friends and CNN for info. He has intelligence reports, full disclosure to previously unknown info, years of political experience, full access to UN supplies, and complete command of the most powerful army in the world.

The way he understands it is a bit more reliable than you, mehtinks.

Doesn't mean he'll do the right thing.

That is, to pressure Israel.

That is, to explore the key reaons behind the conflict and to make an appropriate response therein, which may or may not include pressuring Israel, because I am not always correct.

Why does Dan get a warning? Almost everyone does that "fix'd" joke. He even did it when Sin stated his opinion like a fact.

You're absolutely right, everyone does do it. However, Dan did it with malicious intent, and as such was trolling. That's why he received the warning.
