Well, to commemorate my return to SWRP, I want to start running a story arc. The novelty behind it is that I will be participating exclusively as the narrator, furthering the plot and taking up the role of NPCs and background characters to spontaneously generate the story (down a branching, fairly open-ended path I've paved for it).
The idea behind this arc in particular is to explore a situation developing on the Twi'lek homeworld, Ryloth. Over the course of a series of threads, we'll run through a wide variety of settings and events, playing with what we know about Twi'lek culture and society and the environs of their homeworld, and perhaps unraveling a secret plot or two...
The idea is that each of the threads be of a somewhat episodic nature, with the small gaps between them accounting for the fat that tends to bog down stories, travelling time and whatnot. This allows us to hash out the story in energetic bursts so that we can hopefully keep up momentum throughout the arc.
The first episode of the Ryloth story arc I'm tentatively calling
The notorious shadowport, the Spice Dreamer, has become a permanent fixture on the secretive hyperspace route known as Death Wind Corridor. A notorious alternative for smugglers hoping to avoid the more policed Corellian Run and Manda-Roon hyperlanes, it's also become prime soil or all the illicit activities one expects to find in all the cracks where light doesn't quite manage to shine. Lately, the shadowport has also become a major staging area for the thriving Ryloth slave trade, with the local barons exporting thousands of indentured servants from a variety of species, but most prominently among them the Twi'lek women renowned throughout the galaxy for their beauty.
For one reason or another, you'll have found your way to the Spice Dreamer, perhaps by chance... perhaps by the rumor coursing through certain circles in the underground, whispering that Drusas Valchek, a renowned Twi'lek smuggler, is enlisting help for a big job. Maybe you're enticed by the bounty on Drusas' head, or perhaps the credits he's offering in exchange for services rendered, or maybe... maybe it's that nebulous, uncertain detail that a few parties tack onto the rumor: the word on the HoloNet is that Drusas Valchek wants to butt heads with some of the notorious Ryloth slaver barons over one of their shipments. But one wonders if the smuggler's bit off more than he can chew.

If anyone is interested, please post in this thread. If you could, include some kind of short blurb about why you think your character would fit in nicely with the idea. I don't think there will be a problem with the arc overflowing, but if a lot of people are interested, I'll try to pick those whose characters seem most relevant. For the record, I think there's a lot of ways that you could wriggle your way in here, be you a soldier, a Sith, a Jedi or a smuggler, and if you need help thinking of one just shoot me a PM.
I project that this will probably consist of... five or six threads, which I assume will range from 3 to 5 pages or so in length, but I'm just spouting numbers off the top of my head. I have a pretty good idea of where the story will be headed but it should be very flexible depending on who joins and how they progress the plot.
Oh, and a fair warning, these threads will be death enabled. I might be NPCing but if someone reacts very stupidly to a given situation, there will be repercussions. That said, I'm not interested in making these threads a bloodbath, so don't be scared to join either.
