This was a primitive world, a place of nature and good hunting, where grasslands flowed in the wind like waves upon a rolling sea. Xukas could see the appeal of such a quiet life here, where skies did not burn with the smoke of factories. He had not come to Shili to gawk at it's unblemished wildlands, though. The monstrous beast was a shadow in the evening gales, eyes that glowed with the dark side, like embers against a black shroud. Stars sparkled overhead where distant mountains scraped cloudless night. This was a world of opportunity, a world of resources.
The Empire would have it all.
The lights of civilization flicker ahead, and like a looming monster in the dark, Xukas treks closer, silent as the breeze that tussles silver fur. His armor is padded, quiet, his lightsaber settled at his hip. He doubted he'd need it, but nonetheless, it was there. The constant companion to the Sith that would conquer this world. For now though, he would be patient. He would wait. A scout in the tall grass as he skirted the edges of the glistening capital of Corvala. Xukas can't help but wonder just how vulnerable the city could be, but then that was the point of scouting, wasn't it? To find the answers to his questions.
He slips his hood over his head, and makes his way into the streets. The late night is lonely, but still the hum of life whirls in his ears. Not all were sleeping, tucked in their homes. But at the very least, there were not many to spot his curious roaming.
Not until he came upon the power station.
Inside, he knew there would likely be several reactors meant for powering the city itself. There would be back-up generators too, potentially located in alternate locations. Xukas supposed that there was only one way to find out. He scans the boundary, notes the security, and then promptly avoids the front entrance, unaware that he had already been spotted. The wolf leaps the wall that separates him from the surrounding yard, before making his way closer to the building. The front door has no guardians, yet he knows well enough that it is rigged with an alarm. Most secure buildings such as these were, and he wasn't willing to test out whether or not the togruta were an exception. No, instead he heads toward the back, seeking an alternate entrance. He hadn't gone far before a shout rings out, a guard approaching from behind with a blaster leveled. Xukas wasn't even sure where the fellow had come from, but it didn't matter.
He reaches out with the force, snatches the man by the throat, and he can hear the desperate struggle for breath that soon commences as the dark side of the force swells within his spirit like a raging animal. He had planned to snap the guard's neck nice and quiet, before anyone else could notice what was going on. He hadn't planned for the alarm to go off, or for the arrival of several other guards from what he now noticed to be a security outpost on the edge of the barrier. A growl rips from his maw as he bares his teeth, leaps to avoid a blaster bolt that burrows into the side of the power station. The guard that had been in his choking grasp falls sputtering to the grass. If they thought they could pin him here, they were wrong. Xukas wasn't waiting for the planet's security forces to show up. He lunges toward the small group, teeth gnashing and claws slashing.
Blood splatters the grass.
A guard crumples, wounded and scarred.
A blaster bolt burns a raging path into the Sith's thigh, and he roars.
Fury. Pain. And now, panic.
Xukas throws himself at the wall, leaps it with the help of the force, and strikes the grass on the other side with a stagger. He doesn't look back as he lurches into the streets beyond, the fire that burned in his leg an all too present agony. He can hear the sound of reinforcements in the distance, but he won't stop. Can't stop. By the time he reaches the outskirts of Corvala, he's sweating through his fur, despite the crisp bite of the night.
