ISC 'first on the scene' in Firrerre rescue, as Chancellor and Prime Minister 'fail to act'

"We will not stand by and allow them to suffer in the fires of war/

~ Secretary Carrick

The Independent Systems Constortium (ISC) has dispatched an entire fleet to the ruined world of Firrerre, almost immediately following news of the attack, alleged to have been carried out by the Sith Empire. In a broadcast following the news of the attack, Secretary Carrick of the ISC issued the order to dispatch a 'threefold fleet' to the embattled world - hours before Chancellor Emil Ro took to the stage to in a separate announcement, declaring the New Republic (NR} fleet would be placed 'on standby'.

Experts at the Hyperlane Herald confirm that the 'Three-Fold Fleets' are advanced rapid response forces, developed by the ISC as part of the redevelopment of the Navy in the region. Designed for quick deployment across the galaxy, the sending of one of these fleets marks the largest deployment of ISC personnel in the organisation's history to date.

"Let me be clear; this is NOT a declaration of war or of allegiance to one side in the current conflict. But the Three-Fold Fleet will return fire on anyone who makes the decision to open fire - regardless of which side takes that shot. Thank you, but that is all for today. Please join me in wishing Fleet Admiral Izer and her convoy Godspeed and good luck."

~ Secretary Carrick

Keen to stress this was a relief mission, not an intervention in the ongoing and rapidly escalating conflict between the Free Worlds Alliance (FWA) and the Sith Empire (SE), Secretary Carrick stressed that the fleets would, however, defend themselves should they come under attack.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Emil Ro, in what is widely being viewed as the make of break moment of his young Chancellorship, announced that the 'seventh fleet' would be placed on standby, which has drawn widespread criticism.

"The Chancellor, in what is the largest crisis of his premiership thus far, has failed to send any sort of support to Firrerre. At the same time, he is adamant that the Sector Rangers, the last line of defence and response for many of these FWA worlds, should be under the sole jurisdiction of the New Republic."

"For a person who commenced their time in office by directly quoting one of the most prolific murderers in history, Emperor Palpatine, he seems to be going from bad to worse. Placing a fleet on 'standby', whilst the ISC sends an entire fleet to actually help Ferrerra, all the while plotting to strip the FWA of the only shared defence and relief group they have - the Sector Rangers."

"History will judge the Chancellors handling of this, and in the shadow of the ISCs response, he won't be judged lightly."

~ Professor Kal Kammack, University of the Core

A scathing attack on the Chancellor, but one echoed by many, including this unbias and entirely unpolitical newspaper, the Herald.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of the FWA has been, as usual, completely silent regarding the attack on one of their own worlds, with reports coming in that Senator Cal Starros of Lothal, who was planetside on Firrerra, and is now back supporting the relief effort, has scheduled an emergency session of the FWA Senate, and is expected to call for the Prime Minister to resign.

As Emil watched the situation on Denon unfold from the depths of the Situation Room deep within the New Republic Senate Building, Joost came into his office carrying a cup of hot coffee and a datapad with the latest press reports. The New Republic Intelligence Agency had just briefed him on the relief efforts being launched on Firrerre, so when he saw the article about his "lack of response" he simply chuckled darkly and slid away the datapad.

"No response, sir?" the aide asked.

"No, Joost," Emil replied, dipping his head in thanks as he took the coffee and sipped. "Let the press play their games. The big boys have work to do." @Nor'baal
