"Not today,"

As the bin came flying towards her, Aska remained in her firing position. Not due to steel nerves but the fact that everything before her took place so fast that she hadn't found the time to react. Once Lara had hit the bin mere feet from her face, she realised what was happening. She could only feel as though she had been made a fool for not being able to forsee such a simple tactic, but as her partner hit the ground and rolled across it's cool surface, the huntress returned to the task at hand as she tightened her hands on the grips of her pistol once again.

"YES TODAY!"

With Lara protecting the opposite flank and Amerath pressed up to a wall, her decision had pretty much been made by fate. She fired her gun once at the man's chest, then took a lead on her target in the opposite direction of the other huntress. The next two shots proceeded ahead of Amerath's predicted path should he attempt to evade the first shot. It was either that, or flee the other direction and come face to face with Lara's weapon.

Amerath's plan backfires on him. Now here he is against a wall, both huntresses aiming at him and ready to fire. And apparently one orn hem already has done.
Two blaster bolts come towards Amerath and he dives to the side, avoiding one of them. However another one comes toward him and, knowing he has no chance of avoiding it, raises his weak arm and let's the bolt hit it. He yells in pain as it hits his arm and smoke starts coming off of it. The impact of the hit sens Amerath arm flying into the wall but fortunately nothing was broken or fractured. However, he is still trapped in against the wall by the two bounty huntressses.

"All of you!" comes the shout of a booming voice. "Drop your weapons and put your hands on your head!"
Amerath looks in the direction of the voice. A group of about several or more police officers are standing with their rifles aimed at the three. Of course. Someone was ought to call the police to come sort this situation out. And for the first time in his life Amerath feels relieved about having police point their guns at him.
"Do as he says", says Amerath to the two huntresses whilst slowly putting down his gun (he does not fully put it on the floor until the bounty huntresses do too just in case they try to fire at him).

As Aska's blaster began to fire, Lara was sure all hell was about to break loose. As it happened, hell stayed firmly in place leaving only Amerath's singed arm as evidence that it's breaking was ever even a remote possibility. Their target was damaged and cornered, it seemed inevitable they'd get him and Lara prepared for that fateful moment. Her continuance, for his conclusion. It was at the cusp of this would be moment that a booming voice came to bear upon the trio. It commanded that they lower their weapons. Once the huntress looked over and determined the request came from quite an official source, Lara sighed and saw how this complicated things. Lara was fuzzy on her legal right to kill someone when it wasn't necesary, she could argue that was the terms of her bounty, but it was gray area at best, criminal at worst.

Lowering her weapon, but not dropping it, she activated her companion datapad and let it's speakers boom out. Lara set a preset for just this ocasion as she often bumbled trying to explain why she was carting around angry looking criminals or their corpses. Allowing the prerecording to play Lara hoped this would diffuse this otherwise tense situation,

"GREETINGS AUTHORITIES AND/OR ONLOOKERS. THE ACTION YOU ARE SEEING BEFORE YOU IS NOT A RANDOM ACT OF VIOLENCE AND/OR KIDNAPPING. THIS IS THE WORK OF BOUNTY HUNTERS FROM THE BOUNTY HUNTER'S GUILD, AUTHORIZED DEPUTIES WIELDING REPUBLIC AUTHORITY BASED ON BYLAW 652.3 OF THE CHARTER OF CIVILIAN ENFORCEMENT. BOTH HUNTERS SHALL REVEAL THEIR ACCREDITED BOUNTY HUNTING BADGES FOR REVIEW AND YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO LOOK UP THE FILE ON THEIR ACQUISITION."

Sighing, Lara let her gun fall and instead of putting her hands on her heads she produced her badge which lifted from it's case to produce a projected and enlarged holographic image with her picture, her credentials, who to contact to verify, and her stats (she added that for style). She hoped Aska would do the same, but what came next was anyones guess.

As the officer's approached Lara for a brevity entertained that these might be Amerath's friends and held up her hands saying,

"Can we see your badges? It's required by the same bylaw," her smile was disarming, hopefully.

As Amerath struck the wall, Aska prepared to pepper him once again with blaster fire but was vut short by the sudden demand of her weapons to be lowered. She turned only to see a group of law enforcement agents with their rifles drawn. She responded by rolling her eyes and plucking the datapad from her belt.

"Do as he says," Amerath stated as he began to place his blaster on the ground but as it hovered over the ground from him not releasing his own weapon, Aska jabbed her heel down for the back of his wrist to hold his hand in place.

"Be quiet. This isn't over for you," Aska spat in response as Lara's recording filled the alley. Once it concluded, she also emitted the holo of her badge of the guild and contact information, all the while keeping her attention and blaster trained on the head of her mark. "Go ahead, do a search of this guy. You'll see that he's wanted by your government and he will be coming with us. Stopping us would be aiding and abetting a known fugitive, and the Guild Mistress knows many people. Your actions aren't gonna go unnoticed," She spoke calmly to the men, but her attention never shifted from Amerath as he lay wounded on the ground.

"Can we see your badges? It's required by the same bylaw,"

Aska smirked at her companions request before speaking up again. "Your damn rights it is, boys. Offer em up, or head back to the precinct and let us finish our job before any civilians get hurt by a fleeing criminal,"

Amerath watches as everything happens. The policemen show badges to prove that they are real and don't know Amerath. Then the bounty huntress whose trod on Amerath's wrist says something about letting them take care of him as a criminal.
"Surely they should be the ones taking me", says Amerath who is beginning to come up with a possibly successful plan. "After all they are trained and equipped with this type of business. Surely they should be the ones arresting me. I'm sure they'd rather me be put behind bars than goodness knows what just for some money."
Amerath notices the fact that the police speeders aren't too far away. All he'd need to do is somehow get to them and they're he'd be able to escape. He then sighs and, trying to sound reasonable, explains to the policemen, "Listen, mister policemen. I was just having a nice drink before they came and pointed their guns at me. I'd be more than happy to take this to court to explain."
Of course Amerath isn't planning to go to court. Somehow, as he always does, he would manage to escape their grasp and be free once again.

It seemed this issue with the fuzz was fast becoming less of a problem and more of an annoyance. As the police flashed their badges, Lara noted the official seals, either legit or too good to tell. Her fears of an ambush subsided slightly as Aska asked them to search their fugitive and figure out what a dirt bag he was. It was at this moment that the bounty huntress realized she had no clue what this guy did. She was about to kill someone she didn't know for totally impersonal monetary reasons and was legitimized in doing so by a litany of bureaucratic nonsense created by elephants in a room full of helium. At least that’s how her poly-sci class described it. It wasn't a pleasant thought, but neither was the thought of going another day hungry because she couldn't eat the three new pairs of shoes she just bought because she already set them on fire for warmth.

Still Amerath wasn't going quietly, Lara could say the guy wouldn't shut up, but you know stones in glass houses and what not. Lara wanted to throw a glass stone house at Amerath for being so difficult, but seeing as how she was supposed to off him, she figured that was punishment enough. Now it seemed he wanted to be taken in by the 'legitimate' authorities which would be a hard argument to make. Technically a bounty hunters job was to deliver criminals to the authorities, so here they were having technically done their job. Outside of the realm of technicality was their actual job. Amerath had to die. No ifs ands or buts.

So there was the rub, how to rub out Amerath. So as the fellow tried to smooth talk his way out of their clutches and into the relative safety of trial by jury of his peers, Lara made a quick cross check of by laws. When she was child she was often witness or subject to injustice so some small part of her wanted to be a lawyer. That part manifested in looking up a curious amount of cases and laws, but it seemed to be apropos right now. Smirking as something caught her eye she said,

“Hold everything!”

Not recognizing that nothing needed to be held other than an older man working at a deli across the way who didn’t receive enough love as a child. Not allowing her momentum to be lost Lara began her recitation,

“As was decided in case law in Blessi Guild v Department of Republic Justice, criminals apprehended by those under the bounty hunter case law are to return all taken individuals to the highest authority without impedance by local authorities i.e. you guys . Our Amerath here is destined to be seen by Head Justicar, Moray Peterson presiding and is expecting him within the day. While I understand you wish to do your due diligence do note that said diligence is being performed as deemed by the wishes of the high courts. So without further ado we will take our charge and leave.”

With that she strode over and grabbed Amerath and for added effect flashed the wanted poster and bounty contract stating some of the information she put forth.

She failed to mention the good judges job was simply to make payment and his only prerequisite was an identified Amerath, alive…or otherwise. However, that didn’t seem pertinent.

As Lara began to reiterate the case file, of which could have been pulled out of thin air as far as she knew, Aska kept her weight pushed directly on top of Amerath's wrist and made sure to twist her heel whenever she had a moment from from anyone's attention. She could hear the knuckles and bones popping and cracking in his hand before she stopped to allow Lara a chance to pick him up from the ground. Once he was on his feet, Aska quickly snapped some plastisteel cuffs on him with his hands behind his back, then proceeded to package up his blaster with any other possible weapon she had found on him during the search. Once she was certain that Amerath was well detained, she pulled out her comlink.

"Drytas, prep the ship and come get us. Upper promenade, I'm sending you the co-ordinates now,"

"As you wish, woman. I shall be there soon. Are we taking on an extra body?"

"Two, actually,"

The Law enforcement now gone, Aska pushed the end of her pistol into the small of Amerath's back and growled into his ear. "Go, and don't make any sudden moves." She kept her free hand firmly grasped on the linkage between each cuff, and turned to Lara. "Good work back there, Lara. Despite the whole smoke screamer thing, your not so bad after all," She gave her partner a small smile before she saw the landing pad up ahead. The descending sun and emptying street showed Aska her opportunity was now. As she passed an alley, she quickly moved her hand from the shackles to the neck cuff of Amerath's jacket and mustered all her strength to throw him to the ground face first where she would quickly aim her blaster and fire three rounds towards the back of his head.

Amerath flinches as he is thrown face first onto the floor. With his hands behind his back, handcuffed, he feels very helpless especially when his nose is most likely broken with blood pouring out of it. However, he can luckily hear the bounty huntress readying her blaster just in time.
To avoid the bolts that are no doubt aiming for him he rolls over to the side and manages to just about avoid the bolts which he can't manage to see how many were being fired - certainly more than one or two.
After having avoided the, he looks up towards the bounty huntress - partially expecting a beating - and weakly says, "I thought you were trying to keep me alive. Not brutally beat me to death." Trying to sound reasonable as there's nothing else he can do, he says, "Why are you trying to kill me? How do you know if I have actually committed any crimes or not? What if your contractor lied? If he is lying, you're going down to prison for murder. Plus if you need evidence I wasn't doing anything. You saw me - all I was doing was trying to get a drink. You're the assholes who blew the building up."

Lara tried to ignore the brutality Amerath was enduring. Her whole life she had been silent witness to cruelty, when she wasn’t witness, she was victim. There was certain powerlessness in her position of supposed superiority. Who was nobler in this moment, the victorious huntresses who found prey less savage than they, or the quarry cornered and fighting till the end.
Aska’s praise was unexpected, but intriguing. Lara could argue till blue in the face that her throwing of the grenade saved them a fight, but ultimately it was luck that brought them to Amerath and better luck that they didn’t lose him. Blue wasn’t her color in the end and she took the praise with a simple,

“You’re not so bad yourself Aska”

Time slowed down from that moment as Amerath was thrust forward to meet his maker. He met the floor first as it was and what was left of his noise bled freely onto the alley as he skillfully dodged another go of the reaper’s scythe. When he asked his question, Lara felt a pain in her stomach. Ignorance of cruel fates was all that kept her alive, but for this poor soul it would surely kill him.

His accusations flew some hitting, some missing, but the hits were brutal on the green bounty huntress who had only stuck to the alive side of dead or alive. Faith was nothing particularly dear to Lara, but at the end of the day she had to believe in something. She believed Diva was kind to her in a life where few even noticed her, she believed this job suited her, she believed almost all the people she captured deserved it.
Almost.

Lara couldn’t survive on a precipice of doubt she had to jump or turn away. She’d turned away so often from things that could have resembled a family, a lover, and anything resembling hope. So she made that choice. She jumped.
Lifting her gun she pulled the trigger and then pulled it again and again and again, she aimed at his knees, his chest, his arms. She ceased firing when half her clip was gone, but she was but a few feet away and the alley was scorched with her decisive and final strike. Blinking as her eyes adjusted to the scene before her she said one word,

“Bang”

Once Amerath came to a stop from evading her barrage of fire, Aska was urged to pounce on him and slam her blade deep into his neck to just end things the old fashioned way until he spoke up.

"I thought you were trying to keep me alive. Not brutally beat me to death." With a chuckle, the huntress lowered her weapon only slightly, which wasn't endangering herself at all since Lara had her weapon pointed directly at the mark.

"Orders change in the blink of an eye, sweet heart," Raising her weapon and preparing to pull the trigger again, she found herself interrupted once more.

"Why are you trying to kill me? How do you know if I have actually committed any crimes or not? What if your contractor lied? If he is lying, you're going down to prison for murder. Plus if you need evidence I wasn't doing anything. You saw me - all I was doing was trying to get a drink. You're the assholes who blew the building up."

"Seriously?" Aska replied. "We're bounty hunters, you numb skull. Bounty. Hunters. We hunt people who have bounties placed on them. Republic bounties. The ID holos we just showed those officers give us the right too kill you, no questions asked. And it doesn't matter if you were just sitting there. Not to me, not to Lara, not to any hunter in the galaxy, and the building can be repaired. You have a price on your head, and I intend to get paid," With that, Aska joined in the flurry of fire that her companion had unleashed. Emptying the remainder of her clip towards Amerath, she kept the knife clenched in her left hand should he miraculously shed his shackles and somehow evade the glowing hailfire.

Hope seemed to be lost. Amerath is on the floor with his arms handcuffed and has a few metres distance from a person who is trying to kill him. Now two people trying to kill him.
The other bounty huntress has brought her gun out and is just working on loading it. Once that is done, she begins to open fire first at Amerath's legs. Amerath starts kicking his legs about, making them a hard target and successfully it worked. However, the other huntress joins in as they both aim at his chest. Recognising it is hopeless to try and dodge it, Amerath uses his already injured arm to block the shots.
Amerath begins yelling in pain as he blocks them. His arm's skin starts slowly sinking down most likely to the bone and no doubt is it far from being shot off of his body. A few shots hit his shoulder and one, as far as he can tell, hits the edge of his hip. The pain to him is unbearable but he will have to put up with it if he wants to continue living.
Suddenly an idea pops into Amerath's head. He moves his handcuffs in line to roughly where about they are aiming for and lets their final few shots luckily hit the handcuffs. The handcuffs are then broken off and Amerath's hands are released.

Almost immediately, Amerath leaps onto his feet and acknowledges the fact they have empty clips and decides that he needs to use this to his advantage. So without hesitation, Amerath seizes the opportunity and turns around and sprints down the alley whilst they are still loading/preparing to load their guns.
After having sprinted down into the alley far enough so he is covered by shadows, Amerath notices how he's come towards a dead end. "Sh*t", he mutters underneath his breath.
However, as he steps forward he notices that he's trod on something metallic and hollow. Of course - a sewer opening. He, as fast as he can, crouches down and pulls out the sewer opening. He throws it towards the bounty huntresses' direction in case they are gaining in on him and hopes that'll serve as a distraction in some shape or form.
Amerath then, without hesitation, dives jumps into the sewer opening and lands in the dirty water at on the floor. He then starts sprinting down the sewer corridors, creating noisy splashes which will most likely alert the bounty huntresses of his location.

Lara would’ve been impressed if she wasn’t so pissed off. Here she was having a moment of true inspiration and clarity and after firing half her clip, Amerath had the audacity to ruin it with his crazy acrobatics. From what she saw while his arms were freed he was shot to all hell. Despite the heat of their shots some merely grazed him leaving a highly detectable trail of blood to follow. Bleeding and running, unarmed, and alone. He was a dead man walking, running technically but you get the idea.
Not having to stop as her gun was still half-full, Lara followed but held her fire realizing she would need to get his legs if this night was ever going to end. As the huntress saw the alley end she figured this would be fitting, dead-end for the dead as it were. As fate would have it a sewer grate was about and Amerath managed to pull it up with only one good arm and chuck it straight at her. Lara spun to avoid the brunt of this blunt attack and ended up taking it right in the funny bone,

“Owie that’s not funny at all!” the huntress exclaimed as she seethed and jumped after the escapee who had yet again made a fool of the reaper. Clearly this fellow was a fan of Blue Oyster Cult as he didn’t fear the reaper at all. For some reason Lara figured this chase needed more cowbell.

“Slow down jerk your just making this harder on both of us!”

Lara was quite over the whole misgivings of killing this guy, he knew the rules of cops and robbers and now he was cheating. Plus Lara really hated sewers, mainly due to her crippling fear of alligators. Or was it crocodiles?
The two hits on her right arm had done their work and the huntress already felt the lingering pain of two deep seated bruises, but she couldn’t let up now. Still seeing the sprinting Amerath she wondered what she could do to stop him. Inspiration struck suddenly as she saw an oncoming turn. Placing her blaster in a holster she reached on her belt and produced her two grappling guns. Aiming it as best she could, the huntress fired the at the wall ahead. Both hit their mark with a satisfying smack and she pulled back letting Aska go ahead.
Now Amerath would have to get past one wire at chest level and another at knee level to progress while bleeding and maintaining his breakneck pace with Aska close behind,
“Bring it home Aska!” she called hoping her partner had called in her friend to track them and provide air support if Amerath managed to surface.

The sudden jerking and twisting of Amerath's legs caught Aska off guard. The man was already in extreme pain from having a blasted arm, and yet here he was clinging to life with everything he had. Though this made her job all the more complicated and had begun to earn a deep loathing of the man, he had developed some respect from her as well. Anyone who fought this hard to live clearly had something worth living for. This would still not stop her. As Amerath was shot in the shoulder and hip, Aska prepared herself to pounce on the man so she could finish the job but was cut short as he managed to free himself from the binders and began to sprint, or more or less hobble from the hip injury, down the alley.

A painfully obvious dead end laid at the opposite side, so Aska was in no real rush to pursue her mark. Instead, she allowed Lara to take the lead as she loaded a new clip into her blaster and pulled the second from it's holster. This confidence was misplaced, however, as Amerath managed to pull off the astounding feat of lifting the manhole cover with one arm and some how managing to throw it. Lara moved quickly, but not quickly enough as the steel plate made an impact. Now with the bounty jumping down into the sewers, things were about to get a lot worse. Shortly after the injured man jumped down the man hole, both Aska and Lara were in hot pursuit.

Amerath gained ground in the disgusting water at their feet, moving in towards the first turn in the sewer system. Suddenly, Lara shot her grappling hooks directly into the wall at the perfect height for both chest and knee level, which gave Aska an idea.

"Grappling Hooks. Oh my god, why do I always forget about those??" Aska groaned as she sprinted behind the escaping bounty. Digging into her pocket with the tips of her fingers, she is able to remove one of the grappling attachments for her weapons and secures it in place with a satisfying 'click' before taking aim at Amerath's legs. She pulled the trigger, and the hook soared through the pungent air towards their target, while she raised her second blaster and began to fire three rounds to the other side of Amerath, opposite Lara's steel cables.

Amerath hears a noise behind him and turns to see that the bounty huntress has started gaining in on him. Once question remains in his mind that probably think the exact same thing: When will they ever stop?
However he can not stop running. He isn't far from the end of the corridor where he'll be able to turn round a corner into other corridors and will likely be able to get them off of his tail. Then he can climb up the ladders he finds and make it back to the surface where he'll be able to escape from them finally.
"Argh!" Amerath yells as his thinking is interrupted by a hook tying itself round Amerath's legs really quickly. It is no doubt a grapple hook as Amerath can recognise the simple yet familiar look and function of the device especially having had one of his own.
After the hook as finished, three blaster bolts come towards firing towards Amerath's side and knock his injured arm off once and for all. He watches as his arm goes flying off into the disgusting sewer waters and how they slowly begin turning red.
With the hook and blaster bolts having both hit him, he struggles to stay on his feet. Now it truly is over for Amerath. For most of his life he's managed to somehow survive to die the other day. And this other day might unfortunately be it...

Adrenaline. It can do incredible things, allowing people to break past the point of no return in a dead sprint towards uncertain freedom. While it can help you avoid point blank shots, lift up sewer grates with one good arm, and run faster than any injured man should, it can’t bring your arm back.

As Lara watched Aska follow up on her plan perfectly leading to the fateful shots hitting Amaerath’s already scorched arm and seeing that arm fly off into the murky depths of the sewer, the bounty huntress struggled to hold in her lunch. Luckily she hadn’t eaten in two days so that wasn’t so hard.

Everything about this hunt was messed up from the execution to the deadly bomb dropped on them halfway through. Lara wondered idly who had it out for poor Amerath and how cruel they must be to force their demise without chance of explanation or redemption. Whether Lara was a cog in the machine or not she didn’t care. She was hungry and as sickening or heartless as it was Amerath was a few shots away from being a meal ticket. Not in a cannibal way though.

Held fast by the hook and quite literally disarmed, Lara saw this hunt was at last over and done. Her lips creasing into a frown, the bounty huntress produced her blaster once more and mouthed the word ‘sorry’ as she pulled the trigger. A mercy shot headed straight for his heart to provide death near instantly. Despite everything Lara hoped his pain would be minimal and then not at all.

Downcast and looking into the murkiness of the sewer, Lara saw her life. Filth in a pipe heading somewhere new, not necessarily getting cleaner or dirtier, merely moving away from others more easily offended. Blinking, her nose crinkling in recognition of the smell, Lara realized her own adrenaline was fading and fast.

Clutching her bruised arm, Lara fell against the sewer wall feeling at the very least a sprain. Doing her best to grin and bear it, Lara looked over at Aska and muttered,

“Got any pain killers?”

As Amerath fell into the murky water, Aska knew it was finally all over. All of his running had come to an end, and it was to to finish what they had started. Slowly she made her way to the struggling man, watching as he came to the realisation his arm was no longer 'his'. Yet oddly enough, he wasn't screaming in pain or begging for his life. This time, he laid there quietly with the telltale gaze of a person who had came to accept their fate. She had seen it before, of course, but this time she took a moment too appreciate her foe's bravery. As Lara arrived at her side, Aska kneeled down next to the man.

"This all could have been so much simpler if you just bought me that drink," With a smile breaking across the edge of her lips, the huntress stood and took a couple steps back in time for Lara to aim her weapon and fire the final shot. The sound echoed through the sewer, startling the life forms that made the mess their home that embodied the echo with the sound of their scurrying to safety. Finally, her blasters both were slid into their holsters and she turned to see her partner sitting on the grounch, clutching her arm in pain.

"Got any pain killers?" Aska couldn't help but let out a chuckle at the request.

"You came to the right girl, Lara. Drytas, are you there?""

"Waiting for you, as usual human,"

"There's an open sewer grate in an alley right near you. Come find it and bring a rope, plus my... 'medication' box," The Trandoshan, even injured, should be able to lift the corpse from the sewers and prepare to stow Amerath on board. "And please hurry. I desperately need a shower,"

It is said that in your last moments of death your life flashes in front of your eyes. And so it does. Amerath can see flashbacks of his days in Tatooine, when he escaped Tatooine, the battle he fought in Alderaan, him escaping prison and this lady carrying a baby to safety. No doubt is this his mother. However she doesn't die as he thought she did. No, she is shot by a man. And Amerath is put into the escape pod by the man to escape the Tusken Raiders.
'It was going to happen one day', Amerath repeatedly thinks to himself and maybe a few times it comes out of his mouth too.
And then with a brief moment of pain everything goes dark.

It was over with a bang and a whimper. As Aska dispensed her gallows humor, Lara tried to smile, but found it turn into a wince as she rubbed her damaged arm. Getting off the wall she retrieved her grappling guns to the best of her ability and placed them back in her coat. It was at this moment her nose crinkled as yet another rancid smell joined the symphony of decay surrounding them. Hearing Aska’s orders, Lara was beyond glad transport was not on the menu.

Hearing that ‘medication’ was on the way, the huntress did her best to relax. Within a few moments light poured down as a sewer grate was opened and a rope descended. Feeling a slight splash on her leg, Lara looked down to reveal the late Amerath’s arm lightly brushing against her. Blinking twice, Lara did what she did best with feelings she couldn’t comprehend. She joked about them. Grasping the limb she turned to Aska and said,

“You know what would have helped Amerath,” she produced the arm swinging it about, “Armor haha!”

Two could play the gallows humor game. It was at that moment she heard the lamenting desire for a shower and declared, “Room for one more?!”
