[[I consider this thread canon, lightsaber only, and a non-death match.]]

Nuala brought her arms overhead and tensed, stretching her back and muscles, as her footsteps carried her into the Temple's training room. What with Cath being so pre-occupied lately, there was a sudden abundance of time to be had. Oh, sure, there were still classes and lessons and the like. But it was amazing what kind of time you could come up with when you weren't being tortured for three days straight.

After lowering her arms and taking in her surroundings, Nuala deemed this to be pretty standard as far as training rooms went. There was some gym equipment here and there. But what really interested her was the big area set aside for lightsaber duels.

Curious, she wandered over to the big circle; her eyes turned it over. Come to think of it, she really hadn't gotten much lightsaber practice in. She drew her training lightsaber and gave it an experimental twirl through her fingers. Oh well, there was no time like the present...

Enter Vei Hettoran:

The small Jawa as usual was meditating in the center of the room. His Lightsabers were undrawn, but floating around him spinning in axis of orbit. Practicing his Telekinetic control of them was his major function. He'd Just finished adapting his 'U' strike, and looked around to see someone who felt like they could use a training partner.

He stood up from meditation, streatching out his legs to touch his feet to the ground before walking over to the girl. "Hi! my names Vei." He said smiling. "Would you like a training partner?" His lightsabers were still floating around him as he kept his focus of the force on them, talking, and doing other things helped him train and learn. Though a couple of seconds later, each of them flew into either of his hands...

They looked strange in design, how strange was yet to be realised. Vei treasures his lightsabers. "That is of course, if you wouldn't mind at all..." He finished. The mistress Ayva had also been busy with her many Padiwans, to the point that Vei felt a little disheartened personally, though he respected her entirely for the effort she put into her chosen dozen.

Unfortunately, Nuala's first response was to come to a dead stop and stare at the... thing standing in the middle of the training room floor. What was that supposed to be? Abruptly, the realization of how rude she was being knocked her back to reality. She shook her head quickly and gave the little guy an apologetic smile.

"I wouldn't mind at all, Vei. My name's Nuala. I would be glad to train with you." She replied, hoping that that would make up for some of the awkward pause.

The thought appeared in her mind that she really needed to stop being so surprised by the assorted aliens that came her way. That was poor form for a Jedi. It was something to work on.

Although, come to think of it, she'd best lower some expectations. "I'm not very good yet, though. So don't expect to be amazed or anythin'." Understatement of the year, that was.

Vei smiled beneath his mask and hood. The air around him seemed light, and filled with energy. He was a very happy Jawa, and his emotions could be felt in the air around him almost. Solely because of his open nature. But by no means were they not controlled. Knowledge of emotions and feeling came easily to one with many, and moderation was simple. Emotion was a choice, you can choose to be affected by something. And so, he refrained from choice. And remained happy.

"It's quite allright, it's a bit different than just being mistaken for a small child, which slowly begins to test your faith." He said with a slight laugh.

"Excellent... So, a one on one spar then?" He held one hand to his back and braced. Extending his other arm, outstreatched before him, the blade angled at her, but away from himself. "You don't learn through inactivity after all, maybe I can help you imporove?" He smiled, wondering what form she used with a deep seeded curiosity.

"Believe me, pal. I need all the help I can get." Nuala gave him an easy grin. "A one-on-one spar sounds good. Hopefully, I'll learn somethin'."

A snap-hiss signaled the activation of her blade; as it did, Nuala reminded herself not to fight dirty. This was an honorable fight. She didn't need to fight tooth and nail for survival. With that thought firmly in mind, she brought her blade up in a standard Form 1 guard. It wasn't fancy, but it was all that she knew.

Man, the air in here was really infectious. She could feel herself feeling much better just by being around the Jawa. It was funky, really.

"Ready when you are, squirt." She kept her voice light enough that Vei would know it was a mark of friendship and not an insult.

Vei smiled, "Excellent, then let us see where your up to then." He didn't feel like countering her style too hardly. Though far from holding back, he slipped his other saber into his sleeve on the clip that lay there. Extending the two blades from his first lightsaber. Each of his small handled lightsabers protruded two blades. Similar to a one handed saberstaff. Though the total diameter of the weapon was only three feet, any longer and the bade would be too weak and fragile.

Spinning the weapon from side to side and switching hand with it to create a facade of complexity from where his weapon would be coming from. After spinnging the weapon around his back he came for a speedy test flurry of blows from either side of his opponent with the double ended blade.

Low, high, high, high, Low, Low, High!

In quick succession before he would step back alternating between left and right with each strike.

Mercifully, she managed to contain her surprise of the weapon, otherwise she might not have survived the first exchange. Nuala pushed everything from her mind but the here and now, watched the Jawa's movements carefully and tried to react in kind.

For the most part, she was successful, if a bit slow on the uptake. While she managed to block the incoming attacks, her read of them was less than splendid. The block for each successive attack was just a little slower and sloppier as Nuala moved quickly to keep up with the midget... and he even pushed her back a step as she fought to keep up with him.

Now it was her turn; she wasn't going to give it up. Nuala stepped forward, feinting to the left before twitching the blade around to go for a shallow stroke on the shoulder. Then she pulled away at the last moment and brought her blade around in a quick sweep towards the Jawa's opposite shoulder.

"Gotta admit, yer throwin' me off, Vei." She flashed him a grin. "It's not often I spare with someone that's more my size."

Vei fell for the feint, his emotional scaling was enough to cause him to attempt to protect that side of his body, though, being so used to spinning his weapons, he arched the other side of the blade up and around in one 360 degree rotation. Blocking the other strike to his shoulder with the weapon held in both hands for support.

Vei looked at her and blinked... he was three feet tall. Half the height of an average person... slightly under a meter. He smiled.

"You fight like a friend of mine. She's a fencer... And a lethal one at that. I wonder how well you'd do at it... you're wrist movements are quick enough for sure..."
It didn't look too hard, Vei thought, maybe he could show her.... "Hold your blade point first at me at the full length of your arm. I'd have to strike or parry your blade to get past it. And, in coaxing me into that. I create an opening for you to lunge or strike. Just a suggestion... you might like it."

The Jawa smiled. slowly exhanging hands with his blade and spinning it slowly around his body. hearing the whirring of the blades as they crossed past his ears... Fencing with a lightsaber... it was almost what the weapons were made for.

"Huh, interesting." Nuala mused aloud.

She took a moment to think through that description. The hard part would be getting any sort of force or power into the blow; in order to do that, she'd almost have to be turned to the side. For a second, she thought about delaying trying it out, but... eh... there wasn't any cause to be suspicious. She was with a friend.

"I'll try it. No time like the present!"

A quick spring took her forward and Nuala angled herself so that she turned her profile to the Jawa. Her arm snapped forward, aiming a powerful thrust right at the little guy's chest.

"The beauty of the lightsaber is it needs no force behind it. Like me, you don't look like the strongest Jedi around here, with the Cathaar, and the other large species that walk these halls. Play to your strengths. " He said with a smile.

But Vei was taken by suprise with the strike and with the spinning of his lightsaber he tried to parry it taking a light graze to the shoulder. Squeaking at the pain he flipped back and drew his other lightsaber of the same description. Beginning to spin them into his styles true intention for them. Two, small lightdisks.

The Force wrapped around his hands and fingers strengthening them. Whilst his natural dexterity took care of the rest. He held one of the helicopter blades out in front. This was his offensive blade. The other, he span level to his back. This, was his defensive blade.

"That was really good." Vei spoke with a smile. "That style is accompanied very well by Makashi... And i think if you wish to become a duelist Makashi would serve you very well." Vei waited for a response. Afterwards. Vei would close the gap quickly. Assuming she was still in the same stance. He would use his first disk to knock her blace aside and slide in close. where switching his attack and defense hands he swung the defence blade around his body trying to keep her blade behind him for a close range slash from hip to hip.

Things suddenly took a turn for the crazy as Vei pulled out a second lightsaber and went nuts with it. Nuala felt a little bad over grazing him. She hadn't been intending to actually hurt him. On the other hand, the scratch didn't seem to have slowed him down. If anything, it had spurred him on.

She fell for his first deflection, and immediately felt the weight shift as he began pulling her lightsaber along its deflection course. Reacting on instinct, Nuala killed the blade, allowing her to come free of any follow-up grip, and twisted away from the swirling lightsabers. It was her turn to grunt, now, as the blades nicked her hip.

Her blade sprang back to life as she settled back into a defensive stance. She kept the weight off of her bad leg. She needed to let her body adjust to the wound before putting any strain on it.

"Yeah... I'm not the strongest person around, I get by on being quick, fast and fighting dirty." She paused for a second to change mental gears. "Makashi, huh? Sounds interesting and right up my alley. I'll look into it."

Nuala held back, waiting on Vei to make the next move. She wasn't at all familiar with his present form, and decided that she'd rather counter-attack and learn his techniques instead of rushing in blind.

(his style is yoda grevous... for the correct mental image.)

Vei Slid past her with the hit of the strike, his lightsabers were set on a lower power setting for training purposes. They would only hurt, and not physically damage his opponent more than a nasty looking red mark. From here he paused his attack again as she spoke.

"When you're weapons extended like that. If i actually hit it, it generates a lot of momentum. You can use that in a spin and counterattack in a Sun Djem, using the spin to strike the weapon and disarm them with their own force, Cho Mok, to take an arm, Sai Tok, to divide them or even the deadly Mou Kei, drop your weight, step in and sweep in a 'U' and strike at all four of your opponents limbs at once." Vei performed them as they were written in form one, one after the other as he said them.

They were pointers, little more. If she studied them, with the keen footwork of Makashi. Then she could be unstopable.

Vei left her to process this, before charging in to strike her again, reguardless of her stance. ruuning in he jumped. Leveling his body horizontally in middair and striking at throat height with one blade. Rounding the flip off like a shaolin monk. He landed crouched spinning and swinging for her knees with the same weapon. The blade levelled on his back to defend him.

Nuala held her ground, holding to her idea of watching and waiting. Vei suddenly took off like a midget rocket. Her eyes narrowed as she traced the path of his blades. Her lightsaber came up, deflecting the blow at her neck, and then she was caught off guard as he dropped and rounded down for a second strike.

On instinct, Nuala jumped, intending to clear the blade. It worked, for the most part, and she was momentarily airborne over the Jawa. She rolled the motion into a downward slice of her blade-- aiming at Vei's left shoulder. It was a bit of an awkward blow as it was a reaction maneuver and not a planned one, but hopefully it would still count for something.

She'd have loved to drop a reply, but there wasn't any time for it this exchange. It would have to wait until there was a lull in the fighting.

Vei's back blade span guarding his back from above. The strenuous weight pushed him to his knees. Though, after the initial impact he was able to raise a foot again. This was the perfect position for the 'U' strike. The first of Vei's individual techniques. Stepping into her and parrying her blade 'up' she would find it increadibly hard to bring her lightsaber 'down' to guard in time. Vei sidewindered the other blade it leavig his hand. Out streatching no more than a foot and a half in length from his body it short-range-boomeranged for her.

Spinning his body 180 vei would recieve the thrown blade and step backward with the momentum of the speedy slightly telekinetic oriented attack. Stopping the spin of both of his 'disks' temporarily and holding each still in either hand. Assessing the effectiveness of the horizontal strike to the midsection.

Nuala fell backwards from the initial block; her impromptu maneuver had left her off-balance and with poor footing. The problem was that she never had the chance to recover her footing at all. Vei was on her in an instant, knocking her blade up and leaving herself wide open for an assault.

Faced with this predicament, there was only one thing to do: she let go of her lightsaber. The blade deactivated as it left her hand and spun away. Nuala, for her part, followed the motion in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, that did little for her own good. The lightsaber frisbee smacked into her side, drawing a yelp from her lips.

Her hand stretched out and her own lightsaber reversed course and shot back to her hand. Nuala got her feet underneath her, centered her balance, and snapped the blade back to life. She gave the Jawa an easy grin.

"You're pretty good, Vei. I'm going to have to work hard to catch up with your skill." She meant what she said. The little guy was hard to keep up with when he really put his effort into it. Maybe the wait-and-see approach wasn't such a good idea...

Vei smiled. "You're a little clumsy, but that's why I mentioned Makashi. Makashi, although it may take you a while to learn, i widely consider the 'best' of all the forms, at least for dueling purposes." He smiled. The attack, would have essentially divided her liver, and possibly even a kidney.

She didn't 'need' to improve, from what Vei assertained, she was at the skill level of her entry. By no means was she bad with her lightsaber. It was nothing that time would not fix. The force was strong in Vei, though unbeknowen to him, some of his strength came from a reserve he didn't yet own...

"Again?" He asked, offering another bout, though he was tiard. Truth be told, it was the fifth day he was here, the fifth day he was yet to actually sleep the large reason why Vei was taking this duel so one stap at a time was his focus was slowly turning to mush. Meditation had been his sourse of rest on his stay here. And although the trance and embrace of the force was comforting. It didn't have quite the rejuvinative properties of sleep.

"I'm sorry. he spoke. I'm just a little tiard." He said with a slight laugh.

"Well, part of the reason that I'm off-kilter is because I'm holding myself back. I'm used to fighting down and dirty and getting the job done. So trying to fight just with the lightsaber and no tricks is a bit new to me." Nuala explained. It wasn't to save face, she was just laying the facts out on the table. Her actions were at odds with her instincts and that was really slowing her down.

She lowered her blade and let it hang in space where she could easily bring it up to bear in a moment's notice. Just because she was among friends didn't mean that she was going to let her guard down. If she did that, then she was just asking for trouble.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to go again. But I don't want to deprive you of your rest, either. I know how important that is." She really did. You didn't truly appreciate sleep until Cath had kept you awake for seven days straight. Then you saw it for how great it really was.

Snikch blinked... "Then don't... Fight me as you would fight any opponent. I don't mind some harsher sparring. Might attract a crowd." He said with a kind smile beneath his mask, which to this point was doing all the translating from jawanese to Basic.

"This time, no holding back. I'll be insulted if you do. Just like when mistress Ayva held back on me... She broke my arm when she serioused up. But i got her to serious up." He said beginning to spin his blades until they became a blur and formed their 'disk' state again. He waited to see if her stance would change, and he waited for her reply, or her assault.

The jawa took his usual stance, defensive blade behind so he could turn into enemy attacks. Offensive blade out front so he could attack, and block with it, if needed. He didn't mind if she fought dirty. The aspect of fighting was to win, reguardless of how pretty you looked. If you were more effective fighter doing something else. Then do it.

Well, that's what Vei thought...

"Okay, well... you asked for it." Nuala replied.

She moved forward in a quick rush, darting across the distance separating herself from Vei. As she moved, her hands passed the lightsaber back and forth between her palms-- from the right hand to the left and back again, carving an arc through the air with each pass. The effect was a glowing ribbon of light that was hard to follow.

As she came in close, Nuala flipped the lightsaber over to her right hand and went into the same driving stab that Vei had described earlier. Her blade snapped out at arm's length, driving towards the Jawa's chest. At the same time, she formed a ball of force overhead and sent it slamming straight at the Jawa's forehead. If he blocked the blade but not the push, then the force push should stun him long enough for her to get a few digs in.

As she rushed for her stab Vei could feel the force accumulate near her. Summersaulting backwards with a feat of acrobatics the defensive spinning blade at his back would parry her weapon up. The blast of force energy soaring overhead to smack into the wall of the training hall.

Landing low, He bought his offensive disk up in an uppercut like arc. Switching his footing from left to right, advancing inwards he followed with upward strikes interchanging from left to right moving in all the while with the rapid onslought of fancy footwork.

(sorry for the short length, just didn't wanna monolouge it. And that's all that really needed to be done.)
