NAME: Kalypsa Reizei
FACTION: N/A
RANK: N/A
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 21
GENDER: Female
HEIGHT: 5'8"
WEIGHT: 130 lbs.
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Black
SKIN: White
CREDITS: 1,000
DISTINGUISHING MARKS:
-Diagonal scar going across her back from her right shoulder blade to the left side of her lower back
-Several smaller scars scattered all over her body
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes
COMPOSITION AND APPEARANCE:
Having spent countless hours training and fighting, Kalypsa's body is strong and lean without being bulky or excessively muscular. Her height is only slightly above average, although she carries herself with the pride and confidence of a seven foot tall Amazon.

Her hair is jet black, long and straight, which is how it usually stays and her skin is lightly tanned. Her eyes are a dark chocolate brown, more or less unremarkable and the polar opposite of her plump lips that would be the envy of many women. She's what most people would consider to be quite beautiful, although her scars may be off-putting to some.

Kalypsa's clothing is usually rather sparse, consisting of a somewhat eclectic mix of furs and leathers from animals that she's hunted. Sometimes she'll also carry items that she considers to be war or dueling trophies. Whenever she get's the chance, she'll apply blood red warpaint all over her body before battle.

PERSONALITY:
Kalypsa is exceptionally passionate, putting every fiber of her being into just about anything that she undertakes. That's not to be confused with compassion, though, since she's also as ferocious and merciless as they come. Doing battle is her life; she takes no prisoners and kills her enemies without hesitation or regrets. That is, as long as they can defend themselves. She's completely uninterested in murdering defenselss children, civilians, politicians or any other non-combatant.

Unlike most, she isn't motivated by credits, power or political gains. Everything that she does, every battle that she engages in, Kalypsa is purely in it for the glory. While others dream of immeasurable wealth or dominion over an expansive empire, her personal goal is perhaps even more ambitious. Her desire is to become a legend. A deity of war that future civilizations would pray to for strength and courage until the end of time. A lofty proposition indeed, but she has the unbreakable determination to achieve it.

Behind the outer shell that's very difficult to pierce through and the fiercely independent character, Kalypsa still remains a human being who is fully capable of developing deep and genuine connections with others, it just takes a considerable amount of effort to get to that point with her.

LIKES AND DISLIKES:
Kalypsa is a warrior, through and through. She's at her happiest when clashing swords with her foes or after having defeated them. Watching and participating in duels would probably be what she considers to be her favorite pastime. Kalypsa's passionate nature extends to her love life as well, so life's more carnal pleasures are also quite important to her.

Above all else, she despises losing and takes it very hard, beating herself up to the point where it can become unhealthy and detrimental. As far as other people are concerned, her most hated trait is cowardice by a large margin. She'll hunt down a deserter or traitor with even greater vigor than she would an enemy. Kalypsa absolutely loathes space travel as well, requiring medication to calm her nerves whenever she finds herself aboard a ship. If she doesn't take anything, she'll quickly become dizzy, sick and highly irritable.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Kalypsa's iron will and fanatical commitment to any fight are what make her exceptionally dangerous. Her technique is far from perfect, but she makes up for it through sheer determination, endurance and instinct. She's also good at reading opponents, picking up on subtle patterns or weaknesses that may go unnoticed by even most skilled fighters. Kalypsa's intensity tends to inspire confidence within her allies and can even strike fear into her enemies.

She's fairly clever in the general sense, but certainly no genius or expert military tactician. Academically speaking, she hasn't really had any schooling other than learning to read, write and do basic math, so obviously lacks knowledge in many fields. Kalypsa's insatiable thirst for glory and overwhelming desire to have her honor remain untarnished can both be used against her by a sufficiently cunning opponent.

FORCE POWERS:
-Force speed
-Force body

LIGHTSABER/SWORD FORMS:
Jar'Kai

GEAR:
-Her clothing
-A pair of matching longswords
-A composite bow and a quiver of arrows

BIOGRAPHY:
Kalypsa was born and raised on Atrisia where she belonged to the Kamiizumi clan. The Kamiizumi clan was quite infamous, being known for the remarkable martial prowess of its warriors. Although the planet was unified under the Kitel Phard Dynasty's banner, skirmishes -and to a lesser extent, even all out wars - between the various clans were commonplace. Those were the unstable and violent circumstances that Kalypsa had known for her entire life, and she wouldn't have had things any other way.

Not only did she receive training in the traditional Atrisian art of Jar'Kai, but she was also entrusted to the care of one of the clan's shamans to learn how to harness her Force sensitivity. The shamans were nowhere near the levels of the Jedi, but they were very closely attuned to the metaphysical nonetheless, and thus capable of helping Kalypsa understand her power to at least some small extent. They eventually became like her adoptive family in many ways, since her parents fell in battle when she was fourteen. It was upsetting, but the fact that they'd died honorably was of some consolation, as were the many fond memories that she had of them.

As she grew older, Kalypsa began to pull noticeably further ahead of her peers, dominating just about every sparring session or tournament that was held. The majority of the tribe praised and encouraged her, although many of the younger members began to resent her. They were bitter about the fact that she had an unfair advantage over them, arguing that she didn't really deserve any of the accolades she'd been receiving and pelting her with all sorts of insults and accusations. The wise thing to do would have been to ignore them, but Kalypsa let them get to her more than she should have, as much as she would hate to admit it later on.

By the age of twenty, she'd already participated in an impressive amount of real battle against rival clans, racking up an impressive kill tally for her age. As her reputation grew, however, so did the jealousy and animosity of her detractors. One night, Kalypsa had been celebrating her latest victory in the dueling ring with some drinks when she ended up in a confrontation with her most devoted group of critics. In her inebriated state, she'd overreacted to something that was said and lost all control, killing two of the disrespectful bastards and almost finishing off a third one before a pack of guards managed to restrain her.

Even in her less than ideal condition, Kalypsa realized what was going to happen. The elders would convene and she would be found guilty of treason, it was a simple as that. Her only choice was whether she wanted to do the honorable thing and accept her sentence - death -, or take the coward's way out and flee with her tail between her legs. When she'd thought about it in her head before, Kalypsa had always imagined that she would be ready to meet her end head on fearlessly. However, now that she was actually put in the position of having to face it down, things weren't nearly as black and white.

Even if she accepted her punishment, she would still die as a disgrace, only to be forgotten as quickly as possible; or worse still, remembered for ever as a failure. Alternatively, she could swallow her pride and do the one thing which she despised most: run. One of those options offered possible redemption, the other did not, so in her mind she had no choice.

Kalypsa was aware that no matter what she accomplished from that point on, she would never again be a Kamiizumi or manage to atone for her sins in their eyes. What mattered from that point on was redeeming herself in her own eyes so that she could be at peace with herself. Leaving all bonds and ties behind, she cut her way through several more of her former kin on her way to freedom, finding refuge in one of the larger empire cities before escaping Atrisia entirely.

In Kalypsa's heart, the fire burned brighter than ever. She prove to herself that she was destined for greatness. The galaxy would tremble before her might.

She can't start off with a lightsaber form unless she trains in it/belongs to a Faction with Faction Leader approval.

From what I understand after reading stuff on Wookieepedia, Jar'Kai is just a sword form for dual wielding, not a lightsaber form. It was invented by the Yovshin Swordsmen from Atrisia so it made sense that she would know it. O.o

Wookieepedia said:
Jar'Kai was originally a style of swordplay that utilized dual blades, developed by the Yovshin Swordsmen. A similar dual-blade technique referred to as Niman was developed by the Royale Macheteros of the Kashi Mer monarchy. Niman was adopted by the Dark Sider group known as the Legions of Lettow during the First Great Schism, as well as the Jedi Order itself. Niman was developed into the sixth form of Lightsaber combat, retaining its name, while Jar'Kai became something of a blanket term for dual-blade combat.

I've also read a couple of other profiles where the same issue was brought up and the replies mentioned that it was okay.

If you still think that I should remove it, it's no big deal. I only included it as a fancy term for dual wielding because it was consistent with the character's back story.

Can't we start with a Lightsaber form, but it must be untrained?

Ah, if you're applying it to swords from a dual-wielding standpoint, then it should be okay. Just saw that she had some Force powers and figured you meant the lightsaber adaption.

And Zen, I'd personally prefer if people added the forms on after it was learned.

Actually, most indie chars can start off with Padawan-level Force Powers and Saber abilities. With administrator permission, they can sometimes start at a higher level, but that's a relatively rare occurrence.
