DESCRIPTION
The Katarn-class Patrol Corvette is built to be just barley under the limits of its size class, at 190 meters in length. It is quite lithe of a design, with four large ion engines in the rear to give it a top speed of 80 MGLT and decent maneuverability due to small thrusters embedded into the hull to help position the large craft. The titanium hull and reinforced transperisteel are designed primarily to deal with any potential meteorites and debris, along with capturing enemy craft and scrambling enemy signals.While it is armed with weaponry like turbolasers and medium laser cannon turrets, the primary intent of the craft is to disable and capture any intruding craft in a system. This is shown by the amount of ion cannons, tractor beams, and docking rings. The secondary purpose is merely theorized, as this craft has not seen large scale combat yet. In simulations it has been used as a recon craft due to its communications jammer, as applying them en mass can disrupt an enemy fleet's organization. They also have been suggested as escort ships for larger ships, as their armament can deal with smaller fighters as the larger ships can deal with similarly sized vessels.
LEGALITY
Restricted. Katarn-class patrol corvettes are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. They are also exclusive to the FWA Defensive Fleet.INTENT

Katarn-class corvettes are capital ships with powerful weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. Nor by other factions as, unless stolen, the FWA is the sole producer of them.
