Approaching the boy in a mild fashion, she would perform a relatively slow slash across his chest, going from his left to his right. This was simply to get him ready, and to judge just how good, or bad, he was at this skill.

She would perform a few more of these broad, sweeping slashes with no particular speed or power behind them. As it were, her lightsaber was at its weakest setting, and she didn't have to worry about retaliation; or shouldn't. Though she didn't explicitly state it, she wasn't expected the boy to use the force against her. This test was for him to use the force to aid in his own movements and increase his agility and speed.

After several of these, she would pause for a moment to internalize his abilities and decide on a course of action then.

Having been told to go on, Aer'kyl had left going down the path. He hoped he caught up with the others, but doubted it. Using his memory of the map, he went the way he needed to. If he drew a blank, he just pulled the map out, and looked.

Only a minute, X'jan told himself, only a mintue. The first slash was slow, it was easy enough to take a quick step back to avoid it. A few more of those swings met similar responses, but some with a little more movement than others. Perhaps he should distract the master by talking, and asking questions? It probably would make much of a difference. But he did wonder how strict the rules on 'dodging' were. Could he just run, or use the force? Probably not...

There was a subtle pause, after about 10 seconds of slashes, where she decided to change tactics.

Now she would perform a number of stabs. These would be faster than before, but only get faster with each successive thrust towards him. They would be at seemingly random parts of his body; one towards his head, then his chest, then his right thigh, then his stomach, then head again.

This would go on for about 15 seconds before she would change it up yet again; she would do a mix. There were would be short shiim strikes that flowed into stabs, that flowed into slashes, that would flow into one of the other 2. Every time they would get faster and more precise. She would keep this up for the remaining 35 seconds. She would stay on him, using whatever ability he would use in order to stay on target and within reach. It also helped that she would be able to predict much of what he would do due to her precognitive abilities.

Qyv was up and walking towards his next destination. He didn't expect to see the others anytime soon. Qyv sensed that Master Starfall had split them up. Why he was not sure but he couldn't worry about that. When will I get to my next... Qyv stopped. He wasn't sure weather to go with "obsticle" or "trial" well witchever it was he was hoping it would be soon.

((Sorry for the delay. Exams, NaNoWriMo. I've been busy.))
There was a subtle pause, barely noticeable, then came a stab at X'jan's head, which was narrowly avoided with a quick flick of his head to the side. Then one at his chest, which he avoided with a quick step back and leaning as far as he could go. But before he could get his balance back, a stab came at his right thigh, striking him a bit too close to certain things for comfort.

X'jan stumbled backwards, already panting. "Sorry Master," he said, "I failed."

She almost winced as she hit him. No matter who it was, she wanted them to succeed and hated to see them fail.

Her face stayed immobile as she simple brought her saber back in a non-aggressive position. She simply said, "Again," as she brought her saber back to a staring position.

She would do what she did before, this time starting with stabs, moving to slashes and then finishing with combinations. This time, however, she would start off faster and end up faster than she would have, as she already had a taste of what it was his test was.

She would require him to continue until he failed too many times. 3? 4? She wasn't sure, but she wasn't going to let him go just because he failed. He would succeed. She would give him tips and techniques he could use if he didn't get it this time.

Sighing, X'jan figured that this would keep going until he succeeded. That meant he could either try his hardest, and not do anything stupid, or he would eventually tire from repeated efforts. The sooner he finished, the more energy he would have for whatever the next challenge would be.

The first attack this time was a stab, followed by several other stabs, faster than before. But this time X'jan was at least moderately prepared, and managed to duck, sidestep, and spin out of harm's way, determined he would not fail again.

The attacks switched to slashes, something X'jan was prepared for this time. He would lean t be in parallel with incoming slashes, as well as jumping backwards every so often. This worked better than it had last time, but X'jan was still only narrowly avoiding majority of the attacks.

The master came to her finishing combinations in the last ten or so seconds of the test, and likewise X'jan had to combine his dodging styles for each type of attack into the final seconds.
57
X'jan leaned an jumped off to his right, avoiding a slash and a stab in quick succession.
58
He jumped backwards, hunching over in a crouch to avoid a long slash.
59
In the excitement of it all, the hope of succeeding, X'jan stopped counting for the last second as time slowed down. One slash missed his right shoulder, the next didn't hit his head. Then came one final stab, straight at his face. He flicked his head to the side, but the saber skimmed his head, leaving a nasty scar of burnt skin. Had that been a full minute? X'jan was sure it was, but it would have to be by the master's count, not his.

She pulled back her silvery green saber, retracting it back into its hilt.

While this padawan had succeeded in theory, he had technically been touched on the exact last second. However, she was certainly not that harsh in her tests. The boy had learned the skill and was ready to pass.

She said nothing to him, but motioned for him to go southeast, again, away from the others.

Now, she was done with her task given to her by Master Matsu. She would stay here and meditate, however. More because it was an excellent place to do so, but also to wait for any more that may come her way.

[[apologies Maverick you sir did excellent remind me to give you a cookie]]

Matsu landed next to Ayva after the students had finished and spoke spoke bowing to the jedi knight. "Thank you, please tell me what you thought of them as it will be factored into their end results. Did they overcome or be overcome by their own issues?" Matsu remained there as in the forest Samantha walked around and tripped scrapping her knee and looked up slightly crying with tears in her large blue eyes and some twigs and leaves in her hair.

Ayva bowed in return to her superior and relayed her findings.

"Qyv succeeded well enough when I told him to face his worst memory and face it. He may still struggle with it in the future, but I feel the most difficult part is behind him.

Tyrus showed a decent proficiency in Soresu. He lasted 2 minutes against me without being hit. It was interesting because he tried to counter at first which didn't work out too well for him. He still has some learning to do, but overall he was satisfactory.

Aer'kyl showed excellence in the use of force jump which I taught him only recently. He was able to jump over this tree and gather a leaf from the top most branches.

Lamia was able to resist my goading and not jump into action. I insulted her person as well as her people. However, I must say her arrogance must be watched carefully. I fear her future with us will be short if she does not learn humility and peace.

X'jan was able to evade my blade for a full minute. Strictly dodging, as he was not allowed to draw his blade. He failed the first time, when I switched from slashes to stabs, but the second time he got the hang of it. Know that I adjusted accordingly, starting off faster the second time, since he knew what was coming. I feel he has much better control over his body now. In the last second I scorched his face, but it was too close to count and I let him go forward.

Overall they learned and bettered their weaknesses."

X'jan carried on into the maze in the direction indicated, wondering if any of the other Padawans had gone this way. He kept of walking, taking in the scenery, until he figured he should check where he was going. He pulled out his map.

He had started in the clearing at the top left, where they had been sent through the forest wall, then they had run somewhere, he wasn't quite sure where, where they encountered their first challenge. To be sent Southeast like he had, then he would have come from the North. That mean, on the map, he was now below the starting point. Probably.

There was a cliff to his left, a drop to a lower level. On the map, he could see no other way to get anywhere from this path he was on. So he kept walking until he encountered another challenge.

Lamia went through the dark path, her lightsabers illuminating the way. She kept going as she waited for the next obstacle to impede her.

Aer'kyl thought he heard something.... Was that something crying? He stopped and tried to listen and make out what it was, but he couldn't tell for sure. It sounded like a person, but there was no way to tell in woods like these.

I can kill enough time to find out for sure... It would be bad if someone actually was out here, what with the testing going on.

He began to head in the direction of the noise, unsure of what he would find.

Tyrus paused a moment. He thought he could hear someone.. crying? It sounded like a young girl. He looked about, and began moving towards the sound, searching for her with his Force Sight.

Samantha looked up when her ears twitched and heard them approaching, she was curious and stood up going towards the people as she stopped coming out of a small bush and looking up at them with her large blue eyes. She pointed at them and then at herself then back at them. She wasn't going to speak she would be their test and didn't grinned just stayed there with twigs in her hairand scraps on her knees.

Tyrus looked at the girl's disheveled appearance and and instantly felt sympathy for her. He cocked his head, trying to discern the meaning of the girl's pointing, then approached her - Cautiously. Trusting, he was not, regardless of circumstances.

"What's your name?" He spoke softly.

Coming up beside the younger padawan with the goggles, he looked down at the girl.

"What's your name?"

Unsure of what he should do, Aer'kyl just stood there, assessing in his mind what could be wrong. It looked like her knee got scraped up, and there were leaves and such in her pink hair.

What is she doing here... this is no place for a child her age...

Qyv jurked his head. Was that a cry? It sounded like a little girl. Qyv headed in the direction of the sound. Once he got there he found two other padawans and a young girl who looked like she had fallen down and scrape her knee, she also had leaves and twigs in her hair. "Is everything ok?"

Lamia heard some rustling in the bushes, and then a cry, along with some people's voices. She rushed out to see the Padawans and a little girl.

Are you alright, little girl?

Turning to the other Padawans with a quizzical look on her face of "What does she want?", she turned back.

Do you need a hug? Someone to help you up? What do you exactly need?
