"I think I'm going to puke!"
Today was the long awaited day. Corrine Eldar was going to be married into House Solus, to a man she'd known for two years now: @Arturo Solus . He'd been a good friend, a strong rock to which to hold her down, and a faithful partner. After the death of her first husband, and even before then honestly, Arturo had looked out for the red headed Mandalorian. The whole group of their mercenary team looked out for one another, but Corrine never thought twice about the way Arturo looked at her. And actually looked at her. Now everything had made sense.
When Corrine first heard news of Malagith's passing, she was distraught. She was absolutely destroyed inside. She'd lost her father, and now she was losing her husband. It was common in Mandalorian culture for husbands and wives to pass away in battle, but it didn't mean it didn't hurt any less. By coincidence, Arturo had been there at the time and was there to lend a caring shoulder to the Mandalorian daughter who felt lost and empty inside. The world felt like it was overtaking her, like she was drowning and couldn't remember how to swim. That's what it felt like when her father took his own live, and now she remembered the same pain she'd tried so hard to forget.
At first, nothing came of her new found connection to the Mandalorian son. He was a kind friend who helped her get back on her feet. He was an open ear when she needed to cry and sob to someone about her loss. And mostly, he was a warm embrace waiting to hold her whenever she needed someone to help her from falling. She'd thank him, giving him small kisses her and there to express her gratitude, but it wasn't until she took a ride with him to Kessel and she thought he died in battle that her feelings about him really blossomed.
Corrine was beside herself once more thinking about how she couldn't lose another male figure in her life. She cried angry tears and pounded on his chest while she confessed her desperation and hatred of Destiny that kept taking her loved ones away from her. And then she kissed him. Really kissed him. And to her surprise, he kissed her back. And said the most heart-warming thing she could ever hear. He told her that he'd always be there to watch her back.
And the little brat that she was asked him the question to sum everything up. She asked him to marry her, so that they could protect each other always. They should have gotten married right then and there. But Corrine wanted to wait until she returned to Nar Shaddaa and caught back up with Dio and the gang. That was a mistake. Now she was being forced to wait even longer as phone calls were made and excitement brewed until the entirety of Clan Solus -and then some- were planning on attending. What was supposed to be a simple profession of vows was now turning into a grand spectacle and an even larger after-party. That's what she suspected people were really here for.
Even still, she felt sick. She was waiting in the back room getting ready with her mother, two elder sisters, and a few other female Mandalorian's she'd only met on occasion (@Sreeya ). The bridal party was busier than Alderaan bees trying to make Corrine the most beautiful bride ever. Her red hair was done up in braids that formed a crown on her head. Her eyes were dusted in reds and golds giving her eyelashes elegant wings. They'd even gone so far as to decorate her helmet with a crown of red, gold, and white flowers all tied together with black ribbon.
Her armor though, thankfully didn't get much in the way of changes. There'd been talk of someone painting the entirety of her plates white. Corrine nearly went as white as a sheet thinking about it. At most, the party of beauticians only added a sash like a skirt which fell behind her butt and in front of her torso, and then a long cape that reminded Corrine of wings. It was white fabric, symbolizing a new life, and shimmered with blue tones in the right lighting. They'd even gone so far as to wash it all down and give it a good cleaning so she was sure to sparkle when she would proceed into the adjacent room.
And Corrine hated it! She hated being frilly. She'd spent her life making sure people called her "Cory" and not Corrine because she wanted to be treated and respected like "one of the guys." It wasn't a secret that Corrine grew up a tomb-boy, and even now she was dying inside trying to fight the urge to tear off the makeup, throw on a hat, and join her brothers at the bar for a stiff drink. Sheesh this was annoying!
"I mean it! I'm going to puke!" she'd say to the girl now applying yet another layer of foundation to her cheeks.
No one paid her any mind. She was going to get married today and say her vows to her new lover and then be welcomed into the Clan Solus with open arms, loud music, and lots and lots of drinks. She just had to finish getting ready and then'd she'd go to meet the boys in the main hall before the lot of them would head outside to where the party would be. The ceremony would be quick, and she expected everyone to be itching to head outside into the cool Mandalor air where they could party until the sun came up the next morning. Corrine felt like everyone just had a party, what with the Hutta Revolution. But this was no longer her choice. It was her wedding, and she had no say in the matter. How annoying.
