Here's what's going to essentially be the prologue. (Keep in mind some of this will should be considered non-canon, as it makes things so immensely easier to RP, also some things will not be mentioned, as those things are supposed to be common knowledge. After you are done reading this, please whip up a quick character using a basic template! I need to keep track of things if we want this to work!)
It's 75 years after the defeat of the Reapers and the destruction of all synthetic life in the galaxy. Thanks to the efforts of Commander Sheperd, the galaxy has enjoyed the past 7.5 decades in relative peace. Humans and Turians have worked together to create a massive joint military that patrols across all most of the galaxy. The quarians have worked hard to rebuild their lives on their homeworld, and re-adapt to participating in the galactic picture, they have a citadel embassy, and thanks to gene therapy, have finally moved away from being forced to wear full suits, and now are usually seen wearing partial suits however they still need to wear rebreathers as they are still susceptible to airborne illnesses.*Krogan have established themselves as a true galactic civilization, colonizing worlds and even working to rebuild Tachunka thanks to the late Dr. Mordin Solus' genophage cure, and the efforts of Urdnot Wrex to prove the Krogan are ready to be trusted again. Cerberus has rebuilt itself under the leadership of the Illusive Man's heir, who has himself takin the title. However the new Illusive Man has re-established Cerberus as a group for Human's rights instead of as a humanity first organization. They occasionally work with the Systems Alliance, running Ops for Human colonies, and even allied colonies. The new Illusive Man has even taken to hiring outside of humanity, although this only happens rarely. The Asari have begun to rebuild, however this time they are focusing on increasing their fleet size. The salarians, having not supported Sheperd and the decision to cure the Genophage, were brought to near extinction, currently their numbers have been brought back up to 26 million and counting.
The Batarians, are slowly disappearing from the galaxy and will possibly soon become extinct. The Volus have survived thanks to efforts of the Turians after the war. The quarians, ten years ago, petitioned the council in the recreation of the Geth because of the impression the platform known as Legion had made on the quarian people after it's sacrifice in transferring it's A.I. Protocols to all Geth platforms before their imminent destruction by the Crucible, while most of the quarian people were uncomfortable with the decision just like most of galactic civilization, the petition was approved tentatively with the humans, salarians, and Turians voting yes, and the Asari voting no. The Quarians labored, and gave the reborn Geth a record of their known history and galactic events, several ships of their own, took them into deep space, and left them to evolve on their own. They have yet to renew contact with organic civilization.
Technology has relatively remained the same, save for advances in Kinetic shield technology, ablative armor, biotics, and Mass Effect weaponry. The Human-Turian coalition has produced several advanced warships. For the last five years the L9-VA and L9-AP biotic implants have cemented themselves as the foremost in biotic amps. Weapons models have remained virtually unchanged, save for their increased modularity, and better heat sink systems to extend the life span of thermal clips. Combat armor has also remained virtually unchanged since 2190, the only notable change is that armor suits made after 2195 feature upgradable systems, and increased modularity to individual pieces.
Two decades after the end of the Reaper threat, the council enacted the Galactic Observation Act, stations were built, surveillance systems were sent to Mass Relays, and the edges of the galaxy, while scientists and engineers were pointed towards the citadel, committing to a tireless study of the advanced technology while others kept an eye out for trouble.
Recently, within the past few months, strange occurrences have been reported. Mass Relay failures, random electro-magnetic pulses disabling ships, and most disturbing of all, disappearances in systems close to the edge of the galaxy. The council, and other races have each investigated but have found nothing concrete enough to induce anything more than mild worry.
