Mission summary:
A Calculated Gambit - (Ask) Self DM - Not started
Participants: @Mysha Kelborn + @Kotii Solus + @Genova Veren
Burkhart Kelborn is a name that would cause some to spit if their heads weren’t covered. But to some, he was a legend. Regardless of the opinions of the infamous Morling criminal, he left his own mark on Contruum before he passed. A Shereshoy class space station separate from the Ship Yards is a tourist attraction and vacation spot. Aside from those visiting the jungle surface on safari, this is where a great deal of the credits flow into the system. Visit the space station and get to know the Black Market element. Smuggling has been ignored for a long time and we don’t want to get rid of it. Instead, we want to capitalize on it if possible. Make some connections and maybe even some friends over some drinks and some cards or whatever.

Shereshoy Space Station - Orbiting Contruum

This mission was, admittedly, not within Genova's usual scope of assignments but when the alor of their Veren family requested her involvement, who was she to refuse? Perhaps this was an attempt at more 'networking'. After all, their clan was considered to be quite small, especially when compared to some of the other Mando contenders. Whatever the reason, the Lorridian would do her duty and see to the mission's success.

She wasn't alone, however. From what she had heard, two others would be joining. One of them was known by the name of @Mysha Kelborn. Genova couldn't recall really meeting her before now, but she most definitely recognised the name of @Kotii Solus. Both of them, however, were senior to her in age - hopefully, they wouldn't hold that against her and send her out on errands like some grunt.

Taking a pointed position in one of the station's more prominent waterholes, the armourer waited and watched for her would-be companions. Her one cybernetic eye, hidden under her visor, was already scanning the entire establishment for any known smugglers. Sure, they could aim for small fry but if they wanted to really capitalise, they'd need some of the more heavy hitters. People like that don't react well to violence; too jumpy. They'd just cut their losses and run, gone in two clicks of a parsec never to be seen again.

No, if you wanted to win over a smuggler, you had to let your money do the talking.

Kotii approached the Shershoy Space Station in his bounty hunting ship, the Bevrag'ad which when translated from Mando'a meant Spear Fisher. At the controls, the Hunter wore his helmet already and would begin landing procedures for arriving at one of the private hangars with some decent security.

This was the first time Kotii had traveled to the Contruum system and this space station. But the Mandalorian had a background when it came to the underworld of the galaxy. The echani-offshoot had an inkling of what to expect when dealing with the descendants of bootleggers, smugglers and other criminals. Those were the Mandalorians that had survived this long operating out of this station.

Locking his ship down with directives to the smart ship A.I. the Mandalorian would head towards the most likely cantina equadistant to the public, private and commercial docking stations. Smugglers would use every means of escape and try to capitalize on the various routes to get their merchandise moved without people knowing. The very same tactics for hiding could be used for an estranged Kelborn covert.

Thinking of the clan, Kotii could not help but wonder about Mysha. The Armorer had been there on Mandalore and the two had met on Tatooine afterwards. This was going to be potentially awkward not only for the two of them, but also for a third member joining them. Kotii knew how loyal and capable the Veren clan was so he was keen to see how Genova would perform in the field.

Outsiders did not normally know Mandalorian armor or have the ability to identify individuals underneath. Thanks to his new set, there were some that would not recognize Black Hand. He would be wearing an unzipped black reptillian-skin jacket that covered his armored chest plates and the gauntlets on either arm except for a small strip of painted metal around his hands and the center of his torso.

The Mandalorian's helmet was visible to see and would draw some eyes along with the weapons he kept on his person that moved with him as he walked. Clearly he was a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter and people knew to not walk in front of him or even take steps to avoid him.

Kotii entered the Bucking Bantha establishment and it did not take long for him to spot his comrade. The badger made his way over to Genova as he looked around the rest of the place. "Were you waiting long?" He asked the Veren and waited for the bartender to come around. Mysha had yet to arrive it seemed so they could talk a little in the mean time.

Kelborn.

You looked around long enough, and you could see the signs of her clan everywhere. In signs, on tattoos on exposed skin, even their colors, their patterns that still echoed of an ancestor of hers so far removed, that its' echoes persisting as Burkhart Kelborn was incredible. For a jarring moment, the Mandalorian merely stared at her surroundings, face tilted to the sky.

It would not be hard to rebuild, here.

The thoughts were wistful, but it didn't take long for her to find Kotii. She would know him anywhere, under any beskar'gam or aruetii dress. And though she wasn't overly familiar with Genova, she knew the woman was a fierce adversary; she recalled how she fought in the last social she was in.

Eyes followed her as she boldly strode in, both to assess her height... and the crest of Clan Kelborn embedded on her left pouldron. She wouldn't hide away from who she was; it would be a message loud and clear to any who understood clan sigils, that this would be a declaration sent to any Mandalorian that knew their history.

I am here to earn what will be mine.

After all, the boldest of smugglers, daring and itching for a bet, would no doubt be compelled to come forward at such a display.

She nodded to them both, taking another seat to assess the eyes that watched, the faces that looked, before leaning back to look over the drinks menu. She wasn't in a hurry, after all, a good opportunity always presented itself to those who knew when to strike. As a fellow armorer, Genova also seemed to know this.

Genova, ever sparse with her words, gave a subtle shake of the head. Idle chit-chat wasn't exactly one of her strong suits, though being a Lorridian, there was more than one way to communicate. With a flick of a few fingers, she denoted the time spent waiting; a measly 5 minutes, hardly anything to complain about.

Her two companions, @Kotii Solus and @Mysha Kelborn, certainly knew how to draw a crowd. Mandalorians, travelling in a pack? It was bound to turn a few heads - and in the mirrored background of the bar, Genova was taking note of every single one of them. Some of the patrons were clearly interested in their presence, whilst others (understandably) seemed perturbed, probably due to an outstanding bounty or two. The small fry would have to wait though, as they had bigger fish to catch.

“bid, meg cuyir te dajun?” For the moment, the armourer was content with playing things by the ear of her seniors. After all, they might have something specific in mind. “Ni liser kemir te yamika,? You know, scope out the place...”

typing with a hangover, soz.

The trio of Mandalorians were assembled in the cantina and had drawn no small amount of attention. Even though Contruum space had a history with Mandalorians, there were few walking around in armor. The Mandalorian Mercenaries that had been crusaders were operating in the system but had chosen to keep a professional distance from the locals. Whether this was by mandate of the local authorities, or the ex-crusaders just had no interest, it did not seem to matter in the end.

Genova spoke in Mando'a when she gave voice to her questions. Black Hand looked around the room, turning his helmet only slightly but letting his eyes to the rest of the scanning. <"Have you ever dealt with smugglers before?"> he asked the Veren to gauge her personal experience. <"If you know where to find them they're not very good at their job. We'll wait for them to come to us."> He advised from his own experience.

He would continue in Mando'a even though there was a chance that a fraction of the locals could understand the language. It was not guaranteed others would not be able to comprehend their speech so they needed to be careful what they said. The local authorities would not be much help and nor did Kotii want to get involved with them. They needed to be criminals for this mission to meet with criminals.

With all this in mind, the Solus switched to Huttese so the nearest patrons had a chance of hearing his words. <"The question is...what's going to get them to come out? Credits, beskar, a score to settle?"> The man followed the speculation with a shrug before settling his visor on Mysha. These were potentially relatives of hers', meaning she might have the best insight on their habits. Kotii was still brain storming what options were ludicrous, crazy and just a bit wacky. The badger's ideas ranged from trying to pick a fight with a Kelborn, to name drop or to just snooping around. This was a tourist spot so it was only appropriate this was going to be a gambling scenario even if it was devoid of chance-cubes or cards.
