Multi-Role Assault Transport

Affiliation: Fair-Usage

Availability: Military, but yeah like anyone can use this nifty shit.

Manufacturer: Rothana Heavy Engineering

Model: MRAT/i (Multi-Role Armoured Transport)

Intent: I found there to be a great lack of decent military dropships for this era, both on the site and in both Canon and Legends. So, I decided I'd make a shuttle that was dedicated military hardware for any faction that can feasibly acquire it. Plus I wanted to make an awesome dropship cuz I found this sick-ass art for one and it fits perfectly and yeah we just need this trust me.

Dimensions:
- Length: 20 meters
> SpecForce: 23 meters
- Height: 4 meters (not including upper winglets)
- Wingspan: 17 meters
Class: Dropship/Shuttle/Transport

Crew:
- 1 Pilot
- 1 Co-Pilot

Capacity:
- Base Model: 20 Passengers
- SpecForce: 10 Passengers

Armament:
- Base Model:
> 2 Medium Laser Cannons (Nose)
> 2 Medium Laser Cannons (Wingtips)
> 2 Light Repeaters (Fuselage)
- SpecForce:
> 2 Medium Laser Cannons (Nose)

Equipment:
- Life Support Systems
- Ejector Seats
- Targeting Countermeasures (Chaff, Flares, Electronic Countermeasures)
- Deflector Shielding
- Navigational Computer
- Communications Systems (Short-range BattleNet Communications, Hyperwave Buoy Communicator)
- Military-Grade Sensors
- Emergency Medical Kit
- SEERS Kit (Emergency Signal Flares, Locator Distress Beacon, Survival Gear)
- Emergency Repair Kit
- Inertial Dampeners
- 1 Week of Consumables
- Targeting Computer
- Spotlights
- Mint Air Freshners
Speed: 80 MGLT

Hyperdrive Rating:

- Base Model: None
- SpecForce Model: Class 3
Maneuverability:
In space, it has a decent maneuvering ability, and it flies like a brick during atmospheric entry (but what doesn't?). In atmosphere, the ship is fast enough to execute evasive maneuvers when under fire, as well as get into air-to-air engagements with other hostile gunships.
Description:
The Multi-Role Assault Transport (MRAT/i) is Rothana’s newest design in terms of battlefield boot delivery.

Able to put boots on the ground at a moment’s notice, the ship comes with an impressive level of armament and shielding for its size. The shielding and armour allow this shuttle to sustain high volumes of small arms fire, but dedicated man-portable weapons have chance of taking it down within a couple direct hits. Hostile aircraft must know where to hit to bring it down quickly, normally the usual places like engines and major repulsordrives.

Able to carry 20 troopers of humanoid size, while it may not be the biggest transport, it has enough speed to outrun almost all others, as well as enough guns to blow them clean out of the sky. The ship also comes in a SpecForce model, which features hull plating coated in Reflec and a class 3 hyperdrive for long range missions.

The ship has a high level of modularity, with numerous configurations of the base model. One version removes the troop bay and replaces it with mag-clamps for carrying vehicles into combat. A gunship variant features two blaster cannons or heavy repeaters on door turrets and has concussion missile/proton torpedo tubes mounted under the wings. Other weapons and configurations can be devised by anyone mechanic that works on the MRAT, so the modularity is only limited by a commander’s imagination.

The blast doors of the MRAT/i were designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. Able to maintain an atmospheric seal and insulate the heat from atmospheric entry, the doors will collapse towards the back of the shuttle in a telescopic fashion once sensors confirm that the external environment is within a barometric and temperature ‘safe-zone’.

In summary, the MRAT/i is a well-rounded, effective, and economically efficient combat shuttle, capable of rapid troop deployment with force to support. Most any legitimate military group in the galaxy will try to have a few of these in their inventory somewhere.

Knock down the speed, knock down the maneuverability, and take out the chaff.

I really hate things with Chaff.

It's also very heavily armed for it's speed as well. Consider that this is supposed to be a dropship. It's main task is to deliver troops. Not be a gunship. A good dropship has three things going for it: Speed, armour, and cargo/passenger space. Everything else is luxury.

Intent: To make an awesome dropship cuz I found this sick-ass art for one and it fits perfectly and yeah we just need this trust me.

And oh yeah. That there? Enough to get your ship NOT approved.

Then have fun with something useless and out of place.
How is it more out of place than flares? How is it useless? It creates false radar signatures for sensors.

Also, I cut down the weaponry some.

That reminds me. You should remove flares as well.

Edited intent to be more valid and professional.

@Clayton, any preliminary notes for editing?

just because you hate it does not mean it must go.

They probably should go but that is because they wont work. It is not clear what Star Wars sensors are but they not IR or Radar. A Sensor decoy may work if Clayton allows the ship to have it but I would then say it should loose some fire power medium laser cannons are rather powerful maybe drop it to light.

Medium laser cannons are the same as are on an x-wing starfighter, as well as the new Aeon A-Wings I think.

You not a starfighter you are a drop ship. 4 ligh laser cannons is still enough to turn a AFV like your tank to scrap in short order. Maybe go 2 medium in the nose, 2 light on the wing tips.

I do not think this needs anything more than a simple anti-infantry blaster (maybe turreted) at best. Otherwise it isn't a drop-ship, it is a gunship.

That is actually correct. Drop ships are like the star wars transport helcopter. In most cases they only have MGs but there are exceptions. You want this cheap to and a blaster is cheaper than a cannon. But i think Bret wanted a gunship but called it a drop ship.

There is nothing wrong with the ability to fill both roles as needed. Many RL ships can and do. However I will agree with some of the others, lose the anti sensor stuff (learn to fly better), cut down the armor, keep the guns and lose the hyperdrive completely. You then have the Star War-esk version of a Blackhawk.

There isn't much armour, and learning to fly better only works when the ship has the manoeuvrability for that level of evasive flying.

How many shots can this thing take?

Also, no minty fresh air freshener. Auto disqualification in my eyes. Fix this immediately or you'll be put before a firing squad.

Added the airfreshners, and we've seen how durable Larties are in the Clone Wars, so it can be assumed to be similar to that.

Don't they go down in one direct hit in the clone wars. Unless it has plot armour
