Get Skullcandy's. I love them and the regular earbuds, which is all you will need lol, are only 20 dollars. And 9/10 you can find them on sale for like 10.

This. Skullcandy's are great, and affordable. I prefer the wrap-arounds though. The ear-buds are uncomfortable in my opinion.

My last ones were skullcandy rasta's (green/yellow/red) and they broke recently after like 3 months. I spent $30 on them..... I'm reluctant to get them again.

Really? I have those same ones and I've had mine for like ever. Maybe you just got unlucky.

I bought a set of cheap JVC around-ear headphones for 18 bucks. They work surprisingly well for their price, and they've held up amazingly well for all the abuse I've put them through. That said, go for a nice set of Skullcandy's and treat them like your grandma; that way they last.

Well I might stop buy Best Buy and check it out. Thank you! :)

From what I've seen with my own the twenty dollar earbuds hold up better than the thirty dollar ones. I don't know why, but that's the way it's been with mine.

I can't stand earbuds. Size-wise, they're amazingly convenient, but they make my ears hurt after fifteen or so minutes. >_<

I have $80 Bose earbuds so I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I'm obsessive about sound quality, so I had to have 'em. >.>

mine are too.

I can't deal if it sounds like crap. I've had them for three years though and they work great.

You could try to get a set of cheap skullcandy ones from a dollar store :P some have them.

Did you put on the smaller rubber things they give you? That helped me and they still sound just as good.

My ears are just a bit sensitive to having anything put around or in them. I can't even wear a wireless headset for Xbox live for more than thirty or forty minutes without my ear starting to ache. It's lame. That said, no, I haven't tried the rubber thingies; I'll give it a go the next time I get a chance.

I use cheap $10 JVC earbuds. Had them for 3 months with no sign of deterioration. They really blasted music compared to my previous headset.

I have a set of SkullCandy double agents that I'm loving...they can be used wirelessly as they come with a 1gig SD card ( but can carry up to a 4gig card) and have a built in player..naturally they have a cord you can plug into it to be your classic headphones, and another cord for charging it and loading music into the sD card.

Skullcandy is discontinuing them ( I assume for something more developed ) so you can find them online for 30 bucks or less now from retailers liquidating them.

Am I the only person who uses the earbuds that came with my iPhone? They have a mic on it, so I can talk without having my iPhone to my ear and look like an elitist douchebag.

Sorry about the change of username, this is SerCue aka Uscere here. I was banned before I could post this reply for you. Anyway, here it is, hope it helps:

Huh... I feel like this post is going to be full of useful information instead of snarky, pointless comments. Curious.

Anyway, my recommendation varies based on how much money you're looking to spend and what type of headphones you're looking for. I absolutely adore over-the-ear headphones for serious listening, though I do carry around a pair of in-ear earbuds for portability reasons. So, my recommendations are as follows:

Cheaper Earbuds ($20 to $40 USD)
Altec Lansing BackBeat Titanium UHP326

- Considered one of the best set of earbuds for under $50. Great sound quality. Overall awesome set of headhpones. I can neither confirm nor deny the fact that these were chosen by a certain ratings website to be the "Best Buy" out of all the headphones tested. They may or may not have been rated 6th out of all non-noise-cancelling headphones (beating out many more expensive headphones). In other words, if you're looking for something around $30, I strongly recommend these. No skullcandy 'phones score anywhere close, but... it's your choice. Everyone has different tastes and expectations from their headphones.

Expensive Earbuds ( > $100 )
At this level, you should really know what you prefer - try out a few different pairs. But you can't go wrong with Klipsch. Also, a relatively newer earbud: Monster Beats by Dr.Dre "Diddybeats", are rated very high, even on par with some of the more expensive Klipsch models. But again, they're expensive.
