Hlodovic had been aboard the Brighthome for nearly a year now, he had grown adjusted to life aboard it’s sterile interior. While the Brighthome was a temple and shelter for many Jedi, it was entirely alien from planetary life, something that Hlodovic and other Jedi were constantly reminded of before dispatching to the surface of a planet for a mission, task, or simply to get away for a time. Hlodovic had underestimated how uncomfortable he would be back in a more natural environment after such a long stint of space life. Things such as the tinny taste of manufactured atmosphere, the weak magnetism of artificial gravity, and the constant dull thrum of the ship’s reactor had become his normal. As such, the sounds of wildlife echoing out from Yavin’s vast jungles, the taste and scent of pollen floating in the air, and the heavy pull of the world’s gravity was entirely alien to Hlodovic. And while this might have been more tolerable to most races, when all these things engaged with his keen predatory senses, it was almost overwhelming.
After taking just a handful of steps from the steps from the loading ramps of the transport craft and onto the exterior docking bay of the heavily fortified Temple. All his physical senses had immediately been engaged with his surroundings in an unexpected manner which had been amplified by his connection to the Light picking up countless lives both sentient and otherwise in his vicinity. Hlodovic could feel the any colonies which dwelled in the cracks of the duracrete, the incubating lives of the planet’s avian eggs which were nested several hundred feet away, and the countless other miniscule connections that the Brighthome lacked. Hlodovic squeezed his eyes shut to try and retract his senses before becoming entirely swept up in the sensations around him, he stumbled slightly as his clawed hand reach up and roughly rubbed his temple to try and alleviate a building sense of pressure. He regulated his breathing and sought out his center, the calm warmth that was the Light to help him in adjusting to the new environment. After a moment, Hlodovic felt a cool sensation wash over him the overwhelming cacophony of noise, scent, and taste regulated itself into something he could more easily tolerate. When Hlodovic reopened his eyes, a female Twilek guardian had taken a handful of steps towards him, a curious expression clearly written on her face.
“Is everything alright?” She asked cautiously, her lekku twitching slightly as she approached him.
Hlodovic blinked rapidly a few times, allowing for his vision to fully adjust to more natural sunlight as opposed to the fluorescent bulbs he was accustomed to onboard the Brighthome. He smiled awkwardly at the woman before extending a claw towards her.
“Thank you, but I am quite fine.” He replied. “Just unused to…everything is all.” He explained, gesturing to their surroundings.
This elicited another odd look from the woman as she looked him up and down quizzically before slowly nodding in mock understanding and returning to her post.
After this Hlodovic made his way towards the temple entrance, past defensive emplacements that stood in stark contrast to the natural world they had been built on, the sterile design brought some grim comfort to Hlodovic as he continued indoors. Hlodovic found several Gammorean guards standing post within the temple, watching over the Jedi as they made their way inside in ever widening streams. It was an odd sight to see Gammoreans outside of Hutt controlled space, and while Hlodovic gave one of the beings a short quizzical glance, he didn’t pass any harsh judgements but instead hoped they would guard this place better than he had on Lothal. The thought caused the feelings of guilt to bubble up within him once more, something that he pushed down after a moment. That pain reminded him of his dual purpose, atonement and it was what brought him to Yavin IV in the first place.
While he had indeed come to volunteer for to take part in a crusade to not only push back but rid the Galaxy of the infectious darkness that had taken hold of it and purge the vectors of infection that utilized its malevolent powers to leave only death, destruction, and utter chaos in their wake. This crusade and the perceived ideals behind it were something that Hlodovic firmly believed in and knew he had been called by the Light to take part in as a part of his personal atonement. However, he didn’t believe that this was the entirety of what he must do to find forgiveness in the Light and as such, he had come here, seeking the guidance and insight of one of the Jedi Order’s Masters to bring insight into what he was feeling if he could put it into words.
Hlodovic made his way towards where the meditation rooms were and where he was to meet with one of the Order’s Jedi Masters and discuss everything surrounding the events on Lothal, his actions, and determine what needed to be done moving forward to find absolution. Once inside, Hlodovic took a seat in one of the two meditation chairs that had been set across from one another, closed his eyes, and reached inward to find the calmness in his core. While his inner being was typically more tranquil than it was now, the anticipation and anxiety that had been building within him had made the proverbial waters of this sea slightly more tumultuously and choppy than normal. He would work to calm himself and slowly spread his senses out to beyond the room in order to avoid being caught off guard by whomever was coming to interview him arrived. His goal was to find serenity in himself and the clarity to discern his feelings before they arrived, if he still had the time.
