Wow... answers within MINUTES of posting the question. You guys are gooood.

Okay, might take me a little while to type up my first character. Typing up profiles is the hard part, though rping them is the fun and easy part.

Hey there!

Well, yes and no. There are three main factions to pick from: the Republic, the Jedi Order, and the Sith. You can only pick one, and stick with said faction. However, that doesn't mean you must stick to that faction and that faction alone with the rest of your characters. Any character is more than welcome to become an independent, or "Indie," which doesn't apply to really any main faction.

For example, if you join the Jedi Order. You can have two Jedi Knights, and then you can have an anti-Jedi bounty hunter or smuggler.

Hope that helps.
Actually, I'm gonna have to step in here and make a minor correction to the statement above me.
Per the recent rule change the one faction rule doesn't apply for sides of the war. If you are a part of the Jedi, then you can also make a Republic character and vice versa. It is only if you join the Sith that you are bound to one faction, that being the Sith of course.

You weren't supposed to tell him that. Now he'll realize the Order and the Republic carry perks in which the Sith don't necessarily bear.

MONALISA3.gif~c200

Ignore the gif above, I'm totally feeling sad and regretful because of your admonishment. I'll NEVER do it again, I swear it on my characters life.

Oh nearly forgot, @Aygaros welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay.

Both main factions have the same 3 parts afaik. Jedi, Senate and Grand Army of the Republic versus Sith, Moff Council and Sacred Band of Ziost. I don't see either side have an advantage there. Seeing how there could be a charakter that is a darksider, SBZ member and a Moff all at the same time I don't quite understand where the Republic is unfairly favoured. Maybe someone can clear that up before we tell new members something like this. :)

*bursts out laughing till rolling on floor.*

Warn me before you post a picture like that! I nearly had a heart attack from laughing too hard!

Jokes aside, thank you all for your help and your input. However what is going to depict which faction my first character joins is going to be the interactions he has in game, so just picking a faction is gonna be kinda pointless. He's a neutral character trying to figure out where he fits after all...
