I'm taking 4 A levels at the moment, and as such have to attend pretty much full time schooling (8am-4pm minimum every weekday. I'm usually not home until 6 because of other commitments too though). I manage to balance my free time, and at weekends between a mountain of homework (typically 14 hours worth a week), a social life, this place and whatever else I do (like playing for a football team, or playing a video game, or writing or whatever else). Sometimes I'm working till gone 11 or even midnight on an essay, but I know I've got to do it...it's about taking responsibility. I live with my family, so I don't have to worry about those kinds of costs so much, but a social life, and most other aspects of my life take money, and I work in the holidays sometimes, or some weekends. Time management isn't that hard, and if you really wanted to do it it's not just a case of you "could", but you just would.

Well said.

One thing you have to remember, Mulluns, is that virtually everyone is going through tough economic times, yet most of them who are young still manage to go to school and have a job. Although it's noble, at 19 if you're making money your first priority should be to get a good education so you can get a real job that will actually support your family. Quzzinos is not going to do your family a whole lot of good, at least in the long term, but your education will.

Would you pay $60 for a second hand XBox game when you could buy a brand new one for $50?
:CAbove:

I wouldn't but I'm sure there are some people out there who would. Mulluns just needs to become adept enough to find those people.

Or, if he has become skilled at shooting, maybe he could move to Somalia and become rich by being a pirate. That business is booming and the boom is helping out the coastal regions of Somalia.

They don't have a very good life insurance policy over there.

I'm finding it easier to understand why you thought your Alsakan 3 way attack would work.

You don't think people like that exist somewhere?

Perhaps a toddler or someone with a mental illness. Anyone with half a braincell could work out that $60 for a 2nd hand XBox game is a bad deal, when it's about $50 brand new. Over here preowned games are like a fiver (seven bux).

Maybe not mental illness, but someone who is too obsessed for their own good.

There's your first problem.

Those hundreds of dollars shouldn't have been "invested" on video games.
Kinda too late to just suddenly go back on that now.

If he could find a way of reselling them, maybe they could be a good investment. Just as long as he finds people who are willing to pay him more than what he paid.

Though I don't see why you would invest hundreds of dollars, maybe a hundred but hundreds?
I'm not selling all those games and my few systems. Sure, I'd prolly make some good money, but I'd also be throwing my hobby and my future dreams away. Read more below for more details.

I'm aware of this, and I don't plan on working at a fast food joint forever(Unless I got a posistion like Matt, but maybe.), and of course it will only be temporarly when I go to college.

While we are on the sunject of games and college, want to know what I want to be? A Video Game creator/designer. Yes, that is what I want to be when I go to college, to learn how to design and create games. However, that won't happen unless I can pay to attend, and since my dad will unlikely pay and my grandmother dosen't make enough either, I will most likely have to pay my own way, unfortanetly.

You don't have to go right to designing school. Start at community college and get your core shit done first. If you do well enough, you can even land scholarships to a university.

Well, have you investigated the appropriate courses at colleges you might want to go to? That's the first step: find where you want to go, and if it's possible, and the cost, then work out if you need work before or if you can get by working part time there.

Your dreams of becoming a video game designer doesn't justify sitting on your ass all day and playing video games.

The keyword here is DESIGNER.

You either have to be a talented artist, or a programmer.

Yeah, plus its a very competitive industry, and there's not a lot of jobs available.

So they'd be delighted if they could have one person take up both.:CHappy:

I don't know what you heard; but you have no time to play video games if your majoring in digital animation, it is my major. And I sit here at my comp 8 or more hours a day working on projects (And of course browsing thestarwarsrp.com *Cheap advertising FTW.) it is ALOT of work, ALOT ALOT ALOT of work. Just letting you know now.

maybe you should have thought of all of this shit when you were still in highschool. you should have tried harder to get better grades so you could've gotten scholorships and went to college right out of highschool instead of wasting your time trying to get a job at game stop.

but since you can't change the past, you could always get student loans you know. most of them allow you to re-pay them after you graduate so you could go to college and save your money while you work and attend school so you can pay them off when you're done.

Not that good of a time to get student loans, they are also heavily affected by the recession.

sitting around and waiting for the economy to rebound won't do him any good. lets face it, he's not going to be able to save all of the money it takes to go to college by himself in a timely manner unless he saves every last penny.
