New Neutral Area!

As with anything new, the precise specifics about how this works is going to be determined by how people naturally make it work once they begin RPing there. Some things we’re working out more concretely, like what Lark brought up about character deaths and such, but not everything is going to have a specific answer. That’s impractical to assume.

Please just RP there or don’t, or enjoy it or don’t. Not every concern about hypotheticals can be addressed right off the bat. :)

Anyways, I haven't looked over the place much, but the idea is something I like, and like Adena, it, the idea itself, reminds me of the promenade on TOR, and Mannan. Thus, until I actually stop being lazy and look at it, I approve.

Just a suggestion, you might want to add [ASK] or [OPEN] tickers. Right now it's not clear if Nirvaid's thread is open or not, and I am about to post a thread that I've talked about with Gaja that, at least for the first few posts, should be [ASK] not [OPEN]. Unless that's not the spirit of the board, and all threads should be open.

I had an idea for a nuetral area, I think people may like it, I will try to post it on sat, I actually posted about it in the OOC thread but never got a single response. I even have it worked out how it is enforced, how all faction members can visit, ability to venders to setup if someone wants to setup venders to RP, a temp living place, blah blah blah. Posted a week or two ago not realizing this was in the works.

Death is not the entire point of the Dueling Ring. Dueling is. If you want to have a death match in the Dueling Ring, that's up to you and whoever you're dueling.

Makes me wonder how long it will take for people to use Daedalus area against others. If I were looking to make sure that certain transactions IC wise went undisturbed, I'd go to this place first. Obvs' reasoning being that no one can essentially harm the characters involved within said transaction that is taking place. So, if anyone wanted to stop them, I suppose you can flail your arms around and shout at them to stop.

Or am I missing something?

That is still a good concern. Since the area is still in its infancy (much like the Legacy quests), there are bound to be issues with the system. Discussions like this are productive for ironing out those kinks -- at least as long as we don't expect solutions right away. It will take time for the issues to be addressed, but discussing the issues and proposing solutions as a member base will expedite the process and insure that our interests are being represented completely.

However. I'm unsure whether or not this thread is the correct place for such a discussion.

As easily as you can transfer the data, the enemy can spy on you. You're unable to force the enemy to stop looking or eavesdropping on the conversation. Also, just 'cuz the station is peaceful doesn't mean bounty hunters and the Empire can't be waiting in the space outside it for a certain ship carrying a certain cargo to leave. And, while death is not possible, espionage, including following and monitoring targets, listening to private conversations, etc. all are permitted. I could think of a number of ways to get involved in a 'secret transaction' occurring on the station.

Like I said earlier, you don't need to kill people to get stuff done. Information gathering and spying doesn't necessitate killing to messenger.
