Set phasers to maximum. Prepare for...unnecessary callbacks to....Other series.

Interesting. I'm hoping it will be more focused on characters and political themes like Next Generation than the movies or the later TV series were.

Actually, I've found that Deep Space Nine had the greatest character focus and development of any of the three series

Huh. I guess I haven't really watched it in a long time.

Neat. I'm a bit eager to see what comes of it, and I haven't been eager for a series in an awfully long time.

That's because DS9 had multi-season story arcs. Roddenberry was adamantly against long story-arcs and using war as a major plot-point in Star Trek. You can see that influence in TNG. DS9 began after Roddenberry's death, though, thus you have the multi-season Dominion War and a far more cohesive series than any previous Trek.

It ain't rumor this time, folks.

THR just reported that a new Star Trek TV series is in the works, and a formal announcement about it will be coming later today. THR would not report that information unless they were 100% certain of it.

It's finally happening!

EDIT: Official announcement: http://www.startrek.com/article/new-star-trek-series-premieres-january-2017

I likewise liked DS9 the best.

First with Twin Peaks and now with this, the future looks interesting if nothing else. ;p

Ds9 was my least liked; TNG is my favorite, voyager comes in despite it's continuity errors that I've been nitpicking at.
