Back home, everything went on at night. Hunts, gatherings, and chores all happened under the soft light of her planet's moon. Her mothers taught her how to weave under the stars, guiding her nimble fingers in and out of the silk threads to depict the speckled sky above them. But here, with the Sith, Llolith had to abandon her nocturnal clock in favor of the daytime.
Her classes started shortly after the sun rose and didn't end until after it reached its peak. She ate in the shade of academy trees, trained in the courtyards with half-closed eyes under
sunglasses, and scribbled out her homework in dimly lit classrooms.
She didn't really mind it though. It had been the hardest thing to adapt to after arriving here years ago. Her body had eventually adjusted, and waking up instead of winding down with the sun was easier now than before.
The acolyte would be lying if she said she didn't still prefer the night. Sometimes, before settling down, she liked to wander out to the courtyards, stare up into the sky, and study the stars. To Llolith and her nine eyes, the sky was an ebony, milky void with splatters of dim white and burning red stars. During the day, it was just a wash of saturated blue, but the sun made it difficult for her to stare up into it anyways. Unfortunately, a lot of her training was done outside in the glare of the sun.
"Alright class, we're bringing in a more advanced class to spare today. No sabers, so sheathe your weapons."
"An advanced class?" Llolith adjusted her sunglasses to better cover her primary eyes, then glanced over at the entrance to the courtyard where the more advanced students were now arriving from. There were five of them in total, and they were all older than Llolith and her peers. "Cool."
As instructed, she sheathed her weapons. Her sabers snapped off, and Llolith clipped them to the left side of her utility belt before looking back up at the newcomers. The acolyte absentmindedly adjusted the sleeves of her shirt to protect her skin from the harsh rays of the sun then made sure her hair was still securely tied into a bun at the nape of her neck.
"Line up. We're partnering you up."
Llolith fell into a line with her four other classmates and waited as one by one they were paired up with someone from the more advanced class. She wondered, "Who am I going to be paired with?" Her eyes jumped from person to person as names were called, then finally landed on a pretty brunette as her instructor called out the last pairing.
"Lastly, Trent and Uttu."
