No Honor Among Thieves
Hutt Cartel
A blast of tarry air was thrust into Omdool’s face as the best ameteur swoop racers this side of the Outer Rim raced around the best ameteur swoop track this side of the Outer Rim. Omdool had drawn the short straw, with the other members of his little posse (a human and a droid, so not the most trustworthy of parties) were at a high end swoop sale and only the most prestigious track this side of the Outer Rim, respectively. Not that Omdool was one to sulk, but the droid was hardly suited towards the high flying upper class life of such guests as Gaja Desilijic Vuul himself and if the scarce meetings Omdool had held with the human were anything to go on, he wasn’t much of a personality and, honestly, his manners were more suited to the ameteur race track than the super rich swoop owners.
But there was a job to do and by personal experience, assignments from the very top of the Cartel itself were very hard to ignore. The first step would be to figure out who actually took the swooper and find where they are. That’s of course easier said than done, but there were a few clues. The politics of the Cartel is arguably one of the most pathetic in the galaxy, with the various sides of the government scratching at the throats of each other, each one trying to get the slightest glimmer of an edge on the other (not that Omdool would ever hear anyone saying that). The chances were that it was just another Lorda who had stolen Desilijic’s bike.
Almost as equally as likely is that a common thief stole it, but that bandit would have had to break into one of the most highly secured garages on Nal Hutta to steal one of the most expensive swoop bikes on Nal Hutta. Most bandits don’t have the resources to do that. And so, of course, this pit of pond scum was the perfect place to find the right hand man of a high class Hutt politician. Omdool rolled his eyes and turned to peruse the crowd spectating, gambling and drinking cheap alcohol at the track.
