tl;dr version: HELLZ TO THE YEAH, I'm tired of screaming hyperactive brats in my movie theater!

To be honest, I'd love it if theaters and restaurants sponsored 'Family Days' during the Week and Sundays, but had Thursday through Saturday as 'No Screaming Brats from Hell Allowed' time for the rest of us. I've lost counts of the number of irresponsible parents at the local theater who bring in their 1 year old babies in to a showing of an obviously adult, obviously frightening movie, only to have the baby start wailing halfway in for five minutes straight. Same goes for chatty and hyperactive 5 year olds.

I love kids, don't get me wrong. I used to babysit a fair bit, but I think that parents are starting to be a little lack in the discipline department. They'd rather let their kid wail than settle things outside, and that means that they inconvenience everyone else as well. It's about time the public gave these folks some backlash, and it's about time businesses started setting down some ground rules.

=/ It's rather irritating when kids just honestly don't stop shouting/screeching inside a Library, just sprinting around and knocking stuff over. (And it's not even the cute 'Daughter can't see Dad over a shelf of books and cries then he comforts her')

I'm not sure, are these business locations allowed to enforce such a plan?

When I went to see the Second, there were 3 or 4 5-year olds in the row RIGHT behind mine, yapping away constantly. One of them had seen the movie before and was telling everyone else what was going to happen, imitating character lines, and just generally being a micro-douche. I was not a happy camper.

It describes mine aswell. What are the odds?

Not just the screaming/crying though, but they were rambling some and the parent just said "Shush" or whatever and it did little to nothing. It makes me furious though when they bring little kids to movies obviously not meant for them and they don't tend to them just because they want to see what naked teenager Jason Voorhees is going to gut next. Heck, even movies based for kids this happens! I had a bad experiance with a kid around ten or so believe it or not when I went to see Up who would not stop spewing lines from the movie. I honestly think there should be an age limit considering some kids are just too young/stupid to appreciate a movie even one made for their age when they just see bright colors and likable characters when they have no idea whats going on.

Restaurants are also just as bad, especially when you're with that special friend or with a group of others, and then a kid will just start screaming/crying for whatever reason and nothing happens.

Now, things like hotels and airports? Maybe going too far. Sometimes traveling people with babies/little kids have no choice but to stop by some/use them, and only to find out they can't because of the child they have would be irritating. They need to split it between banning annoying kids between entertainment and necessities.

The ladies do like Trandformers.

<-- Optimus Prime fangirl

But, it's not really the offsprings fault for parents who can't just take their kid outside for a short moment.
If you're going somewhere that the common curtesy is being quiet so others can enjoy a movie, or a very fancy restaurant; there us this thing called babysitters. I swear people are so silly stupid.c:

I'm fine with kids with they're not being annoying, loud little shits. If I'm having dinner at a restaurant and there is some goddamn ****ing baby screaming and crying? I actually had to go up to a flustered couple once and show them how to properly hold their baby. Probably thought I was a baby snatcher or something. Fell asleep in my arms, gave them back baby, it was all good. (Are people stupid when it comes to holding babies? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like being precariously balanced on someone's knee.) Babies. lrn 2 hold them. lrn 2 get bbysitter.

And yup, can't count the number of times I've seen VERY adult movies and there are very young children and infants.

Agree with everything you've said here, Fuzzbutt. Children are great when they're well behaved. When they're not it's like being in hell.

I'm perfectly down with things like resteraunts and movie theaters doing this, I'd have to agree with Phil though that airlines and hotels are a bit much though. Personally, I got the shit slapped out of me when I acted that way as a child, and guess what? I didn't ****ing act that way as a child for terribly long....I figured out much quieter sneakier ways of pissing people off >.>

Eh cant say iv ever minded. That said I have 3 siblings (girl, teenage boy, teenage girl) on my moms side all younger, 3 step brothers (all older than me) , 2 siblings (both boys, younger than me) on my dads side and a step sister (teenage girl, younger than me) on my dads side.

Used to go between them when I was younger. The whole every other weekend stuff, but anyways, maybe thats why im so used to kids. I never notice, but that said I have developed an amazing selective hearing and blocking out techniques.

Im one of the few people in the world that has been the youngest, middle, and oldest child. Strange how that stuff happens.

I mean I went to go see Megamind on the second day it was out and there were kids everywhere, but I didnt notice anything. god that movie is awesome. One of the few Will Ferrell movies I like.

I think this is being blown way out of proportion. If you dont like kids.. get over it. Buy some ear plugs, or do the adult thing and yell at the other bastards kids. :CStern

Good,

I'll open a business that allows kids and families and make all the money these places could be making.

Really at the end of the day, if we just take the children who're obnoxious and send them all to ethiopia we'll have solved the problem of children in america being obnoxious AND the hunger problem in ethiopia...after a few slight ah...modifications to the child...

As far as I can tell, the airlines are only restricting children in first class. If it were the entire plane then that just wouldn't fly ( :CHappy ), as obviously most parents wouldn't want to go on long vacations without their kids (unless it's a special spouses-only getaway thing).

I've had very little (though still some) interest in raising a kid, and I think it's helpful to see all those screaming brats, because then I'll know what not to do when I do adopt one. If my kid acts like a brat, I'm taking him outside. I can't begin to count how many times my dinner dates have been interrupted by people bringing in their newborns (newborns! As if their immune systems are magically able to cope with a restaurant!). Stay at home or hire a babysitter. If you can't afford a babysitter, what are you doing in a restaurant when you can (often) get the same food for cheaper at the grocery.
