Dorumaa was known as a quintessential vacation and resort planet. Everyone flocked here from all over the galaxy to take time off. And it was an ISC planet, so of course it enjoyed a boost in economy. Kai despised anything to do with the ocean, but he couldn’t resist gravitating towards the resorts that had wealthy tourists wandering around. Best of all, most of them weren’t from the planet, so there would be little follow up if they had minor things stolen.

It was a beautiful day in front of the Lux Resort, the beach filled with tourists from all over the galaxy. The crisp, turquoise waters were rolling in against the fine, white sands. It was a perfect picture of natural beauty. There were couples, families and singles all over the sands, people playing volleyball and other sports.

Meanwhile, Kai was irritated. Since their first raid went poorly, he had to resort to peddling Emryc Energy to anyone that would buy. They were badly in debt and Flexo convinced him getting a subscription and selling was a great idea. It sounded fine at the time, but Kai was beginning to suspect this was an awful decision.

He was trudging through the sand wearing a casual black tanktop, shorts and a hat while dragging a cooler behind him. Thankfully, it was a warm day on the beach, so he started to get people stopping by for an ice cold can of Emryc Energy.

The Fiani was getting hot and started to pant a little bit from the heat. Nevertheless, he had at least ten more subscriptions to sell before he was good. Naturally, he was also pickpocketing approximately half his customers as they started to rummage through the coolers.

Admittedly, the last move she had pulled was rather wicked. She had created a fake online dating profile on this new sugar daddy app called 'Sugar Galaxy' and even if she found it very degrading to apply on such a platform, it had bought her a nice little vacation in the fancy Lux resort on Dorumaa.

Her date was an older gentleman, a Chargrian, obviously stupidly expensive and very lonely, and she had started financially disembowled the naive, however slightly desperate man from day one. She fared well with not offering any actual return services, always finding new, creative excuses or distractions and so all she had actually given him was to pose as the trophy girlfriend while they had been traveling to the resort.

She was now lying in the sun in her new expensive bikini and life was good. She felt relaxed, the warm sun rays grazing her body and the only thing on her mind was whether or not she'd go for a swim sooner or later. She had already managed to acquire a new sparkly necklace she had 'borrowed' from an elderly lady at lunch and she intended to savor her trip some more before she'd simply dip, leaving her generous date blueballed.

She almost dozed off, the Chargrian next to her was already fast asleep but as she woke, she felt her throat had gotten a little dry. Sitting up a little, she snapped a finger, her sunglasses hiding her signature ocean eyes and her hairs were dyed blonde here anyway. The lady at lunch had told her about this nice delivery guy that offered Emryc Energy refreshments and she was feeling just that, so she waited for this guy to shop up at some point.

Kai successfully sold a few more subscriptions and was feeling pretty good about himself. He heard someone flag him over and decided this could be one more customer. Plus, they were in the wealthier sections of the lounges so he figured he could nab some earrings or bracelets. Kai walked over, spotted the woman in the bikini and started getting out his datapad.

“Good afternoon, m’am!” He said cheerfully, “It’s a hot day today, so why-” His eye narrowed. He leaned in for a closer look. Fate had to hate him. He wondered if she planted a tracker on him just to make his life miserable. Kai was at a loss for words. He shook his head and promptly started to wheel his cans over to the other customers. She would catch him start to give the same, energetic pitch to a new guest several seats down.

No way in hell was he going to mess with Ruby again. She was nothing but bad luck!

Maeve closed her eyes again, waiting for the pool boy or whatever to arrive, but as someone did finally adressed her, she jumped. She immediately sat up, taking off her sunglasses and speechless staring at Kodi for a moment. Was she suffering from a heat stroke? Was the damn fox following her into her nightmares now?

She didn't manage to bring out a single word, she was completely frozen, simply not being able to grasp that this was supposed to be real. What were the chances?! Kodi spun and hurried off and she literally rubbed her eyes. Out of instincts, her muscles had fully tensed up and as she suddenly perceived a voice right next to her, she jumped again.

"Are you okay, babe? Can you get us some drinks?". Why was he awake now, too?! How kept fate screwing her so hard. "Oh it's nothing. Of course, I'll get some, Honey", she sweetly replied, however was internally disgusted. This couldn't be happening. She'd recognize the voice from miles away, so there was no doubt it was actually him, but what the kriff was he doing here?!

He must have followed her, she assumed, and gotten a job near her too. Perhaps he was a freaking stalker. Whatever it was, this had to get settled once and for all. A wave of rage washed over her as she slipped into her plush pool slippers and shuffled over. She patiently waited for him to seal his deal before she'd throw him a deceivingly warm smile.

"I'd love some drinks, too...do you have a minute?", she asked politely, however without asking reaching for his elbow to lead him off, just a little, basically right behind the next palm tree. She was perplex beyond belief, but also mad and it hotly bubbled under the surface. "Are you freaking following me?", she hissed quietly, furiously meeting his gaze.

Kai wasn’t going to let Ruby take up any real estate in his head, so he continued to go about his way. By the time she walked up, he had just finished conning some middle aged woman that was gushing over his ears. She blindly signed up for a lifetime subscription of Emryc Energy. Kai wiped off some sweat when Ruby asked for a can. He grimaced instantly, but he didn’t protest as she yanked him behind a tree.

Deciding to use this as a break, Kai drew out a cigarra and placed it between his lips, actually scoffing at her question, “Don’t flatter yourself, darling,” He said icily as he blew out smoke, “I follow the credits just like you. I follow expensive materials, you follow expensive dick,” She would notice his gaze briefly flicked down to the fancy necklace she wore before returning to her eyes.

“We shouldn’t meet like this,” He said with a grin, tilting his head to look past her and towards the Chagrian, “What would your dad- I mean boyfriend think?” Kai asked, snickering to himself as he took another drag.

“Look, unless you plan on buying a subscription, I’m not interested in you getting me into new bullshit,”
He said flatly as he crossed his arms and stared at her.

Unbeknownst to both, the ocean began to recede away from the shores. Like right before a tsunami.

Maeve didn't smoke, but she usually didn't mind passive smoke, yet as he almost blew it in her face, she clenched her fists. "I follow opportunities. What, are you jealous?", she scoffed, raising a brow. Was he really thinking she was doing the work she had applied for in this case? She noticed his gaze, and thus literally clutched her perls as if to say, 'they're mine'.

"Right. My client probably freaks out over me taking to a lowly pool boy and-", her gaze briefly flicked down to his wares. "Thorne Simp? Really? I knew you were insufferable, but this...", she couldn't help but to chuckle. The reasons she was here weren't honorable, but while she just chilled in the sun and profited, he worked his fluffy ass off it seemed.

"Don't worry, you're fine. I still don't believe you. You probably tracked me", she was really certain of it and found it absolutely disturbing, "But-". But she was cut off by sudden, panicked screams. Her eyes immediately widened as she glanced to the beach where people began to flee.

"What...the". This was bad. He was bad. And bad luck. Everything had been fine until he showed up. "RUN!". She pushed past him, shoving him aside in the process. She had absolutely no qualms with checking on her date, just literally racing towards the nearest beach buggy. If he was perceptive and quick, he'd notice it was the only available vehicle around and while it surely wasn't super fast, it was faster than running like all the other idiots. The keys hung in the lock, so Maeve immediately hopped behind the wheel and intended to start racing away.

When she asked if he was jealous, Kai actually chuckled. His gaze flicked down and then up, “Nah, I don’t go dumpster diving anymore,” He said with a scoff, ignoring the quip about Thorne simping. In truth, he wasn’t too thrilled about being stuck with peddling the stupid subscriptions, but they had to pay for their ship upgrades somehow. This was going to get him by until he could run his actual job - which was supposed to be at a gala taking place tonight.

Kai barely registered what happened, but he looked past her and saw the massive wave coming. His eye grew wide and he was promptly shoved aside by Ruby. He tripped over himself, barely catching himself. He growled as he watched her scramble away towards a beach buggy. Kai grabbed one of the Emryc Energy cans and hurled it right at her (roll:10/20) as she ran. His intent was to knock her out and take the vehicle for himself. Instead, the can collided right with her ass, enough to slow her down and cause a hindrance, but not stop her.

The hit allowed him time to practically leap towards the vehicle, hopping in next to her right as she started revving up the engines, “I HAD TO GRANDPA PEDAL YOUR ASS, YOU’RE TAKING ME!” He yelled, “Gogogogo!” He said urgently.

Behind her, she would hear the anguished wail of the Chagrian that she was leaving behind calling out her name and his heartbreak.

Maeve dashed through the little tropical garden area that separated her from the vehicle, the only hope she could spot in the moment. Right as she was leaping over a thick tree root, something hard suddenly collided with her butt check, but certainly leaving a big, round bruise, and while she let out a quick "Oof!", she had no time to check, but she was a little slowed, rubbing the impact area.

She then sprinted onwards until she flung herself behind the wheel, immediately shifting gears to reverse in a half circle in order to start in the right direction. It was then that Kodi jumped in like a maniac, frantically explaining why she'd have to take him. As unprepared as she was, a loud screech escaped her before she hit the gas pedal, the unwelcome passenger inside.

"HAVE THE RABIES BEFALLEN YOU?!", she yelled back, perplex about his incredibly loud voice. Were they literally running or rather driving for their lives? Yes. But was she thrilled to be stuck with his crooked ass one again? Absolutely not, yet there was no way she could kick him out and get going at the same time, so she did continue driving.

They were soon picking up speed, reaching the buggy's max speed and passing all the runners on foot, yet given the sheer size of the monster wave she could see in the background, she doubted they'd make it out of the radius. "We can't escape it!!! Check whether you see anything that might keep us safe!". She couldn't believe she was potentially dying sitting next to him - by far one of the most unpleasant, absolutely crooked and insufferable people she had ever met. For once though, an actual panic gripped her as she tried maneuvering the vehicle as best as she could - every now and then they'd leave the ground for a few seconds though, covering the uneven terrain in a relatively bumpy ride.

Kai was panicking, there was no doubt about it. This was an actually terrifying situation. He looked over his shoulder and he could see the waves coming in and the ground beneath them began to shake. Kai pulled out his EZPhone to map out where they were, “Left! And then a right!” He said, trying to identify where he could see higher terrain marked on the map. His heart pounded against his chest and for once he set their squabbling aside.

“Look out!” He called out as a rift began to form in the ground ahead of them. He reached a hand over to help her hard steer to one side to avoid it. Kai pointed ahead, “That comms tower! Let’s get to the top of that!” He called out, looking over his shoulder. His sensitive ears could pick up screams and anguish cries of people falling behind and it was genuinely terrifying. The skies turned dark and it began to pour as the storm began to move into land.

As soon as they were near the tower, Kai rushed to the door, quickly picking the lock and opening it. He closed and bolted the door behind them, running up the spiral stairs to reach the top. This structure had already been evacuated, but a lot of the coast was caught without warning. Kai was trembling from being soaked, his fur matted and his ears drooping along with his tail.

He could see the storm raging outside and a glance down from the balcony would show intense flooding through the streets. Speeders got swept away and they could see lots of resort guests carried away by the current as they tried to grab anything to anchor them.

Kai looked away, running his fingers through his matted fur, “What the fuck..” He managed in a low, hoarse voice.

Kodi screeched directions and she - oddly enough - listened. While glancing over she noted the phone in his hands and thus trusted his navigational skills, not having an actual choice anyway. It left a bitter taste on her tongue that they weren't only confined to an absolutely bizarre and not really effective ride again, but it was better than nothing.

Maeve's gaze was focused on the trees ahead when Kai warned her about the cracking earth, a full wave of panic washed over her while she couldn't help but to scream. She got threateningly close to losing control over the wheel, but Kodi reacted like a lightning bolt, helping them avoid the almost inevitable catastrophe.

Beads of sweat formed on her forehead while they were suddenly driving right into a heavy rain fall. It took her a moment to realize that it was an actual tropical storm, and she kept wondering about how none of them had seen the dark clouds roll in before. Had she been so off her guard thanks to this terrible new job?

She didn't even notice that she drifted off mentally, but Kodi's voice yelled her back into reality. She took a sharp turn to avoid a falling tree that seemed disrooted already, barely missing the massive death trap again before they finally reached the tower. Maeve felt a little dazed, her brain still processing the horrors, but she kept running and followed him upstairs.

They bolted up the stairs while the heaven unleashed its whole wild fury onto the land as the massive wave began swallowing the land, but in the end they both made it, completely soaked and out of breath, but somewhat safe. It could only have been him. He was a wandering bad omen and maybe it was about time they did something about it. She glanced up to him, shivering from the wet skin, bikini and cool air and discarded the thought: no...he at least hadn't locked her out.

For a moment, she backed up against the wall, sliding onto the ground while she forced herself to take a few deep breaths. After a moment, she was a bit more composed, but her voice was still slightly trembled as she looked back up. "If the water flushed out the ground too much, this tower could lose its foundation". The implication was clear. They'd die and his would be the last face she'd ever see again. She didn't even want to imagine. They weren't just stuck here, but perhaps even still in danger and as she pulled her phone out, she noticed there was absolutely no reception.

Kai stepped away to shake out his fur, water briefly spraying around him. His ears and tail looked poofy and slightly matted and he was absolutely miserable. However, he didn’t look as miserable as Ruby in her ridiculous bikini. That pearl necklace wasn’t serving her well now. Kai wanted to laugh, but she actually looked awful. The Fiani exhaled, running his hand through his matted hair, “We don’t have other options,” He said as he gazed out at the chaos, “If we try to jump to other buildings now, we could get caught in the waves.”

He rolled his eyes as he watched her continuing to shiver, “Sugar daddy not much use now, eh?” He scoffed as he removed the towel from his head and tossed it at her to cover herself. Kai wasn’t exactly a gentleman, but he wasn’t in the mood to hear Ruby milk the ‘woe is me’ angle. He figured a towel would shut her up at least briefly.

The Fiani walked off and sat down in a corner, already knowing their comms were worthless for now. He was freezing from being soaked and curled his tail around himself. He drew out his pack of cigarras which was mercifully dry enough to function. Kai lit up a cig with trembling fingers and pondered his fate.

If he ever got out of this, he was going to strangle Flexo for their Emryc Energy drama.

As he shook like a dog, she literally dove to the side, giving him an incredulous look. Sometimes he was more animal than man and sometimes she forget about it- "are you going to stink like wet dog now?", she grumbled, not happy about the prospect as she actually found it quite realistic.

He was right and she new it, yet her mind continued racing. They were safe here for now, but she simply hated the idea of being stuck - even worse, it made her more nervous than she'd love to admit. "Asking just kn case, you can swim though, right?". He looked miserable, as if hating water and she literally didn't care whether he'd drown, but perhaps he could be of use later on, so she needed to know his chances of survival in a worst case scenario.

"He was my client", she corrected him hissingly once again, angrily meeting his gaze, however as he tossed the towel over, she was once again a little baffled. It smelt...awful and it was also relatively wet, but she reluctantly wrapped herself into it, knowing it offered a little warmth through the fabric. "Thanks...", she muttered grumpily as she sat back down across from him, at the far side of the room.

She was facing him still and thus noticed he was freezing too, so at least knowing she wasn't off alone being miserable felt like some twisted justice. He did at least have some fluff, but they were both far from being good and as she glanced back out, she noticed that their state wouldn't improve anything soon.

She knew he was no pleasant partner to talk to, yet to suppress her own nervousness and gain some kind of distraction, she let out a sigh before she adressed him again. "You know what I've realized? We're both scoundrel", he was undoubtedly the worst scumbag and much more crooked, "but despite our differences, I find it remarkable that we've somehow managed to collaborate on several occasions".

It was the first thing she could think of. His face alone made her furious, but they've been effective. They've tried to screw each other over hard on several occasions, too, but in the end, and she wasn't yet sure why, they hadn't made a bad team despite the complete lack of trust.

“Yeah probably,” Kai said with a smug grin when she asked if it was going to smell like wet dog, “May as well throw yourself over the balcony to spare yourself,” He made a polite ‘after you’ gesture with his hand to point her to the balcony in question. He did quirk a brow when she asked if he could swim and answered with a scoff, "Why, concerned about my wellbeing?"

Kai was puffing on his cigarra, thankful for the tiny levels of warmth offered. He was staring off at nothing when Ruby ruined his view by sitting across from him. Kai eyed her quietly until she spoke. He took a long drag, considering her words.

“What’s your point?” He asked bluntly. Kai made no move to debate the point that he was a scumbag - he knew what he was. To hear her admit the same was a surprise, “You have it pretty easy. Just suck some old, wrinkly man off and he’ll pay for your lavish lifestyle. Why do you keep hustling anyway?” Kai asked. Based on her Sith boyfriend and now this Chagrian, he doubted she had any skills other than sleeping her way to her objectives. It was a trick many women used in his social circles, and he was sometimes envious of how easy they had it. Meanwhile, he had to do some real hustling and almost get killed half the time.

"I'm considering it", she dryly replied, her tone serious. The towel was bad and the only reason she kept it was because it helped with the shivers for now. She had never considered that Mr. Crooked Fluff wasn't just super uncharming, but that his foxy traits came with many disadvantages, too.

"As if", she scoffed amusedly, in fact considering the idea of a fox floatie. Would his dead body offer some relief after the attempt to survive in those floods? Maybe. His tail looked like a buoy already. Her trail of thoughts got interrupted by his jackass reply which was as spiteful and hostile as ever. It became tiring over time...

"Fate seems to like torturing the two of us by getting us in such shitty situations together", she simply explained after he had failed to see the intent, but it mattered little. "Pff, that's not even fun. It's too easy. Always the same. Some men fall to easily, I like my challenges", she replied, obviously an answer as vague as he'd probably expect.

Sure, it had been more than easy to score her date and get him to pay for her while she scammed the old fool, but heists, real tricky assassinations and danger was what thrilled her. "Also, come on. As if the 'aww, I'm a little cute fox boy' ploy wouldn't work on desperate elderly ladies. Give yourself some credit, you're fluffy tail must be your best asset", she mocked, the thought actually making her chuckle.

"Why would you go for peddling and not just robbing. I mean yeah, it surely got you into the resort, but you really kept peddling". Maybe he wasn't good at finding good, well paid and easy jobs every now and then.

Kai could actually sympathize a bit, chuckling, “Some? They all fall easily, give yourself more credit. One night of fun and they’ll do stupid shit like paying for your meals and doing you ‘favors’ without realizing,” He grinned, “I can respect the hustle, Ruby. I’m jealous of the ease, but I can respect it.”

He scoffed at her turning the question around on him, suggesting his ears and tail got him far. In truth, she was right, and it was certainly better than having to whore himself out. Kai gave her a fanged grin, “My fingers are my best asset, darling,” He said right before he brought up his hand, rolling an expensive ring over his knuckles. He had snatched it when he reached over to put his hand over hers to grab the steering wheel. Miraculously, however, he tossed the ring right back at her.

It felt strange just sitting here chatting while there was a natural disaster happening outside. However, the initial waves had stopped and now it was storming and flooding. The tower, for the most part, held its ground. It swayed the slightest bit, but they didn’t go down. Within a few hours, they would be able to make it out and find land.

“Gotta balance out all the crooked fluff things I do,” He said, using her designated name for himself. In truth, he had no desire to divulge that Flexo had gotten them scammed with the stupidest pyramid scheme in history. Now they had an obscene amount of Emryc Energy cans on their ship and they needed to offload them as soon as possible. It was a wonder he wasn’t trying to make Ruby sign up for a subscription right here.

“So..” He paused for a moment, cocking his head slightly, “What did you inject me with that day?”

Ruby. Since when had he called her Ruby? She remembered well that she had introduced herself as Sapphire, but she saw where the confusion came from. She wasn't surprised by him not remembering names at all and thus didn't even act surprise, but his praise made her smirk. "You ain't wrong. But it's just a backup business". When she felt like it, she did it. She doubted he wasn't doing the same every now and then though.

As she watched him fiddle with the ring, her eyes narrowed ever so slightly, as obviously, it wasn't his. It wasn't hers either, but alas, she saw a pattern. "See, that's admirable, too. You've really got quick, skilled fingers", this, she had to admit as well. He knew what he did when it came to stealing and while he had screwed her repeatedly, she had always found some of this doings rather impressive...

"Are they any good when it doesn't come to stealing or pickpocketing though?". She threw him a sly smirk, catching the ring that he tossed back. She didn't know why, but after the jewel incident, she scanned the jewelry closely now. He then suddenly asked for the sedatives she had used on him, and she couldn't help but to let out a chuckle.

"Does a chef share his most precious recipes?", she countered, pushing herself of the ground to walk to one of the windows, her gaze drifting across the sheer devastating forces of nature outside. "It's a fine blend. If you're looking to boy some, I'm always looking to sell it". Of course really small portions only, and if she was being honest, she was certain selling it to him, specifically, wasn't a great idea.

"I only hand it out with instructions, because it's all about the right dose", she scrolled a little closer to him before she squatted down, meeting his gaze. "Tell me, did you experience any after- or side-effects?". Of course she was just messing. She knew there were none, but it was good if she kept in control of this situation. "And was this your first time getting drugged by a chick you've screwed?". This, she also doubted, but she was curious anyway.

Kai only scoffed at her first question. That was a hook question, and he wasn’t going to fall for it. He only gave her a knowing, fanged grin in response. He went back to smoking, the gesture calming his nerves from the chaos happening all around. From his sensitive hearing, he could tell the storm showed little sign of stopping just yet. Rain battered the tower and thunder roiled above. The skies were pitch black and he just hoped the tower wouldn’t get struck by lightning.

“Why do I feel like you injected me with sugar water or some bullshit..” He muttered almost too quiet for her to hear. Kai pulled his knees up to his chest and curled his tail around himself to keep warm. His chin rested atop his elbows, his single eye gazing out at nothing. Her question caused him to look up again.

“No, I only screw nice girls,” He answered dryly. Two could play at her game, and he was well versed in this. Nevertheless, Kai pondered over her ‘skills’ for a moment. Despite how laughable he saw the ‘skill’ itself, it had a lot of uses. There was one particular case that had been impossible for him to crack. He must have been completely drugged to even entertain the thought, but what if..?

“Hey,” He called out to her suddenly, “If we get out of this alive, I may have a job split with you,” Kai held up his hands, “No bullshit this time. No screwing,” He added with a smirk.

He didn't reply, and she took it as the answer she had expected. He knew his business, but the Foxboy didn't struck her as super experienced otherwise. The thought slightly amused her, but it wasn't distracting enough to keep her seated for long - instead, she pushed herself up again and started pacing, the confined space and the lack of perspective making her somewhat nervous again.

She studied the outside, and drafted a few scenarios in her head - no, she couldn't take any chances with the masses of water and no, getting out in general was a stupid idea. They'd have to wait for some kind of improvement or else they were stuck. She couldn't shake the feeling of the walls closing in, making the room tighter, slowly reducing the oxygen - but his remark stopped her from spiraling and actually drew a chuckle from her.

"Clever boy then", she acknowledged, giving him a wink. She didn't believe him a single second - she was most certain he had gotten himself into a lot of trouble on several occasions, but she let it rest for now. She forced herself to take in slow, steady breaths, but she stopped in her tracks as he suddenly approached her with a job.

"What", oh no, he was not to be trusted. She had learned that a long time ago. He couldn't be serious anyway, why would he hire her? "And you need my expertise to pull it off?", she asked with a scoff, walking up to him and crossing her arms in front of her chest, holding his gaze. "As intriguing as that sounds, how would I know it's no bullshit? And also, you might have to enlighten me a little. What would it be about?". Her tone implied that she was technically genuinely interested, but the problem was him.

Kai stared at her as she looked out the balcony and appeared to look more freaked out than when they were running from an actual tsunami. He said nothing about it, more excited about hatching a new plan. As much as he hated admitting it even to himself, his plans were almost always half baked. Quite literally because he was on spice most of the time. However, with a tsunami hindering his spice plans, he was struck with a sudden moment of clarity.

“In our line of business, nothing is guaranteed,” Kai stated flatly, “But I can assure you if bullshit happens, it won’t be from me,” His tone was genuine and she could take it or leave it.

“There is a female crimelord that has an artifact that’s extremely valuable. Her husband usually runs around on her with other women because she’s always busy. If you can get him into a compromising position and we get some pictures, I can use that to intimidate him into giving me the artifact,” It was a very cruel and twisted plan, but that shouldn’t have surprised Ruby, “You don’t need to actually do anything, it just needs to look suspicious. The wife is a very jealous and angry woman and would have her husband killed if she found out,” Kai said.

He had been trying to steal the damn thing for ages and never found a good way in, “You do your part and I’ll give you the bigger cut of the profit,” Kai wasn’t doing this for money per say. This particular thing was for clout and better standing with Crimson Dawn.

It was shortly after that when he noticed she was still freaking out about being in the tower. Kai crossed his arms over his chest, “What exactly is your problem?” He blurted out.

He was right. There were not many insurances and there was no safety. Still, he was the king of sketchiness and him offering a job voluntarily just seemed wrong. She quirked a brow and studied him, forcing herself to stay where she was for a second before she listened intently.

She couldn't help but roll her eyes as he stated details, intercepting with a sharp, "Oh are you a pimp now and recruiting me as a whore?". Of course it was mockery and her voice was sarcastic, but as he kept adding more details, her curiosity was actually piqued. "Hmm", for a moment she pondered on his words, before she blurted out, "actually yeah, why not". He was right. It was a job tailored to her, the risk sounded bearable and he offered more than she expected...

"But wait a second. Why does it sound like you want to take the photos? Also, why not just stealing? Do you really believe blackmailing is the way here?". If she was being honest, yes, it was a solid plan. Maybe the woman would never have to see the pics and pressing the dude was enough. She'd kill him afterwards for sure, but they'd be long gone..."What artifact are we talking about?". She also wanted to know, doubting he'd give her the genuine answer. "But okay...I'll reconsider the details, but I might be able to help there". Fooling guys was easy, so why not giving it a shot?

She started walking away again, to the window, and away from him, studying the door, and almost returning to him, when he irritated her. "My problem?! What's yours?", her voice came out too high-pitched, simply deviating from her normal tone. She bit her lip, hating that her nervousity somehow did sicker through. It had been ages since she had gotten so nervous from being stuck in such confined space and suddenly she realized that perhaps he didn't even know it was claustrophobia that bothered her right now.

"I'm just...thinking". She stopped herself from fidgeting, internally face-palming herself. She was normally such a skilled liar, why was she failing right now? "I just want this storm to end...", she added muttering, sinking down against the wall again. Still, she was hoping that conversation would distract her enough, so she asked, "have you ever gotten any more issues after the jewel incident?". They had had their pictures, but no one had followed her after and she simply avoided the sector. Her glance involuntarily fell onto his necklace and she couldn't suppress a chuckle.
