Ocih had actually never thought of being able to use the force to heal himself. It made sense though. Through the force, Ocih could feel and touch other living things, so why shouldnt he be able to manipulate the cells in his body to heal himself. Focusing on his own body, Ocih began to heal the bruises he had received and instantly he felt better. Looking at his master,

"I am ready for whatever you have next Master."

"I have taught you many things thus far Ocih, but it seems I have neglected to teach you something integral to your training. The philosophy of the Jedi Order." Alaan shook his head, feeling some embarrassment.

"I'm a warrior, not a philosopher... so I overlooked that part of your training. We will rectify that before beginning your lightsaber training." Alaan reached into his pocket and withdrew a datapad.

"Have you heard of the eight tenets before?"

Ocih nodded to his master. "Yes, when I first entered the Temple I waited in the lobby and overheard a conversation about them. I believe that I understand them all."

"That is good, please explain them to me in your own words. I want to hear your beliefs," Alaan said. "You may refer to the datapad if necessary, but must state the Tenets as you believe them to be."

Ocih looked at Master Korre "Ok."

"The first tenet. As Jedi, we are the defenders and guardians of the galaxy. It is our duty to side and serve the government as protectors of the peace. When we do not pretect the people and serve the force, but rather turn on them, chaos is caused. During times of crisis, we must do what we believe is right."

"The second tenet. Emotions are important, but to be fully attuned to the force we cannot allow our emotions to control us."

"The third tenet. Even a jedi may love someone else. Although not handled as easily as most others, a Jedi may marry another, but one must listen to the Council's advice on the matter."

"The fourth tenet. The force flows through all things and a Jedi must respect all life. Killing someone is an act reserved only as a last resort. Individual needs do not transcend the greater good of society."

"The fifth tenet. The weak must be protected by the Jedi as they have no others to look to for help. A Jedi may always help others when in a situation to give aid and help, as long as he follows the tenets and the code."

"The sixth tenet. A jedi must never openly oppose the Council or Grandmaster. Matters like that must be handled in a private fashion. A jedi is also obligated, however, to do what he believes to be right, whether that may conflict with the views of the Council or not."

"The seventh tenet. Although a Jedi may possess wealth and power, he must also be willing to give these things away at an instant if called upon to do so. As a Jedi ruler, one must rule kindly and always think of his people."

"The eight and final tenet. A Jedi may not just be mindful of the present. He must always look to the past and future for guidance and direction aswell. These are the eight tenets master."

Ocih said, bowing to Master Korre

"Very good Ocih," Alaan said. "In light of the eight tenets and your beliefs of them, what do you believe of the lightsaber? When should it be wielded?"

"Well, the lightsaber is the weapon of the jedi. Its purpose is to aid the Jedi in protecting the galaxy. It must be used only during dire times, when negotiation does not work."

"The lightsaber is a tool of the Jedi. It, like the Jedi that wields it, is a powerful force in matters. A Jedi must be careful to only activate his or her lightsaber when the situation cannot be resolved in any other manner. You understand this well, and I am proud to be your teacher."

Alaan unclipped one of his sabers from his belt and activated it. The blue beam of glowing light extended with a snap-hiss, casting a glow across the beam they were standing on.

"And now it is time to teach you the lightsaber form four, Ataru."

Ocih listened to his master. He had heard of the different lightsaber styles and now he would be learning the fourth style, Ataru. Taking the training saber he had taken before, Ocih ignited it and waited for more instructions.

"Ataru, the fourth form of lightsaber combat, is based in agility and movement. It is a flexible form, and has served well in many situations. Form four masters are extremely effective, they can often overwhelm their opponents with a flurry of constant rapid and shifting movements. Offensively, the form lacks a true 'fatal blow'. However, in many cases this can be overcome by knowledge of other forms. As a learner I studied Shii-Cho, a basic form. Ataru's weakness is its lack of defense. A practitioner of this form will need to rely on consistent movements and attacks in order to compensate. I will teach you what I can, through practice."

Alaan gestured with his empty hand.
"Come at me, let's see what you have learned so far."
Alaan knew that Ocih would need to use what he had learned of his agility exercise, as well as Force Jump and Speed in order to properly learn Form Four. Ocih would learn by doing.

Ocih smiled at his master. Ataru in itself sounded like a perfect form for Ocih. Brute stength was all well and good but the gamorrean always lost out to someone who was quicker than him. With Ataru, Ocih could perfect his own attack by surprising his opponent and coming at all angles. Ocih disagreed with his master though; Korre believing Ataru to have no suitable defense for the fighter. With the idea on constant, fast paced movements, Ocih could try and become almost un-attackable, whirling around his opponent faster than the opponent could attack. Ocih would have to work on this, fast flurries of attack followed by fast defensive moves.

Ocih looked at his master. "Let us begin then, Master"

Allowing the force to flow through him, Ocih reached out and felt his masters presence. Heightening his senses, Ocih tried to become aware of the cosmic force, both present and future. Igniting the saber, a blue shade of color hummed to life, and the battle began.

Using force speed, Ocih ran towards his master, jumping over him to try to catch him offguard. Using both the force and his sword skills, Ocih attacked with his saber relentlessly, poking here, slashing there, always trying to find an opening in Master Korre's defense. Backflipping over his master and whirling towards Korre's backside, Ocih let out another fast paced flurry of attacks

Alaan was in motion as soon as Ocih began. He shifted his stance, kneeling as Ocih passed overhead. His pupil's overhead strikes were met by swift blocking motions. Their blades sparked and crackled as they collided multiple times. Ocih landed behind Alaan, slicing for his right leg. Alaan moved out of the way, the blow missing by mere centimeters. His padawan persisted, and Alaan continued to deflect his attacks, using very little energy to do so. Something he had found as a practicioner of Form Four was that it was a physically demanding form. It would take time for his padawan to fully acclimate to such a rigorous fighting style. He would need to learn control.

Ocih's next strike, a stab toward Alaan's back, was quickly deflected by a simple but effective spin of his own blade as Alaan turned. The countering move sent Ocih's saber spinning from his grasp. It fell to the floor below.

"Control is necessary Padawan." Alaan said. "And mind your footing," he added as his booted foot swept Ocih's ankles.

He was impressed by Ocih's tenacity. Even on a balance beam several meters from the floor below, he was still boldly fighting. Alaan could see that he was gifted.

Ocih fell off the beam, caught unaware when his master's foot kicked his own. Falling, Ocih rolled and landed gracefully on the ground. Using the force, Ocih pulled the lightsaber towards him and then jumped back up onto the beam. Starting to grow tired, Ocih called upon the force to try to push back the physical pains of his body. "You're right Master, lets see if I can land some of those blows now and show some control."

Ocih jumped in the air and striked with his saber. Landing, Ocih cooly collected himself and started to attack again, this time not as fast but much more controlled. Left slash, right stab, downwards poke, all coming at precise locations of Master Korre's body to try and find the one open spot. Growing more tired, Ocih began to slow his attack down and back track.

Finding a lull in the attack, Ocih once again jumped over his master and threw a few fast flurries at him.

Alaan was ready for Ocih. He batted the first slash away, sidestepping to avoid the following stab. The attack from above did not connect at all, as Alaan simply took another step along the balance beam. Ocih was applying himself, but still lacked the subtlety that he would learn through sparring. Alaan would keep this exercise up until he was forced to draw his second blade. At which point the contest would begin in earnest.

"Stop trying, and do." Alaan said as Ocih attacked again. The flurry of attacks were indeed quick, but they lacked power. This was the true weakness of Ataru, many attacks, but not a lot of power behind them. Still, one lucky swing skimmed the sleeve of Alaan's tunic. His right arm was singed. Alaan leaped clear of the balance beam, flipped in midair, and landed on top of the climbing wall platform.

"Im sorry Master, next time I'll make sure I connect properly with your arm." Ocih snickered.

Finding a training block lying on the floor, Ocih used the force and threw it at his master on the wall. Jumping, Ocih focused more on his attacks. Seems like I need a change of plans Ocih attacked Korre with another flurry of fast slashes and cuts and then decided to try and throw his Master off balance by slowing his attack down and focusing on stronger attacks. Letting the force control his movement, Ocih no longer worried about speed but threw power into his attacks. Downward slash followed by downward slash followed in the attack.

Alaan deflected the brick that Ocih had thrown. It slammed into a wall and crumbled. He defended himself as Ocih attacked again, deflecting and redirecting attacks. Another graze burned his left arm as he blocked a particularly quick slash. Then Ocih's pattern changed and became slower. He was now putting more power into his attacks. Alaan blocked a few of his downward strikes, then he lashed out with his right foot, under Ocih's arms. He caught Ocih in the center of his chest with the strike.
"Don't leave yourself open Padawan, always remember your opponent will be unforgiving."
He followed through with a Force shove.

Ocih wasn't ready for Korre's foot coming at his arm. Caught off guard, he was blasted back by the shot to his chest. Before Ocih had a chance to react to what had happenned, Korre used the force and shoved Ocih into the wall.

The duel was over, Ocih had lost, but he had also learned invaluable lessons during the fight

Alaan moved over to where Ocih lay, and reached down to help him up. His padawan seemed to be fine, and he had learned a good deal.
"We will continue the duel," Alaan said. "And this time, both of us will be blindfolded." He passed a blindfold to Ocih, and then he put one on himself.
"Begin."

-- 2 months later

Flashes of blue and amythyst lit the dim room. The combatants, soaked with sweat and covered in burns, were in constant motion. They were sparring in the characteristic rapid movements of Ataru, and both seemed to have limitless energy and stamina.
Alaan Korre finally stopped, deactivating his sabers and clipping them to his belt.
"Well done Ocih. You have learned well. I have taught you all I can of the lightsaber."

Ocih deactivated his saber and tried to catch his breath. Sweat was pouring down Ocih's body after he and Korre had sparred for what seemed like hours. Calming his body, Ocih bowed towards his master.

"Thank you Master Korre, I have learned a great deal from you on the principles of Ataru, and of the lightsaber itself. Im curious though, what is left of my training here?"

"There will always some things that remain to be learned," Alaan said. "But one thing that you need to complete is a lightsaber of your own." Alaan motioned for Ocih to follow him. They left the training room and entered the corridors of the Temple.

"There are instructions for the construction of a lightsaber, as well as the necessary parts to build one, these have been delivered to your room. Assemble the lightsaber, then come to me. I will be meditating in the gardens, near the stream."
