With over 20 people signed-up to participate in this thread already I think from the start some structure and organization will be required to ensure everything runs smoothly. So I ask the following of those participating.
POSTING ORDERS AND NOTES:
FIGHTERS:
If you are fighting in the current match, either with a character or NPCing, you may post back and forth with your opponent without waiting for any spectators to post. We have 15 people spectating and I don't think we want to wait for all of them to post before each post of fighting. So post anytime after your opponent has posted.
Also to help distinguish your post as whats happening inside the pit of the Colosseum include a tag at the beginning like -In the arena- at the top of every post while you fight. That way people that want to follow the fight closely can easily distinguish between combatant's posts and spectator's posts.
SPECTATORS:
For the most part I'll leave it open to a free-for all posting order UNTIL something happens outside of the arranged fights. What I mean by that is, *cough* I know multiple entities are planning various kinds of trouble. When you initiate said trouble we will need to immeidately slow down the posting and establish an order. So be ready for that and give it some time after you start something. Especially allow me time to respond NPC with the guards.
GAMBLING:
You should make OOC posts here clarifying any bets placed on any fights. You can and should of course also RP out in the thread the placing of the bets and such. The first fight will be Tal Pulvis vs Tal Verda, so begin placing any bets on that fight ASAP before we get too far into it.
LETHAL VS NON-LETHAL FIGHTS:
I am leaving it to individuals to sort out between themselves in PMs if the fight can be lethal or non-lethal. To originally help attract fighters I said these matches could be non-lethal if people wanted. So if anyone wants a non-lethal agreement, for at least this set of games you have to respect that. In the future since there has been enough interest for lethal matches I probably won't allow this option again.
As I said I want this sorted out in PMs for each fight and then for one of the fighters to PM me the decision. This way everyone else won't know if the fight could be ending with a death or not until the very end! See below my notes on the structure of fights and winning to see how this will all play out.
FIGHTING:
All of the fights will be with lethal weapons, not training weapons, regardless of what has been decided above. There should be lots of blood shed on both participants ends, despite who may be winning. The type of armor and weapons used in each fight can vary and should be agreed upon by the two combatants in this thread or in PM.
WINNING AND LOSING:
There are two ways to win a fight. If it is a lethal match you can simply outright kill the opponent before they surrender.
Otherwise, it is more common and encouraged that you disarm and/or greatly wound your opponent, forcing them to surrender. A gladiator surrenders by making the gesture of surrender, raising their left index finger in the air. The fighting must cease and the victorious gladiator will hold their weapon to their opponent's throat.
At that time, spectators in the crowd are encouraged to yell and and get rowdy, encouraging them either to be spared or killed. That is all part of the fun. The signal to go on and finish off, or kill the surrendering fighter is a thumbs up. The signal to cease and give them mercy is a thumbs down. The editor of the fight, in this case Durggorra the Hutt will give the final decision based on the whims of the crowd. Of course non-lethal agreements will also be kept in mind.
SECURITY:
For those that would seek to cause trouble that is all good and fine for the sake of RP. Keep in mind though that security is tight and that there is a heavy presence of guards at every corner. This is not an old crumbling stone Colosseum either but a state of the art brand new structure with plenty of cameras, sensors and security features in all locations. Oh and not to mention a blood thirsty crowd itching for violence.
So with all of that I encourage the first two characters up Tal Pulvis and Tal Verda to make their entrances and begin fighting. Spectators can post at their leisure. Get in any bets on this first match ASAP.
