This is the OOC and signup for a combat simulation that I'd like to do. It's from an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Episode 5, Rookies). It's the animated series show, not the Samurai Jack-style 5-minute episodes (much better series imo).

The basic rundown is this:

A squad of Mandalorians are stationed on an isolated outpost on a remote Rishi moon with the sole purpose of maintaining a security beacon. The beacon transmits an all-clear status to the main clans as a vital safety. We're in the only system of a backdoor hyperspace route, and are charged to defend the facility for three days until our scheduled transfer.

Halfway through the first day, after we've had time to establish our preparations and security measures, a team of assassin droids will attempt to infiltrate the complex and control the beacon, allowing an invasion fleet passage into Mandalorian territory. Of course, we won't know it's happening until we learn about the droid's presence, but the droids themselves will have had time themselves :D

What do you guys think? On the other hand, we could just set this up as a general mission, instead of a simulation.

I'm down, though this as a mission sounds interesting.

Well, it depends on if people want a stir-crazy Zevnir with them. Otherwise I'm down. (:

Sounds like a good sim. As an actual mission I like it as well, except then you'd have to figure out who sent the assassin droids. The GA? The Sith? The Chiss? Who knows, could add some fun intrigue.

Of course Justice, you're more than welcome :D

I'm leaning towards an actual mission as well. I think that the NPC enemy (player controlled or just described by the players) would probably just be defined as an organized pirate group, or something. Doesn't have to be too fancy and become complicated by involving other factions.

Ok, so far I've got the following:

Zach - Kel Vizsla
A'den - A'den
Nirvana - one of his Mandos
Sreeya - Kale (?)
Corrupt Justice - Zevnir Terjoh

Boom, six people. Let's call the signups there, as I'm sure six Mandalorians should be able to fend off a squad of assassin droids.

As for NPCs, what would you prefer? Just PC Mandos, without NPC aid, and how many enemies? I was thinking twice our number, so two droids for each of us. These are supposed to be high class droids as well, and more effective since the Clone Wars era. I'm thinking these are along the lines of Grievous's droids, with the acrobatics and melee proficiency.

We can't say the GA without Ratler's approval, plus that would cause an open war the jedi can't afford to have. The Sith and Chiss are our bffs...why would they send high end assassin droids after us?

That was my entire point dude, I was saying that it would create intrigue because there would be no obvious 'enemy' that would claim responsibility or whom we could easily deduce to be behind the whole thing.

The only Mandalorian option would be...declare war on EVERYONE! Once we wipe out the galaxy the culprits would be dead. MYSTERY SOLVED! Scooby snacks for errbody! :P

Lets say it sith spy/assassin droids just checking up on us but we thought it was someone else droids and when we fire at them that are under threat and they "want" to kill us all.?

I say npc just in the beginning the ones that die first.

Nobody sends state of the ****ing art Assassin Droids to check up on a group of highly trained killers and soldiers, buddy. And if they were "sent to check on" you, they'd use the correct codes and identification, and you'd be warned in advance. Standard military protocol.

So you wouldn't start shooting at them "by accident". And they'd be droids. They'd be programmed not to shoot at you. So they wouldn't suddenly just "decide" to kill you, even if you fired upon them first. Otherwise they'd be useless as a battlefield asset. And lastly, Mandalorians would never condone of Assassin Droids. Battle droids, yeah, sure. But ASSASSIN droids? No.

Edit: Besides, so far, Sith and Mandalorian military stuff are utterly seperate. The Sith have no reason at all to come "check up" on any Mandalorian position.

I though this was supposed to be a combat simulation? So why not stolen and reprogrammed GA droids? Mandalorians do, afterall, train in hyper-lethal situations that are as real as possible.

I think Raif's point was that no matter WHERE the droids come from, if it involves another faction, it would need to be cleared ahead of time.
As for where we choose them to come from, we have many options, all of which can be spun with a twist to create a fun and interesting story.

As for NPCs, I like that idea, Kiro, just as having our NPC forces be the first to fall. I think we won't really recognize the droids' presence until they're already in the facility, so that should be easy enough to RP with the NPCs dead.

As for where the droids come from, I'd be fine with saying that some pirates stole some high tech droids from a raided Chiss facility. I can mention a report of it in idle discussion among some NPCs in my next thread with Dorann, lol.

I'm gonna go ahead and start the thread - rules are thus: At least three other people need to post before you can post again. I'm not doing this "back and forth" bullshit so everyone has four pages to read every time they can get a post in. It drives people away, and it's a hassle to find exactly where everyone else left off. It often results in people getting excluded from the story. I don't want to set a specific posting order though, since not everyone wants to wait a whole cycle for it go around. Sorry if I'm sounding harsh, but I feel very strongly about this point.
