Della's eyes went wide at the floating image. She had seen holographic technology while at the academy, but it amazing her. Her people took flat images and there were in black and white. They were also somewhat blurry. Nothing like the image of the planet that Ryloss was showing her.
"Big!" she exclaimed joyously. She spread her hands apart. So far, the people she had met had only drawn their homes for her on her primitive slate and chalk. If Della had one of those nifty devices, her drawings would be a lot more interesting!
Della was a giddy as a child. That was so cool. THe first time she had seen holograms, it frightened her. Now, she understood the potential of the technology. A way to look at something and understand it entirely. She imagined using it to study the way she sprinted so she could study her form and improve her time.
She wondered if he could close in on an area. She pointed to a piece of the planet and made a square gesture with her hands. If he closed in, would she see surface details?
Ryloss shrugged. "I can do this." He tapped the planet and a picture appeared. Not what was actually there, just a snapshot. It was of a Sith Pureblood village. He looked at Atreia. "You okay?"
"No, that's a historical picture. I doubt that there are enough of you left to fill a village, and that's including people like Exal. You are the most pure Sith in the galaxy At." Ryloss felt kinda bad about leading her on about this, deliberate or not.
Della began to investigate the different buttons on the device. Some were different than others. All the labels on the screen were written in basic, of course. The planet flicked off. Oops, didn't want that. How to get it back on?
She listened somewhat to what Atreia said, but paid it no attention. If she had, she would have been even more confused. Instead, she began to press buttons and eventually a sound come on:
Come on mate, get up!"
"How about you shove it up your ass, Valin,"
"Now now Ryloss, no need to be li-"
"Did I tell you to shut up? Gods, my head..."
"You drinking?"
"It wouldn't matter if I had, would it? Now piss off."
"No."
"Valin..."
*sound of something splashing and Ryloss's feral roar*
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR?"
"I warned you..."
"Just go f-"
Whatever that was, wasn't what she was searching for. How did this contraption worked? She pushed a button. It turned off. That wasn't good either! She pressed another button:
"Reformat files? y/n" Della didn't understand a word of it. She looked at the screen side ways. Was it a riddle? She wasn't too goo at riddles, though she'd always tried.
‘Astral! That’s so wicked Ryloss,’ Yuunda said as he showed his holoprojector and feeling more of his old self than before, ‘I wish I had one of those,’ he watched for a bit as Della started to play around with it for a bit then an idea came to him, ‘hey does it show different creatures as well?’
He liked this group of new found friends he made, he wanted to show them part of his home and what better way than to show a Krayt Dragon? He thought it would definitely impress them to let them know he had once killed one before, and not just any old krayt, but a Greater Krayt at that.
"NO! DON'T PRESS THAT!" Ryloss jumped forwards, faster than most people could. "DON'T! Please don't press that! Please! Please don't!" If she pressed that button, she would have access to all of his files. ALL, of them.
Atreia sat back, watching the scene unfold as Della almost wiped out all of his files. She chuckled as the audio recording was playing. Evidently, he wasn't always the calm and charismatic guy she knew and loved.
Della, if you ever want to see my planet again, don't press the button...
"Listen to her. Pleases listen to her. Don't touch that button. Please. Don't."
Ryloss was desperate. That pad had some of his most treasured recordings on it. There was a picture of his parents and the sound recording of Valin, who had died nearly a year ago. He had too many things on there to loose.
Della blinked at Ryloss. He apparently really wanted his device back. She shrugged and gave it back to him. The cryptic riddle it was flashing was still unanswered.
Yuunda watched as the scene rapidly unfolded. Della, it appeared, was clearly not very good with technology. The image that appeared on the hologram suddenly vanished as she messed around with it, then it started to reply a voice recording. At first Yuunda couldn’t recognize the voices, then he realized it was Ryloss and some other person speaking. He caught the name Valin, then he realized it must’ve been some private recording.
He found himself holding back a laugh as he watched Ryloss get all flustered over it, ‘So…’ he said trying to keep a straight face, ‘was that a friend of yours? The, uhh, other voice in the recording I mean.’
There it was, Yuunda had hit a sore spot with Ryloss, though it was one he knew all too well. The loss of a friend, though Yuunda had lost much more than that only a year ago. The memory of losing not only his best friend, but his family and his farm was still painful to remember. His shoulder started to ache as it did sometimes when unwanted memories rose up in him about his time with the sand people.
He let out a sigh and rolled his shoulder as he nodded solemnly, ‘I’m sorry about that, I know what it’s like to lose those you love.’
