BACKSTORY
Oxyotyl was born to a high level corporate manager in the Sluis Van Shipyards, born into wealth and power. Yet even as a young Sluissi he was hard working and determined, feeling that earning his keep was better than just floating off his family's wealth and prestige. Like many of his species he worked slow and careful to produce only the finest work he could, where he earned his promotions rather than allow himself to rise due to nepotism. A few times he even turned down a rise in his position, as he had felt he was not worthy of it or felt someone else was better suited for the task.
Even then he rose the ladder of corporate bureaucracy, going from a standard laborer to a shift manager to even beyond what his father once was. All the while he was doing the best for all those under him, which had earned him a rather high regard with many of his co-workers. During down times from his work, Oxyotyl began to have a taste for politics. He began studying the laws of Sluis Van, combing over each and every one with a fine toothed comb. As most were already governing buisness he found himself understanding how things worked, why they worked, and how to apply that to his work. This just made him a better worker, and an even greater boss as instead of just telling those under him what they were doing wrong he could instead explain it.
His progress through the Sluissi hierarchy was rather quick, for the Sluis Van, due to just how popular he was. He was genuine to those under him, treating them as if they were family. He was fair and just, several times drawing the ire of those in places of power due to his fight for the workers. Oxyotyl even has two ammendments to previous legislation that he got passed, despite all of the legal red tape, that gave more power to the workers. For that, his nomination for Governor would be the most popular in recent memory, which then allowed him to become the third youngest Sluissi Governor on record. He has had one serious attempt on his life, which has ended up with his left arm being partially crippled due to nerve damage. After that incident, he has hired some of the best guards he could afford and does not leave him without them.
LIKES AND DISLIKES
Oxyotyl is a rather patient being, known for understanding things that take longer than scheduled if that extra time equates to a higher quality. This is reflected in his tastes, he prefers anything finely aged and high quality, specifically his cigaras, whiskeys, and wines. He is also a collector of ancient, or atleast old, artifacts and art. Anything from paintings, sculptures, pottery, weaponry, carvings, writings, armor, and anything in between draws his eye. He also enjoys glass work, in particular small glass figurines really make him happy. He also has a fascination with animals, mostly reptiles and those that live for quite a long time.
What Oxyotyl does not like is not a long list, but what he does not like he loathes. First and foremost is laziness, as while the Slussi people are slow workers that is because they strive for quality. Laziness is simply a useless attribute some of the creatures of the galaxy have that anyone from Sluis Van cannot understand. He also does not like violence personally, but he does not mind if others use it while he is watching. He simply hates getting his hands dirty. One thing he also does not care much for is overly sweet things, he understands and even can appreciate others' sweet toothes may be more developed than his own but Oxyotyl prefers a more savory or bitter taste himself.
