Can the knights be promoted forcefully (pun intended) to master so they can train the padawans to become knights?

Erm, Knights and Masters alike train Padawan. You simply call your Knight "master" out of respect. Am I not mistaken? It is then the Council that determines if the Padawan can ascend?

so whats the point of being a master if you can train as a knight?

Because I'm pretty sure Masters are more powerful. Also, masters outrank Knights. Usually it's pretty boss when you're not only a badass, but you command a squad of badasses who do your every bidding.

Knights can train padawans to become Knights, so I don't really see how "forceful promotion" of Knights to Masters would alleviate the situation.

I do agree the ratio of available teachers to students is a bit out of whack. Unintended consequence of being strict about who can start as Knight/Master and who cannot: Those who are qualified to instruct are generally stretched very thin. After the new timeline settles and more of us get promoted, however, this will eventually stabilize.

With the rank of Master comes additional experience, knowledge, leadership, and power.

You could ask yourself a similar question about Knights: what's the point of a Jedi Knight if you can only train as a Jedi Master?

hmm...that's a very good point everyone, especially Rhea. Masters can focus on leadership and Knights will be doing hands on stuff like kenobi and jinn. Makes more since.

Also, in terms of the "out of whack" ratio between mentors and students, I believe that is why the FL and co. implemented the "classes" to make training for all Padawans accessible even without a personal master. It seems to be going well so far, if a little slower than other means. But it's still working successfully I think, so far.

Your character may not be learning something, but you are also given the chance to flesh your characters out. You can read mine and miranda's thread Raise High the Guardian's saber we have seriously done nothing but talk, but you can see that my character is already showing the potential to become something promising and is understanding things the master is saying. This understanding helps you curve your character to become what ever specialization you choose. Hope that helps.

Don't progress story, progress character. and remember "Progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be... prohibited!"... sorry couldn't resist

Canadians are so smart :D

Actually it's a good icebreaker to see how your character would "flesh" when talking to people. Kind of like leaving your dungeon for the first time he he.
