So much for trying to talk some sense into him. Drane didn’t seem to have any left of it, and Cheriss was about at her wit’s end. When he finished his sentence about fish, she dismissed him as too far gone to be brought back, and that was that. The tango would go on, but she wouldn't hold back.
His right foot went forward, and Cheriss’ left went back. When Drane’s right saber came for her hip, she pulled her right arm back to block it, letting the saber absorb most of the impact. Stepping to her right as she pushed her sword arm forward, it left her left side somewhat open to attack. However, to compensate she kept her left hand behind her back, ready to send a Force push or another lightning strike back in case he were to aim there next.
Just then, she felt something try to grab that very arm, and she realized that it was one of the Joiners who’d gotten close. Kriff. She turned around just slightly, sending what was more of a half-push at the man. It was enough to get him to back off, but it meant that she was now closer to the engines than she would have liked. She focused back on Drane, keeping her saber in front of her as she readied herself to parry.
