Okay, Let me start by saying that I do not believe you are a bad person. But I will say that you are either ignorant of what really goes on in abuse/rape situations or...well, I'm actually just going to believe that. You're just ignorant.

I've worked with survivors of sexual violence. My friends are survivors of domestic rape. I am a survivor of incest. In EVERY case of sexual violence I have heard, discussed, or read about it was ALWAYS about power and control over the victim. Birth control had absolutely NO IMPACT on these cases.

In these cases, the abuser sought OTHER means of control. Most of it is psychological. Taunting, guilt, power play are all tactics used by abusers to keep control over their victims. There is this shitty undercurrent in our society that we find SOME reason other than the fact that a person is a suck **** to explain sexual assault. In almost EVERY instance, the survivor is blamed. Reasons have included:

the way a person dressed. walking to their car after work. not screaming enough. not telling someone right away. not fighting back. it is their wifely/spousely duty to have sex even if by force. they were too sexually repressed anyway and had it coming. they had one martini five hours ago. not carrying a gun.

Survivors are told that they are unclean, tainted, and impure. We are told are we are now "damaged goods" because of this bullshit in society that teaches about how a woman's sexuality is tied to her worth. I see this often in the churches I've gone to and the minute someone brings it up, I'm gone. No, I don't give them a chance to explain their reasoning because in my experience they come up with a bullshit answer why woman's worth=sexuality. God at least gives women credit for being excellent managers and capable of political powerplays. This is probably why I only found a HANDFUL of churches I feel at home in.

To the first portion I won't waste much time addressing since its just a analyzation (I know that word is spelled wrong but I cannot remember how to spell it and auto-correct is giving me all the wrong words and I am too stubborn to look it up.) of my opening and I do say its a fair overall insight on it.

And to be fair your post doesn't offer any sources of its own, just as a side note. You're being as anecdotal as I and neither one of us are really playing a devil's advocate right now so lets not be childish here when we're both guilty of the same crime.

And ultimately I would take your post serious if not for this constant reliance on the term "phobic" which has become so overused and honestly, I take offense to. You calling me a "homophobe"/"transphobe" you are essentially calling my entire thought irrelevent and based purely as a knee-jerk reaction. You're basically telling me out of the gate there is no value to what I am saying. Because there couldn't possibly be any reason whatsoever, no viability for the thought that perhaps this whole thing might be not all together right. You ultimately make yourself out to be the true "phobe" by trying to put everything in a box, that all the opposition to what you think is just out of fear...

Fear of what, though? I have concerns, which pen-ultimately amount to "fears" I suppose, regarding this blind faith in modernism/progressivism. That letting young girls at what, 14 years old? Have birth control? Will somehow not result in problems. That completely dismantling the meaning of a marriage in the United States will have no possibility of effecting the structure of this country in any way. That the concept of a slippery slope is a myth.

I'd say the whole "friends line" but I know the immediate response to that. "no it doesn't matter you made friends with a gay you're still a homophobe... somehow."

And for the record I don't know where this whole thing about rape came from, about the whole blaming-the-victim. I believe I expressed my opinion rather intelligibly back in the Lad Culture thread. You really provided no thought to reply to my point. You just demeaned it. Its still a fact if we make birth control availible to essentially children that pedophiles can easily coerce their victims into obtaining it, to prevent any sort of pregnancy. The child stays quiet and there is no newborn to bring up any questions. Regardless, you've really no basis for this whole thing regarding pedophilia being a sickness at your own viewpoint. How do you just draw that line? Do you know? I'd like to know. Because a bunch of people got together to say it is? I am afraid I don't subscribe to the Übermensch thought. Once you take one step you inevitably take another. 25 years ago, LGBT groups never claimed gay marriage was on the discussion table, now they demand it like its a right. Because now suddenly statuses are a right in America, because yes, Marriage is a status. Just like King, or prince, and we don't have rights to statuses here in America. And its only been in the last few years that it started. There was a time when it was thought being gay was a choice, now you're just "born" gay, like that actually matters. Because yeah, we're all born with tendencies.

"Why doesn't the guy with anger problems get to let his frustration out? its just natural. Let him express himself like the gays. Let the pedophiles express themselves too, you bigot." Thats going to be the next arguement. Each time people like you refute it'll ever reach that point then in a matter of decades its at each and every person's doorstep and we either have to accept it with open arms, or we're bigots. You're proving it right now since I am not just closing my eyes and opening my arms that you're calling me a homophobe, transphobe, etc.

Regardless, this is my last post on this subject. I knew I'd get flak for it and I am sure people will be picking this post to bits as well. You need an enemy, and you're all "assholephobic" (real cute btw) and you can't have your enemy having anything to his own argument, so you have to box him up in a neat bow, that hes just a bigot and a homophobe and that there is nothing of value to what he says. Because thats how we increase our intellectualism. And because of that, you'll believe what you want to and you'll never see me as anything more then a monster in that respect.
