I'm just wondering if it's okay for people to do threads which are only for themelves? Say, updated every 12 hours or so, for personal study, training or even constructing things such as droids and equipment. Hope this makes sense >___<

Hm, the issue is with some things either it's impossible to viably find someone else to help you or do it with you, or if it's something like constructing a droid it takes a lot of time and it's really a personal project.

I don't think it's discouraged, just not effective in making character development with others. RPing by yourself should be fine, I believe.

In my experience you can find someone to help you with anything.

As far as solo training it's definitely doable. I'd link you to a thread I had regarding that but I'm on my phone.

As far as building stuff, go for it. I don't see why it'd be a problem. Just don't magically get superawesomeamazing stuff and make sure IC time goes by reasonably.

Indeed. RPing by yourself can still provide character development, but doing so by yourself limits growth with other characters.

True, true. Still, I've always found that doing a little bit of writing on your own with a single character can really strengthen them and maybe even give you more insight to them. I do a lot of in character journaling and stories with my characters and I've always enjoyed it.

I've never found it to limit growth with other characters. For me, my characters never stop growing. :D

Thank you very much for the help. I'll obviously try to do it with others but with regards to the droid building I think it'd have to be solo with input from others only where necessary

You're talking solo threads. Having done solo threads I can tell you that though many people discourage solo threads, I myself like to do them because then I control the outcome of the story and the dynamic of the characters (of which the others are NPCs). Because of this, I really like solo threads, just like I like roleplays because it's unpredictable, even for the writers.

Yes, but defeats the purpose of the forum- collaborative story

I would highly encourage you to make a OOC thread with your objective stated and see if others would like to join you on your character's journey.

That said, go for it.

Alright thank you; as I've said I'll at least try and get others involved :P But with an ongoing little project I thought it'd be more of a solo-thing. I'll sort something ! :)
