Other than what I had mentioned before, no, I haven't given any more thought to it.

Well I remember you mentioning, I believe on skype, that we're having a vote. In here, though, you described Ebb announces everyone's position. I was just trying to figure out which one it was or if it was something else.

That was probably when the idea was first brought to the table, but Ebb would be a self proclaimed Grand Master essentially as she assigns order to the NJO.

So I'm hearing through the grapevine that GABA is being excluded from discussions you all are having because you believe she's keeping work to herself and not letting you help. I want to assure you all that this is not the case. The Jedi are part of the think tank and how they will operate in the think tank is still something we're discussing, since it involves how they relate to the Rebels -- who we're still developing.

Please be patient with GABA since she can only go based on the think tank. Thanks.

Alright, so basically I was just looking for a reason to use that bada- awesome template that Cassa made for Operation: Tailwind. I suppose this is a basic overview of the operation, and when i get a chance to talk to them more, we can figure out what in detail she knows, I suppose.

THE JEDI SHADOW.

YAY.

GABA gave me this write-up, as applicable to the Jedi Shadow:

New Jedi Order

Jedi Shadow

[PIc - DONE]

During the days of the Old Republic, the Jedi Order held expectation of a rumor organization called

the Jedi Shadow. Their purpose was to eliminate dangers before they became a threat to the people

of the Republic. Members of the Order were frequently required to make moral compromises in the

betterment of the future. The Shadow had been known to eradicate relics and followers of the dark

side, either by taking up ranks or hiding in the shadows among dark side cohorts. Their patience and

timing to strike was precise, making them a dangerous for to any adversary.

The New Jedi Order would find no need to reinstate the Jedi Shadow until the waning years of the

Galactic Alliance. However, the effort would prove to be ineffective as the Sith took hold of the Empire

and conquered nearly half of the galaxy. It wouldn’t be years until after the exile of the Jedi Order

would the Masters of the Order decide to restore the Jedi Shadow. With rumors that the once broken

Order was reorganizing, the Sith became increasingly aggressive in their hunt for lightsiders. The Jedi

needed to be ahead of the Sith and their Hunters in order to continue to protect the Order.

The Jedi Shadow is separated into three divisions:

Shadows:

Keeping with the traditions of the Jedi Shadow, those serving as shadows understand the thinking of

the Sith and the Dark Side in general. The Shadow specializes specifically with countering the dark side,

whether it is its followers, artifacts, or just gathering important information on them and their actions.

To accomplish their missions, Shadows blend in with the ranks or by direct confrontation in order to

eliminate any imposing dangers. Their purpose once infiltrating is to gather information of Sith and Dark

Cults movement as well as their collective knowledge on the Jedi Order. All information is reported back

to the Shadow Keeper and Grand Master and if needed, Shadows may act if the situation calls upon

to do so. Shadows are trained both body and mind to resist the dark side’s temptations and are often

called to commit acts that question the Jedi morals and values.

Infiltrators:

Infiltrators are responsible for the intelligence gathering and sabotaging of non-Force sensitive groups

across the galaxy. Infiltrators blend in with ranks of civilians, criminals, and other societies in which

the Order believe they should keep a watch upon. Jedi infiltrators rarely encounter followers of the

dark side, but it does not imply they lack the skills to do so. Members involved in the Infiltrators listen

for information on criminal movements and the information gathered is reported back to the Shadow

Keeper and the Grand Master. If needed, Infiltrators may act when necessary to protect members

of the Order as well as innocents in the galaxy. Just like the Shadows, Infiltrators have been trained

extensively in both mind and body and carry whatever skills needed to blend in efficiently with the

crowd in order to avoid compromise of the mission.

Antarian Rangers:

Even in the direst of times, the Jedi had allies. The Antarian Rangers date before the fall of the Old

Republic assisting the Jedi Order in missions that would not seem to fit a Jedi Knight. Members

consisted of non-Force Sensitives as well as those who were not enough Force Sensitive to be fully

trained as Jedi. The Antarian Rangers take on a variety of tasks and missions or even assist in helping

supply members with materials and assets needed to defend peace and justice throughout the galaxy.

There is not just one specialty within the Antarian Rangers making their unique make up, training, and

knowledge invaluable to the New Jedi Order. Those recruited into the Rangers are selected under strict

guidelines and go through extensive training in order to fully prepare them for whatever mission they

may come upon.

I like it. But I expanded upon it, made it into a narrative format, and wanted to get feedback. I'd like to put it up in the Shadows Board once that's a thing. Since Ruthie isn't on skype and I have the patience of a four year old, I'll post it here:

The screen flickers as a tall, handsome middle aged man appears. In the new archives of the New Jedi Order, based on Arbra, the hologram of the man stood grinning at the camera. The man was a bit fuzzy, due to the elementary equipment they had available when he recorded it, but he was recognizable regardless.

”Greetings,” the man said, more formal than he might be in reality,, ”I am Councilor Larik Novan of the New Jedi Order. I have been a member of the Order since 996ABY and currently serve as the Shadow Keeper. As we reinstate this programme to the Jedi, there are many key concepts to understand and keep in mind. As quickly as possible, I will be overviewing them throughout this holorecording. If you are ever confused, I would encourage you to seek assistance. The pursuit of knowledge is valuable precept of the Jedi Shadow and is always admissible. Confusion and ignorance will only hurt us.” The image flickered briefly, indicating the end of the introduction. There were controls on a panel in front of the Jedi, allowing them to operate through the different chapters so they could review information that the Jedi Master discussed. [floatleft]http://i.imgur.com/IQeao2d.jpg[/floatleft]

”We will first address the most important part of the Jedi Shadow: Understanding the Code.” The man absent-mindedly shifted his weight from one foot to the other, trying to find an engaging voice so that he could captivate the attention of the listener. ”As a member of the Jedi Shadow, there will be a lot of difficult questions that we will have to make tough decisions on. With so many threats dominating the landscape, we are the screen that protects the Jedi Order, the first line of defense. We must never forget the importance of life, however, nor our place as Jedi in the galaxy. Keeping this in the forefront of your mind as Shadow is what will protect us from the call of the Dark Side of the Force, ensuring that we stay true to the tenants of the Jedi and our duty to protect our Order and the galaxy at wide.”

”Because of this,” the man said, shifting his weight once again, ”We will be requiring that Jedi Shadow be in constant communication, meditation, and study. It is an unfortunate circumstance that we must put ourselves in these precarious situations, and so we will be taking definitive measure to keep ourselves in line with the Jedi Code. There is no limit on an activity a Jedi Shadow may have in that capacity, but for each three regular Shadow missions a Jedi engages in, they must participate in one class or mission in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. You will be reporting to Sage Master Baatch for these missions. The only exceptions to this rule will be made by the Grand Master and myself.”

6LoEPew.jpg

Again the image flickered again, someone from behind the Master approached him. He turned, briefly, and the slight image of a being behind him quietly exchanged words back and forth. The man turned back after a few seconds, going on as if nothing had happened. ”Next, we’ll go over in some detail the three different branches of the Jedi Shadow. Please remember that, although there are overarching generalizations, the activity and participations of each member is based entirely on their experience and what they are assigned to. No one will be forced to doing anything they are uncomfortable with.” The man paused for a moment, along with a slight nod, to add emphasis to the statement he had previously made. Satisfied that the importance had been established, he continued with his lecture. ”The first of the three branches in the Jedi Shadow are the Jedi Shadows. Please don’t be confused with the terminology, it’s somewhat specific. The Jedi Shadow refers to our entire organization, the Shadow that blocks the Jedi Order from those that might seek our destruction. The Jedi Shadows refer to the specific branch within the Jedi Shadow. These individuals will be select Jedi Knights and Padawans that are equipped to deal with the Dark Side of the Force. Mainly, countering the influence and containing the spread of everything associated with the Dark Side- whether that be stopping a group of Sith Crusaders on their way to one of our bases, an artifact that may aid Dark Jedi in their activities, or gathering information on the movement and structure of the New Sith Imperium’s now expanded armies. Again, it is important to remember that no one will be forced to do anything they are not comfortable with.”

”The second branch of the Jedi Shadow are the Jedi Infiltrators. These Jedi will be acting in a similar manner to the Shadows, except as pertaining to factions and organizations not associated with the Force. Mainly, then, they will be keeping an eye and interacting with different parties the Jedi need to keep an eye on in order to maintain our security and hidden nature. This will be a very good way for Jedi to get back into the field, operating as peacekeepers on different missions. There will also be more long term operations set up, to keep long term tabs on different groups and individuals. Please remember that the Infiltrators will be blending in, however, and it is more our desire for them to not be discovered.”[floatright]http://i.imgur.com/bj84a3N.jpg[/floatright]

The man’s grin returned then, after having become mildly more serious during the discussion of the Shadows and Infiltrators. ”The third extension of the Jedi Shadow is an interesting concept, and one that will be even more interesting in implementation. The Jedi Shadow will be introducing the Antarian Rangers as a branch, a group of non-Jedi who will be supporting and serving along the Order as we work to continue defending freedom and justice throughout the galaxy. There is no specific skill set required for these individuals, but we look forward to their reimplementation. The Rangers date back to before the fall of the Old Republic and will be a valuable asset as we move forward.”

”There is only one more things to discuss,” the man said, his face again growing more serious through the pixilated hologram. ”The Shadow are Jedi just the same. As much as we are assigned to difficult tasks and objectives, I will expect all Jedi to attempt to engage in the regular duties of a Jedi of their station. Being a part of the Shadow does not exclude you from anything. If you need help, seek it. If you don’t understand anything, ask.” The camera zoomed out as the man regarded the camera, a mysterious quiet coming over him.

"Jedi are the guardians of peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
Jedi use the Force only for the pursuit of knowledge, to defend, and to protect.
Jedi respect all life in the galaxy, in any form it may take.
Jedi to not rule others, but serve them for the welfare of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge, training, and self-discipline.

May the Force be with you."

I still have to go over it a few more times for flow/grammar.

Alright, above is the write up posted in the Think Tank.

The only issue I have with it being a narrative is that it is written in character and that will create an issue when and if Larik is killed or if you're not around anymore. For example we have the Eightfold Path which is an IC write up, its a nice write up, but you can't necessarily make edits to it because it is in character. We have to either get permission from the original writer or come up with a new one and post it as official.

HOWEVER
I do like the additions about the requirements and I do encourage you to add them in to the official write up. I would like to leave them straight forward and to the point since they are informational stickies and members will need to be able to look at it and see what they are looking for right away. If you would like to, perhaps in addition to the official write up, add an IC statement from Larik in such case what he will be looking for in members who are looking to join the shadow. So in that case, god forbid a high councilor turnover rate, then it can be easily removed.

That makes sense!

I'll consolidate the requirements into policy we can add in, for when we get things up and running.

Perhaps, then, I can add this to the archives instead? That way while I'm here- God forbid a high councilor turnover rate- people can see it and understand how Larik feels about it, but we have the actual policy quite simply displayed and editable as you suggested.
