War was bad for business.

Yet Nor'baal could not let it escape his notice that war was not going away. For several years the Sith had burned a swathe of destruction galaxies' northernmost reaches out of sight and out of the mind of the Clans. However, this war had recently expanded to their frontiers, with the Consortium and the Empire now at loggerheads.

Few things kept the Hutt up at night, but the prospect of his hard one peace being jeopardized by a new conflict on his border did.

So he reached out to both participants in the conflict and asked to meet them at a time of their choosing. The Consortium had been the first to respond.

Their meeting would take place over an exotic dinner on Canto Bight. He'd chosen the location for its neutrality and the efficiency of its security services, meaning the two parties could conduct their business safely and without the need to rely on heavy-handed personal security, which - in his experience - blurred talks with veiled hostility from the off.

Nor'baal had arrived the day before, stayed in the penthouse suite of the Canto Grand Casino, and now made his way, alone (save for a protocol droid) down to the meeting room. No weapons were allowed into the dining area, which had been swept for bugs and malicious devices by casino security. He passed by under his power, security guards looking dead ahead as he did so.

Once inside, Nor'baal took his place at one side of a vast table and waited for his guest to join him.

Artwork dotted the walls, ornate statuary scattered about the room, and a sizeable shielded balcony lay off to the venue's rear. The Hutt paid the decor no heed, however, as he reached for a goblet filled with Hutt wine sourced from the sludge yards of Hutta, and mulled the importance of the day's proceedings.

War was not something he wished to see come to Hutt Space again, but he hoped today to work out how this would be achieved and held in the long run.

OOC - Welcome to this diplomacy thread. As this takes place in Corp Sec, weapons and armed personal security will not be allowed inside the venue, but exotic drinks are to be considered on the house. Have fun!

Despite his overwhelmingly busy schedule, Galek had opted to take the meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Hutts. While Carrick and Emryc oversaw the majority of the war effort, the Induparan directed his efforts into Consortium foreign policy - sureing up alliances with other systems and governments, while ensuring that the ISC didn’t make any more enemies during the course of their way.

Whatever rocky relationship the Consortium had once had with the Hutt Clans - and Nor’baal in particular.. It was far past time to put all of that aside.

Following protocol for the region, Galek arrived with no weapons or droids as he entered the meeting room - his security detail waiting in a designated area outside. The Induparan was adorned in his signature style - sporting an expensive sherwani and accompanying dupatta, his dark hair styled neatly into place.

The Induparan offered Nor’baal a light nod upon entering, immediately making his way towards the table. “Your Execellency,” He began, expecting the protocol droid was fully capable of translating. Galek spoke Huttese perfectly well, but stuck to his native tongue all the same.

“How can I help you today?”

Eager to impress his guest, as well as to offer a little showmanship intended to awe and perhaps, mildly intimidate, Nor'baal gestured to one of his 'servants' <Cha jot tee lotka bkoha.> he barked out the instruction, as a recliner was quickly moved into the centre of the room to accommodate the Induparan. Next, a small table with a selection of wines native to the man's home would be produced before Nor'baal finally shooed the guards away to the corners of the room and addressed the matter at hand.

There was discontent across the regions around Hutt Space, the Sith, now at war with the Consortium, and everyone else had left the Hutts distressed that they could turn on them next. Nor'baal had never found the Sith to be a particularly amenable bunch. Meanwhile, the Consortium continued the seemingly unstoppable march to Galactic supremacy, a combination of economic and military might, partnered with almost fanatical political conformity, making them a force to be reckoned with.

All-in-all, the Hutts faced potential attack from the Empire, possible exclusion by the Consortium, and increased hostility from the other Syndicates, who all seemed to covet the power the Hutts held. In Nor'baals mind, it seemed prudent to explore new ways of doing business with the soon-to-be dominant force in the Galaxy - the Consortium.

<Jeejee doth kolka bai chobaso uba bai Yih Bmola. Peee tytung caiot neu, jeejee nem du kouwoleue tee-tocky; keueka-ou mienesa bu ceevaa danko an lumpa koi duton keemonhofwachadon mon doi twa banki danko. Tah dotmheca see bawaha kolka koi bu Lanka.> Nor'baal pretended to care about those displaced by the war, as he buttered up his statements <Hocan, bu Yih Gainlei doth panwebace da mee Nupee hatkocanh banbonzay nanpa bimay bu Beh Kacmahea, an gee panweba mi bai cohai cay uba vehpobaee bu cohanlala kankay bu Lanka an bu Pantahlea, yatuka nudd.>

Nor'baal chose his following words carefully to avoid being too direct with his meaning <Bu Yih gee masii tee Bmola che rohceua an kankanla bai oto vo woy hee. Jeejee lwaa tee kaza ba D'emperiolo cis dotmheca, an hatkocanh bantkoke bahva bai pinuodahee cay wa cuee wohadue Masetkoha, hee peee mee, bai gahkesa bu sobahesa masag dee Monba peee wa hih.> the Hutt continued, making it clear that the Hutts would not be bullied by the Empire, or anyone else.

Truthfully, Nor'baal wanted to secure the traditional borders of Hutt Space and peace in the region for business to thrive - yet he knew that not all he wanted could be achieved. <Kava hatkocanh bu Pantahlea neu bu cohanlala kankay tee dopa Masetkoha notkesa du bu jewz ku?> he asked, looking to get some 'red lines' out of the man before he went on to his own.
