NOTE: I hate profiles. Generally. If I’m feeling adventurous, if I want to consolidate information for my own benefit, if I need to list combat-related items, I’ll dive right into a profile. Otherwise, on the front end, I think they are way too ‘gamey’ and convey too much about a character OOC when such information hasn’t yet been revealed IC.

I’m really not complaining, just stating why you’ll likely see each section written to the minimum of two paragraphs, fifty words each. I didn’t attempt to cheat and just repeat words or write nonsense, but I did attempt to conceal more vital aspects about my character from you. I mean, if you haven’t learned this information IC, why should you learn it here? I’m comfy with what my character might typically think, and you can get to know him better by roleplaying with him. =D

NAME: Regin Alentis
FACTION: Sith Brotherhood
RANK: Sith
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 30
GENDER: Male
FORCE SENSITIVE: Sensitive and trained in the Force
APPEARANCE
Height:
6’2”
Weight: 155 lbs
Body type: Muscular
Hair type: Short
Hair color: Dark blond
Eye color: Amber
Skin color: Tanned

PERSONALITY
Regin’s personality is best measured by those experiencing it in order to measure it. He is a reserved man, mostly keeping to himself, and carrying on a conversation with him is typically only achieved if the conversation is anything but casual. Eventually, when talking has served its purpose, he will seek to cut it short without a care for how he comes across by doing so.

However, when engaged, Regin can just as much come off as polite and well-mannered. If he’s not insulted, he’s not insulting, at least not by intention. With a character who is, by nature and by principle, straight down to business and swing sabers, talk later, expect him to have little patience for those closer to the opposite side of the spectrum.

BIOGRAPHY
Regin was born and raised on Tatooine. The younger brother of two, but older than his sister, his childhood was mostly maintained via his siblings. His father was a banker and his mother was often sick. The former, then, was mostly too busy to focus on home life, and when he was home, he was mostly too busy caring for his wife, Regin’s mother, to focus on his children.

Eventually, Regin was integrated into the Sith after committing murder on his home planet, his Force signature being sought after by a Sith Lord seeking to recruit individuals to his cause. Alone, since lost from his family and his family lost to him, Regin was trained in the dark side, though his master fell off the face of existence and hasn’t returned since.

SKILLS
When Regin sets out on a course to achieve a goal, almost nothing can stand in his way to achieve it. When devoted to a cause, “devotion” stands out in the spotlight to define itself to the letter. His loyalties, wherever they lie beyond himself, are generally revealed in their value based on the actions that accompany them, serving as self-fulfilling truths. He uses his intuition, intelligence and interpersonal manipulation to achieve his ends.

However, it is because of Regin’s rigid sense of duty, to himself or to others, that he remains a stubborn individual. He can be unmovable, at least initially, even when faced with an obstacle where he must move out of the way and reroute his course in order to resume it. At first, he might instead seek to overcome it, until that obstacle proves itself to be insurmountable.

With Sith training having taken up younger years of his life, Regin focused primarily on swordsmanship, favoring the blade over Force powers. This was in part because of his aggressive stance toward fighting, backed by his anger as a youth, and also his master himself favoring the lightsaber over lightning. In the beginning, the lightsaber form deemed best suited to Regin given his rage level was Form VII, Juyo. However, his master was himself an expert at Form II, Makashi. Rather than attempt to teach too much to his apprentice, however, the Sith Lord instead sought to use the concepts of balance and precision of Makashi as a structure to the aggressive and unpredictable aspects of Juyo. Regin was emphasized that channeling his rage into explosive attacks was a useful tool, but his attacks still had to be precise, and his unpredictability still had to have balance.

GEAR
Lightsaber: Dual-phase, red blade, silver, curved hilt x2
Ship: X-57 'Ziost Hunter' Starfigher
Pistol: CMBP-12
Droid: HK-Series Assassin Droid [Name: "Sid"]

I think the general idea is that characters =/= players/writers. It gives the players/writers something to refer to when reacting to each each others characters, when the IC posting may not always be enough. There's a lot of world building and a lot of things involved in each character, even minute details not often repeated in each IC post. I often use them to refer to appearances and the like.

But he seems cool! Hope you have fun :)

I know haha. I'm not saying profiles are useless or have no purpose and no one should like them. Just saying that where some like lasagne, others do not.

I'm actually primarily active on another roleplay site where profiles are entirely optional. Even some of the rpers with head honcho characters don't have profiles. I have like fifty characters there and maybe five have profiles. But it is never an issue for us.

Thank you!

When i have my character story and personality its easier for me to RP with him, that way i remember what is his purpose, what drives him I dont have to constantly wonder how he would react couse I have it all written down. Your way may be good too, but I feel it would be hard for me to RP like that, since the character has no real soul, unless of course you have something written down and will share the stories ICly as the time passes.

Right, which is one major reason why people use profiles to begin with. I just don't personally need to rely on a profile in order to view my character as having a soul. Most of my characters exist, live and breathe, in my head, and it doesn't take a sheet with headings and paragraphs of texts for that character to come to life to me. Rather, it just takes conception, some quick notes on Notepad, my imagination and of course actually using that character IC.

For me, most of my information about characters is either kept on Word, arranged in my own personal fashion, or simply in my head. Definitely, in either location, I've got information that just wouldn't be known at that time IC by anyone except for my character, and so it kind of breaks the spell of immersion for me when I then put such info in my profile. Even something as simple as a knife hidden on his person (that I'd only reveal if it came to actual combat so that I avoid the 'pulling something out of thin air' effect) or where he was actually born as opposed to what he tells everyone. Whether the other roleplayer likes to metagame or not, it's just not as fluid to me when they get this kind of info outside of the primary channel, which is of course IC/roleplay.

But, ultimately, I'm saying one thing here and not saying another; I'm saying that I don't want people to get the wrong idea about why my profile is closer to minimum details, which is not due to laziness but my own take on profiles. And what I'm not saying is that profiles, in general, are utterly useless. Overall, I'm not a fan of them, but even on that site I mentioned, I made some profiles out of my own accord and not because I was forced to. They can be beautiful tools for listing character abilities and combat specs, offering character appearance without having to write down in every thread what their eye color is, can offer others an at a glance view to information that has been revealed IC, and can show the site what role they might have in a faction or something, especially if they're a leader. Though where profiles are optional, I get selective about what sections I cover.

Stay tuned for more useless trivia from your friendly neighborhood Shize-Man.

Meets enough of the minimum requirements for me to accept it, I suppose.

Welcome to the Sith, friend.

Thank you, commander. I shall update the profile as I go. 'Bare minimum' is just a starting base until I get some roleplays under my belt. And, who knows, this place may yet convince me to value profiles a lot more.

Marking this character INACTIVE.

I just wasn't getting out of Regin what I wanted to. I don't want to completely wipe him off though. Vintar is crazy enough that I can see him dying soon so, well, there's that.

Also, Regin is in absolutely no active threads at the moment so no harm no foul am I right I am right hey-heyyy!

kthxbi
