Imperial Prison Transport Ship

The conquer of Bastion by the Empire was anything but hard fought. Drexus didn't understand why any Jedi had gone to defend the planet from the tyranny of the Empire. They wouldn't let him go it alone otherwise he would have fought until the end. But here, now, was the chance for redemption. To bring back the good name of the Jedi. To prove he was worth being a part of this Order that welcomed him when they shouldn't have.

The mission on paper was simple: Infiltrate the Prisoner Transport Ship, Secure the Bastion Leaders and other prisoners, Exfil. Now as simple as the instructions were, there was a lot to it that they would have to go through. More than likely disabling shields, concealing themselves or masking themselves, and quite possibly killing Imperial troops. It was a dangerous mission as they were on a prisoner transport ship, it has a good amount of guards, And should they be captured the cells aren't far away.

Arriving to the meeting location Drexus was to meet with the Knight accompanying him on this mission.
"Suppose you're in charge here Knight." Drexus would nod upwards and cross his arms, "So I suppose you have the same brief I do?" The Zabrak looked to the Knight to make sure he wasn't left out on more information.. again. He understood why, but he was here. A part of them, and it sucked to hear that you weren't trusted with all the information just because of your past.

"Once you make the call we'll set out and save those prisoners. The ship should be loading them up right now so we might make it in time to sneak on." Then Drexus smirked, "Or we could take some uniforms off the guards..." His eyes would move to look to Dash. Both fairly good options, though one would require charisma, the other stealth.

"You look thrilled about it chap" Dash smirked, stepping out from under a rock outcropping, relaxing just a little.

He had stiffened at Drexus' approach, never having met the zabrak before, but that was not the only reason. This was his first time back out in the field proper for a while. Dash felt ready, armed and armored for the challenge ahead, but he was wary all the same. He had spent too long tending to what the Order had, it was time to fight for what they had lost.

"Same brief" he nodded, shaking the redskin's hand "just a little bit more info on top". He ran his hand through his newly blonde hair, having died it back from the unnatural white to be a little less striking. He missed the look already, but it was a gift to enemy snipers.

"Apart from being sneaky bastards, our best hope is the prisoners themselves. Some of our brothers and sisters are among them, led by a Nautolan Jedi Knight; Yix". Dash had never met the guy but, if his energetic archive picture was anything to go by, he would have the gusto to break out, with help. "If we can free them, we have a chance of getting everyone out".

Night was falling and lights raked the ridgeline far above them. Soon, the final call for loading would echo over the tannoy.

"I'm afraid there's no we where uniforms are concerned" Dash explained, resisting the urge to smirk again. "We definitely need at least one of us on the inside, but you don't see many Imperial troopers under six foot. Pains me to say it, but I doubt I could carry it off". More likely he would look exactly like an imposter from the outset.

"You on the other hand...". He looked the zabrak up and down unashamedly. Drexus was well over six and stacked. "If you can take one of them quietly you can fill out their armor no problem, and march inside with the rest". If the padawan was up to it, it would put him in the heart of the ship. "I'll circle around and sneak on. If either of us finds a shortarse officer on the ship, then maybe I'll do a costume change too". Dash brushed the arm of his own tailored armor. "Depends if I like their style".

"You ready for this?" He didn't know Drexus well yet, but his archive file was a mess. A tough life. They had a few minutes until the rendeavous window closed and Dash wanted to know his companion was solid. If no one else showed, they were in this together.

“Are we on schedule, Captain?”

“Yes, Commander.”

“Knight-Captain.”

“Yes, Knight-Captain. All loaded up. Cells locked. No hiccups.”

“Good. And their weapons?”

“None aboard this ship. Following in the armory transport, one parsec behind, as you ordered.”

Attaboy. “Thank you, Captain. That will be all. Stay tuned for the order to depart. I have a bad feeling about this.”

Hence her involvement. The handling of Jedi prisoners in general warranted presence from the New Order, and the sooner this was done the better. Resistance on Bastion had been surprisingly feisty for how easily they’d conquered the planet to begin with.

Same with Dubrillion, actually.

So the transport of several confirmed Jedi was no laughing matter. Each prisoners had been suppressed with stuncuffs, a shock collar and a healthy dose of Tranqarest for the voyage. And Merian for security. After Ord Trasi, Moltok, Dubrillion and Mygeeto, the Knight-Captain’s name was starting to gain recognition in the Empire’s Western dominion. When she’d suggested the prisoners’ weapons ought not to travel on the same ship for security, they’d listened.

They’d all breathe easier when this was done. Recent Resistance activity had everyone on edge. Which meant no better timing to rip the wind from their sails.

Merian paced the hallway before the cells, troopers snapping to attention as she did. Seeing the prisoners sedated reassured her, though the Force told her differently. And worst came to worst, they had the kill switch.

“Captain Milech, this is Knight-Captain Sere,” she keyed her comm. “All in order. Cleared for takeoff. We leave now.”

Rhonwen was reviewing a datapad containing information on an ancient artifact relevant to the current mission. The ISB agent was intending to make use of her mandalorian alias and learn from the warrior culture. They had their merits and the Mandalorian Vault was an object of legend she was keen on researching further when this was over. She secured and stowed the datapad for later review.

The Resistance fighter from Bastion were likewise secured. Rhowen would have liked to interrogate Yix but having the nautolan isolated from his comrades and increasing their distance would benefit the intelligence gathering process in the long run. Even onboard the transport, nobody was allowed to share cells and prevented the chance for any collaboration at Rhonwen's direction. The prison transport would carry them safely and quickly to their destination. If anything tried to stop that, then they would have to deal with the Imperial Knight-Captain Sere and Agent Rhonwen along with the crew of the transport and all it had to bear.

Though Rhonwen was wearing her normal ISB uniform she was more well armed than usual. She only carried this much weaponry when pretending to be a mandalorian or some other bruiser. A pair of glop, sonic, and stun grenades were all situated in easy to reach places for the officer. Seeing as none of them were lethal and safe to use in a pressurized ship they were more useful than a thermal detonator in her opinion. But maybe a true mandalorian would disagree. Perhaps most notably though just as inconspicuously were a pair of kyuzo petar situated in sheathes on the small of the woman's back.

A pistol sat on her left hip with her standard issue model on her right already set to stun. Held in place across her broad back by a sling was a scatterblaster, also already set to stun. Each of her weapons could be reloaded three times but the additional ammunition was easy for the muscular chiss to move with. Even quiet and observant as she was Rhonwen tended to draw the eye either due to her blue skin or physique. There was no reason for her to wear her epidermal disguise today and her helmet would hide her facial features anyways.

"I want to have our cargo weighed before take off and again in orbit." Her deep yet feminine voice commanded. If there are stowaways, smuggling, or thievery going on she would know about it. There no better time for a surprise inspection then when people were least expecting it. If everything was accounted for then there would not be a drastic offset of weight. But the delicate sensors of the ship, especially a prison transport would be able to notice hundreds of pounds in additional weight or the loss of significant food stores or other supplies.

She directed her delegating to another officer to work simultaneously. "Run a scan of the local area network onboard." If anyone had electronically tampered with any of the systems onboard then she would find out and take appropriate action.

Jhaa sat opposite Rhonwen before takeoff; she bitterly remembered the lesson on Tatooine to maintain her cover; she was dressed only in black fatigues, with a small pouch that hid her blaster pistol and a corresponding helmet that hid her face, allowing her to pose as a part of the deck technician crew. Hiding her true identity as an ISB agent granted her the ability to move throughout the ship without arousing suspicion from both the prisoners and the crew.

She was able to watch both the loading of the cargo and the prisoners onto the transport, wary an escape attempt was possible; Jhaa was sure to count the number of prisoners being loaded, but the exact weights of the cargo were a bit harder, the disguise made it easier for her to look at the manifest and make the comparison, she found nothing out of the ordinary except for one container that was added at the last minute.

According to the manifest, the container had been added at the last minute; something about it containing rare minerals important for the Empire. Usually, Jhaa would've just shrugged it off, but something was nagging at her. The suspicion was only further fueled by snippets of a conversation she had overhead from the technician crew, "Engineering reports power fluctuations in the security grip."

The rest was drowned out by a squadron of TIE fighters passing overhead.

K'reel grimaced slightly as he finally arrived at the rendezvous point, his eyes flickering as both sets of eye lids blinked upon the two he was here to meet. The first, a blonde humanoid with a baseline indistinguishable from any other human while the second, a Zabrak, stood next to him. He brought a webbed hand up to his chin as he summarized them in their appearence.

"You the two I'm supposed to meet?" He questioned, shifting his blackened cloak to reveal the saber upon his hip. "Infiltration, rescue, and escape. Sounds easy, but it never really is."

The last of his words was more so a self reminder spoken aloud than it was a discussion of the plan that had been laid out to him. And after his last mission, he would hold truer to the Jedi's tenants than improvisation as he usually would. Like the blonde humanoid, he wouldn't likely fit incognito as he likely towered over the both of them in stature. So some improvisation would inevitably be needed. Camouflage wasn't his strongest suite.

"You, Zabrak, do what you will..." He spoke in response to what he overheard upon his approach. "I'll follow the humanoid aboard during lift off. We can make our entrance through the landing gear as the last of the Guards board."

It would be a tight fit for the Karkarodon, but his moist form could likely slip on through with a little strength. His head shifted as he heard the engines come online and the final preparations being made. Turning back to the two, he made an attempt at a smile that would look more dastardly than friendly. "Look like it's now or never."

The doors to the ship closed and sealed the interior securely. The cargo of the prison transport was weighed just as Rhonwen had ordered. Any abnormalities in the standard protocols were reported right away. A scan of the ship’s internal network showed anybody accessing the network or outstanding abnormalities that might raise suspicion. Security around the transport was at an all time high. Without further delay the ship began to take off and ascended into the atmosphere.

Time out has occurred for both @Scoobert and @Alhon . Last Empire post was made over 96 hours ago. Jedi response was expected Wednesday the 27th but it has been at least 48 hours since then. Next post please show characters/team suffer a significant penalty. I didn’t see a request for an extension but let me know if I am mistaken. Next majority timeout will result in a decisive Imperial victory.

Though her round of the cells was complete, Merian lingered. Her own doubts held her back, that nagging feeling in the Force that the trip was about to go sideways.

Through the laser gate, she eyed the unmoving form of Knight Yix, the primary target, like she wanted to catch him moving and confirm her suspicions. As if the augmented dose of tranqarest he’d received hadn’t done anything to him and he was faking his lethargy, waiting for the right moment to somehow escape his cell, arm himself with a blaster from a guard and take on every imperial in the ship singlehandedly.

She wouldn’t allow it.

The transport rocked. They had taken off.

Merian forced herself away from the cells and continued her round. Intellectually, she knew her worries were unfounded, that they’d taken quadruple security measures and that nothing had been reported as off in the slightest. They were even on schedule. But Kalique had brought her to meditate again, to feel the Force, to trust it above all else save maybe the Emperor’s words. Merian had never been so powerful as she was now, following that advice. And the Force was screaming in her ear like an alarm.

Her hand went over her lightsaber, her pistol hanging from the other hip, her hidden knives. Then her comlink.

“All security, Sere speaking. Cells are clear. Nothing to report. Please provide sector update, over.”

Dash gave another start when the broad K'reel shouldered into view. It would normally have felt good to have someone like the Karkarodon on their team, but the guy was not exactly born for stealth. The Rhinnalian agreed keeping him close was the best option and the three of them hurried up the ridge, taking care to keep out of sight until they were ready.

The familiar screech of a TIE fighter squadron somewhere close was the first thing to go wrong. "Shit, they're still running patrols out here" Dash hissed, pressing himself against the rock. The Jedi had expected the Imperials to be more lax, given the ease of their victory. A TIE squadron could spot them before they began, and shoot them out of the sky even if they wrestled control of the transport.

Gingerly working their way up to the ridge, Dash peered over, Drexus by his side. Far from spooling up, the transport was already lifting off the ground. The Imperials were ahead of time.

In desperation, Dash grabbed the rock and made to leap over it, but as the transport lifted the floodlights beyond streaked beneath the hull, beautifully illuminating the crouched Jedi on the ridgeline. The Rhinnalian heard a sentry cry out, he felt the danger as a gun emplacement was turned on him.

Blaster fire split the air, raking the ridge. Dash was small, and fast, but not fast enough. Diving back down, the barren earth behind him exploded under the barrage, rock fragments raking his side and the percussive blast throwing him several feet back down the track. He landed hard, blood in his mouth, dragging himself to his feet.

"It's fucked!" he shouted, coughing "we need to get out! Out now!".

He prayed Drexus and K'Reel weren't hit too. They could make it to their ships hidden in the ravine if they were quick, before the Imperials realised they were anything more than scattered survivors and could scramble resources to investigate.

Following the duo up the ridge, K'reel took extra care to not only limit the view of his size, but given the darker blue hue of his skin, ensure he blended well within the shadows they crept. It was only the passing of the TIE Squadron that posed any real threat of disturbing it in truth, but as it passed, so did the momentum of their mission. It was seemingly over just as it began.

"Seems they weren't as relaxed as we would have thought." Spoke K'reel as his sharkish head peered out of the outcropping rock that hung over him. "This is a bad omen."

For K'reel, it spoke volumes, even as it transpired in the following moments. For his people, common sense was more than common, it was revered and spiritual in aspect. And Karkarodons held a certain sense for series of events. Bad signs, or omens, usually came full circle. And so it did. First with the TIE Squadron, then the Transport, and quickly after, a firefight.

For the initial barrage upon the Ridge's top, K'reel was quick enough to expand his barrier in the Force enough to deflect what came close enough just as he dove behind the outcropping he stood under moments before. And as the trio backpedalled, K'reel's bladework was quick to deflect the rest. But that was not their only threat and K'reel could feel the shift of the Darkside as the TIE Squadron patrolling was just as quickly alerted. The next few moments would decide their fates.

Imbued with the Force, K'reel headed back to his ship.

Drex had admittedly lost his focus in this mission. The ship was massive, there were much more guards than anticipated, and the ship had been setting off faster than they could reach it. The group of Jedi had seemed to also been found out whilst he was lost in his anger for the expected loss of mission. "Damn it. We have to get out of here, the numbers were much higher than anticipated."

The Zabrak would ignite his red blade and begin deflecting any fire that was headed his way. As he did so he fled back to the ship to get out of here.
"Fire up the ship we gotta GO!" Drexus wasn't worried of his life, but for the others he felt responsibility to save them as much as they did him. As he ran a stray blaster bolt would pierce the edge of his shoulder, a little later some shrapnel would fly up and stab him in the leg.

Luckily nothing crippling, but enough to slow him and cause a lot of pain. The TIE Fighters in the air were no joke, and even Drexus wasn't dumb enough to stand fight with aerial ships blasting. He cried out in pain as he was hit, but would try to compose himself and leave the scene. He just hoped the others were doing better than he was.

Unease vanished. The lingering tension in the Force resolved. In some way, Merian knew it. Her eyes returned to the sedated form of Knight Yix, a cruel smile on her lips, finally safe.

“Or perhaps no one will come, after all,” she said aloud.

As if on cue, Captain Milech rang her. “Knight-Captain. Three individuals were driven away from the ship. Likely Resistance. Squads made contact. Shots fired. They’re going in to investigate.”

His voice was worried. He didn’t know.

“Pay them no mind, Captain. Stay the course. Their hope for rescue ends once we enter hyperspace.”

A short silence, like he was thinking it through. “You’re right. Sorry about that. These guys give me the creeps.”

“Hyperspace, Captain.”

“Yes, Sir. Three minutes. Out.”
