Welcome all! This is going to be the OOC for the series of threads surrounding Ryloth that I posted about in this interest check. I'll be updating it periodically with information about the threads, the story, the characters etc who are involved. For the time being, this is going to be the thread for all discussion related to this series, since we'll be taking it a thread at a time.

RYLL TALK​

The notorious shadowport, the Spice Dreamer, has become a permanent fixture on the secretive hyperspace route known as Death Wind Corridor. A notorious alternative for smugglers hoping to avoid the more policed Corellian Run and Manda-Roon hyperlanes, it's also become prime soil or all the illicit activities one expects to find in all the cracks where light doesn't quite manage to shine. Lately, the shadowport has also become a major staging area for the thriving Ryloth slave trade, with the local barons exporting thousands of indentured servants from a variety of species, but most prominently among them the Twi'lek women renowned throughout the galaxy for their beauty.

For one reason or another, you'll have found your way to the Spice Dreamer, perhaps by chance... perhaps by the rumor coursing through certain circles in the underground, whispering that Drusas Valchek, a renowned Twi'lek smuggler, is enlisting help for a big job. Maybe you're enticed by the bounty on Drusas' head, or perhaps the credits he's offering in exchange for services rendered, or maybe... maybe it's that nebulous, uncertain detail that a few parties tack onto the rumor: the word on the HoloNet is that Drusas Valchek wants to butt heads with some of the notorious Ryloth slaver barons over one of their shipments. But one wonders if the smuggler's bit off more than he can chew.

Just updated the second post with a quick dramatis personae I whipped up in photoshop. I'll keep updating it as we truck along.

As for the Jedi, it's fine, as long as you guys can hash out a reason for being there together IC. The story I have in mind won't suffer from a couple extra Force users. :D

OK guys I want some feedback about a thought I had about this whole series of threads. If any of it sounds like a hassle let me know, I'm just thinking about an experiment I might continue with in future plots.

I want to play this a little more like a tabletop in the sense that I'm going to try to appeal as much as possible to the idea that every character is a separate entity. For that matter, you might not all be privy to the same amount of information. I think SWRP is mature enough not to metagame, so I will post about these things in this thread (and link back to them in the first post or something for easy referencing thereafter). However, I want to make it clear that you guys can PM me at any point about a particular detail that you might want to conceal for [x] reason, whether or not your character would be aware of some secret, or an idea for a twist you want to throw in. I want this to be a very communicative effort.

Ideally, I think you guys should actually use the OOC to organize your thoughts about how to continue. I'm going to do my best to make the game as much of a dynamic sandbox as possible, but in order to do that there's going to be a need for some level of coherency. If all 7 characters are approaching the situation from 7 distinct viewpoints without really interacting one with the other, then there's no way the story will be able to continue. Ideally, every post will contribute to the story in some meaningful way. I think that there's a tendency sometimes for people to rely too much on describing what happened in the post before theirs, highlighting what they think about the situation that unfolded there, and not progress the narrative.

If we can do that I think the story will be really rewarding to watch unfold. It's what I'm aiming for anyway.

Sounds good to me, and if we do see any meta we can always point it out, kindly, and get it fixed. I'm certainly guilty of this \/ \/ \/ so I'll try and change my writing style a bit so that it's a bit more contributive and less reactionary.

Wow, very good post, Arclight. You've given me quite a few ideas for how I can continue characterizing Drusas.

I wasn't sure which forum to post it in, actually. I wasn't sure if the arc-like nature made it a more general topic or not.

Nah, its still an OOC for a story thread so it should probably go in story ooc's. General rp ooc is more for like interest checks and the like. Suppose it doesnt really matter now though.

Edit: technically Szazak is a Waste Ranger even though i didnt mention it in my initial post. Maybe Drusas could eventually get more involved with their slave freeing division MOSES?

Hey guys! Your thread looks great! I just wanted to drop in and give you guys a piece of info just in case it affected anything. Up until a very recent attack by a Mando/OLR task force Roon and Death Wind Corridor was mined, quarantined, and patrolled by the Imperial Navy making it a death trap for anyone trying to use it. However, after the attack drove the Empire from Roon Death Wind is open to travel once again, just be aware that until very recently anyone trying to go that way probably wasn't heard of again, so traffic going through it would still be low.

Anyways, that's it, hope you guys have a great time, can't wait to see where you take the thread!
