S8R-D
Summary
This S8R Vector-Class Probe Droid appears typical for its model, with a few exceptions. Its paint is peeling with age and its frostbitten joins squeal a little alongside certain movements. Its geoscanner is a bit chipped, its laser drill sputters, and its enzymer sometimes gives off a smell like burning flint. Its sensor lights change color for various functions and communications, but it tends to rest at a pale violet color that is also reflected in its hologram projector light. Its binary chittering sometimes seems to slur, resembling the whistling of birdsong.
About a decade ago, S8R-D was self-deployed in the far reaches of Krownest after a small miscommunication led to a Mandalorian fleet shooting down an imperial research ship with a faulty navicomputer. Along with a scientist named Dr. Gravan Kite, the escape pod landed in a well-covered valley of pines. Kite lasted longer than he might have without the scientific knowledge of his droid companion but, weaponless and malnourished, the human soon succumbed to the harsh environment and left S8R-D to fulfill its data-gathering directive.
