[Wodan]

It was hot and muggy, peak summer time on the unnamed planet, the moisture hung thick in the air as the small troop of soldiers moved through the river basin. The mud halfway up their shins, making it slow going. They had little in the way of repulsor craft, the expedition having little in the way of backing both financially and with the high brows in the military.

The little troops he had secured was from favours and the little power his family name still had in the galaxy. A single company, one hundred and sixty men along with a few support craft is all that he was allotted for the mission. It was a pitiful amount but the Sith would make it work, this mission was personal to Wodan. The re-founding of his homeland, the world itself fitted well with what the Firrerreo were used to, plus it wasn’t too far from his homeworld anyway.

The problem they had was pirates, as usual the scum and villainy of the galaxy had put itself in the way of civilisation and progress. Wodan turned to look at Luitenant Elatar, he was the only other high ranking Imperial on the mission. “What do we think, I was envisioning a nice house up on the side of the mountain over there looking down on the basin?”

Elatar led around 40 troops in this mission, his platoon had come to be known well by enemies who faced him. The mission he was on was mostly dealing with pirates and helping Wodan with his search. After being asked the question, he turned to look at the Sith and spoke "That sounds nice, I wouldn't be the best source though on that information, my house when I was a kid was the cold hard streets. But yes, that does sound good." Though he was higher ranking than the Acolyte, he didn't act like it, he believed the Sith, even as acolytes, were worth more than ten thousand troops.

The Lieutenant’s reputation as a blunt, straight to the point soldier seemed to be true. The Firrerrian was hoping for a little more than the basic answer he got back from the soldier, but it couldn’t be helped. Wodan’s boots continued to squelch and slurp through the thick mud of the floodplains as they headed towards the Western side of the river basin.

In the distance, Wodan could see the glint of light reflecting off one of their scout bikes. The speed of the man’s return meant only one thing, he had spotted some of the pirate’s. He raised his hand to call all the men to a stop, those on the edges spread out slightly to cover all angles and those with longer range weapon’s watched the hills to the West and East.

It took another minute for the scout bike to reach them. The soldier was covered in dust and mud from the landscape, after a quick snapped salute he gave them his report. “We have found one of the pirate bases Sir. About three clicks up the basin into the hills. It’s a small base on the surface but it clearly leads further into the mountain’s behind. We even saw a pair of heavily armoured freighters land whilst checking the area out.” He gave a little more information on the layout before finishing his report.

Turning to the Lieutenant, Wodan was happy to allow the more experienced man the option of detailing the attack plan. “What do you think is the best way to proceed?”
