The man had tried mumbling a few words about keeping the sword before passing out. Trellin and the Sergeant helped the man to the ground, and the medical team rushed in to assist the man. Van switched his old-fashioned slugthrower to the 'SAFE' position and reholstered it once more. Trellin gave the medical team a few orders and turned to Van to speak. "Try explaining that, I dare you," Trellin said jokingly.

"Oh that isn't even the worst of what I have experienced, trust me," Van said, chuckling. Come to think of it, this almost WAS the worst crime scene he had experienced. Also two of the most random encounters he had ever had occured at the same crime scene. Trellin thanked Van for his assistance, and asked, "Now, what is it we have here?"

"Well, honestly Agent Trellin, this is one of the most bizzare crime scenes I have ever come across. So far what we have, on top of our injured friend over there," Van motioned to the stranger who had the sword, "is a dead woman, Brenna Siegfield, who was decapitated and mutilated. Her boyfriend, whom we have yet to ID, was decapitated and his hands and feet are missing, still can't find 'em. The worst part is Ms. Siegfield's two kids are in there too. You can take a look at them for yourself. The investigators are looking for possible blood that does not belong to our vics, especially around the boyfriend and a back window which was broken. I have investigators interviewing residents from the area. The neighbours who called this in said they heard animal-like roaring coming from the residence during the attack. That's all we have so far," Van summed everything up, succinctly he hoped. It was almost intimidating working with such a skilled and veteran agent.

A trooper approached the two RSF agents. "Agent Pax, Agent Trellin, we have just discovered something you might want to look at." Van looked at Trellin for a half-second then briskly followed the officer. "We found what appears to be thick animal hair caught on the edge of the glass from the broken window...here it is," the trooper stated, handing Van a vacuum-bag with the hair in it.

"Hmmm. Interesting. Let's take a look at the wounds," Van said curiously. He handed the bag to Trellin, "There is something not quite right with this, I'm not sure what it is, but it seems very out of place. What do you think?" Van asked her honest opinion as he approached the body of Brenna Siegfield, inspecting her wounds.

Alex pondered the information Pax was giving her, and poured the situation over a few times in her head once he had given her the lowdown. So far they had very little work with. This crime scene will tell us something more... there's more to be discovered here, she thought to herself. Her prediction was confirmed by a trooper who presented some new evidence to Agent Pax.

"What do you think?" he asked her as she examined the evidence bag.

"Hard to tell," she said, squinting hard at the fur sample. "For a moment I was thinking we may be looking for a Wookie... There was animal-like roaring, yet this is obviously the work of a sentient being, not an animal." She looked over at the eyeless head of Brenna Siegfield. She'd seen similar things in her organized crime days, but these things never failed to give her chills. It was a horrid, evil act... this crime went beyond a simple fight gone wrong, or a murder-robbery. Had that been the case, RSF would never have been called. This murder was far from ordinary; whoever did this was trying to send a message, or had serious rage filled hatred for Ms. Siegfield.

"But were that the case I'd've expected to see more broken furniture, damage to the home structure, ect. Not too mention the lack of forceful trauma." One of the officers gave her a very puzzled look, to which she responded, "I mean there aren't many broken bones... no crushed skulls, no flattened chest cavities. What do you make of the wounds," she asked, kneeling down beside him. "Some sort of blade, or claw?" Alex handed the fur sample to one of the CSI's to be taken back to the RSF labs for analysis. Within a few hours they'd know better what kind of being it came from.

"We should also get a complete statement from the neighbors... they may have some idea who this boyfriend might be, who Ms. Siegfield had dealings with, and so forth."

"That's what I was thinking," Van replied to Alex. "A Wookiee, or any sentient creature similar to that, would have left this place a wreck. But it isn't."

Van leaned in closer to the wounds and retrieved a magnifying tool from the inside of his jacket. He inspected them closely, noting the cleanliness of the cuts, the lack of any serrations in the wounds. "Agent Trellin, it looks as if we are looking for someone with a very sharp, precise tool. If you look at these wounds you can see that they are extremely smooth and each one appears to have done significant damage to the victims, whether to major nerves, organs, veins, and arteries," Van finished, thinking on it. "Also, most, if not all, of these wounds happened before death. Which means who or whatever did this was skilled, and was torturing these people."

Van was disgusted by this crime, but intrigued at the same time. He had done particularly well in the field of traumatology during his studies at the academy, and was happy to put them to use. "You know anyone who could have done this?" Van asked as he moved to the side so Alex could crouch next to the body and view the wounds through the magnifying tool he was holding.

"We should also get a complete statement from the neighbors... they may have some idea who this boyfriend might be, who Ms. Siegfield had dealings with, and so forth."

Van Pax

"Yes, that is very true," Van stated. Even a Wookiee who could control itself would have a very difficult time not disturbing anything in the house or not crushing it's victims. This was something very different. Van leaned disturbingly close to the wounds to examine them. "These wounds, while looking very vicious, are actually very precise. They aren't ragged or torn like you would expect. Whatever instrument was used here, it wasn't claws like those of a Wookiee. It would have to have been a very sharp, very thin blade of some sort," Van stated. He had learned a lot at the academy about biology, what happened to the body after an attack, and had taken some advanced medical classes.

Who would have done this, and why? Van asked himself. Nothing seems to be stolen, the corpses have been mutilated. This was either an extremely well thought out homicide by someone who was completely deranged and intelligent, or someone who had a message. "Yeah let's interview the neighbours some more, maybe walk the next few blocks and see if we can get anything else on our perp."

Alex

"Good observation," Trellin responded, looking closely over Pax's shoulders as he inspected the wounds. She leaned forward and squinted as he described the type of instrument most likely used to inflict the wounds before them, and for a moment she caught the scent of whatever type of soap he used. It caught her off guard, suddenly feeling herself somewhat drawn to this much younger man, and she quickly stood up and walked a few brisk steps up the spiral stairway. She tried to create a mental picture of the blood patterns, thinking perhaps some sort of pattern or story would emerge for her. As she observed the scene, she continued her previous thoughts.

"An interesting dossier crossed my desk the other day," she said, still observing the room as a whole. "The subject was one Dr. Valara "Azakeia" Azarkin... a brilliant trauma surgeon gone out of her mind, so it would seem. She's suspected of a number of killings on Nar Shadaa, primarily self-defense, but also for murdering a psych-ward guard. The prosecutors dropped the charges and the Republic hushed up the story... seems like they dropped the ball on two separate cases; failing to rehabilitate an injured veteran and a brutalized sex-crime victim." Alex exhaled deeply, acknowledging the unfortunate nature of the situation. "White Collar has been looking to bust her for practicing with a suspended license... they know she's practiced on the Nar Shadaa streets, but so far nothing conclusive has come up on Coruscant. We know she's back here, though.

"I just thought of her because of these wounds," Alex continued, having finished her mental snapshot. She descended the staircase once again and rejoined Pax on the ground floor. "Azarkin was a surgeon, and a damned good one at that. When she killed she used a scalpel... making clean, precise incisions such as this. Her kills were quick and efficient, however. Severed nerves, punctured arteries... With a couple slices and stabs, sometimes even just one, she'd bring down anyone that dared mess with her. Obviously the M.O. doesn't fit with this case, but we may be looking for a similar type of weapon."

Agent Pax obviously had more knowledge than she when it came to biology and forensics, and this type of discussion was exactly the situation diversified training between agents was supposed to bring about. While Pax may have been thinking "what may have happened?" during the investigation, Trellin's primary thought had been, "What were they thinking?" Her greatest asset was her ability to understand the minds of criminals, to interview and interrogate, and especially to pick out liars.

"Nice work," she said, nodding approvingly. She could see what he had observed now, but had he not been there, the specificity of the wounds would've been discovered much later, perhaps even days later, and most likely by the medical examiner. "We'll have complete crime scene documentation, so we can come back to this."

The two RSF Agents walked side by side from the primary center of the crime scene, off to find the neighbors, and hopefully more pieces to the brutal puzzle behind them. "What do we know about the neighbors so far?" she asked, hoping to build some basis for the interview.

Burc

Burc walked into the crime scene with a scowl on his face. No body had a job for him. He was supposed to be helping the investigation but no body gave him a kriffing job. He noticed the two RSF agents walking away from the scene. This time armed with his ID and uniform maybe thety would actually accept his help....Maybe. He ran after them yelling "Hey! Whats your name!"

Van Pax

Good observation," Trellin said, peering over Van's shoulder before suddenly heading up the staircase. She began to explain the file of Dr. Azarkin, whom had a couple of screws knocked loose. As Van listened carefully to Trellin, the image of a nutcase slashing her victims up with a scalpel emblazoned itself in his mind.

"That actually sounds exactly like the weapon we are looking for. We will have into Dr. Azarkin, and look into the hospitals and medical school here to see about any suspicious activity. It was a good thing that Trellin was assigned to this case. Van had specialized in forensics, ballistics, basically anything connected with traumatology. Trellin seemed to be more of a people person, while Van had more of an analytical mind for that kind of stuff.

"On the neighbours, so far they are clean on criminal background, seem to make a decent living, and are scared out of their wits," Van said, looking over Trellin. She was a very attractive woman. As soon as the thought entered his head to pushed it aside. This was work, he had to keep focused. "You want to take the lead with them?" Van heard someone yell behind him. It was the merc. "Agent Van Pax, looks like you are here in official capacity?"

Burc

"Unfortunately, yes Agent Pax." Burc said with resentment. "Idiots on site don't know what to do with me. Came to see you guys."

Alex

"I'd be happy to," she answered. They hadn't taken more than a few steps when a familiar voice interrupted them. Alex was hardly surprised, but wondered just who in the RSF administration had authorized this. For a moment she considered making a few calls to find out, but she thought better of it. She had every ounce of authority as Coruscant's Inspector to dismiss him if the need arose, but until then she was willing to let things play out, if only out of weariness and curiosity.

"Mr. Dar Marren," she said, turning around and addressing the mercenary. Suddenly an idea had come to her head. "I tell you what, I've just thought of something I could use your help with. Just outside here there's a mobile trauma unit, and inside a few medics are taking care of a mystery visitor we had while you left. I'd like you to guard him, and guard him carefully. The medics should be finished with sutures soon, and at that time he'll be ready to be woken up. You look like you can handle yourself, but I want you to make sure he's fully restrained. I mean I want wookie-grade cuffs on this mystery man, understand?"

Alex took a step forward towards the man, holding him in a sharp, analytical gaze. "Once he's awake," she continued, "I want you to question him. Find out where he came from, why he was here, and why the hell he didn't stand down on our orders. Use his sedated state to aid you in the interrogation. But you will not–I repeat–will not break RSF protocol for this interrogation." Her last orders cold and sharp: she wanted to make sure it was clear in his military head. The last thing she needed was to have critical evidence thrown out in court due to the reckless tactics of some rookie. She wasn't too worried, though, as she would send a message once he had left to make sure another RSF agent was present for the questioning.

"Everything clear, Dar Marren?" she asked, standing tall next to Pax, and very ready to be done with this and move to the next stage of the investigation.

Burc

Burc made an exaggerated sigh. He gave a quick salute "Yes ma'am." he barked out. "Take all the fun stuff out of it ma'am!" he yelled in a patronizing tone. "Will that be all ma'am?" without waiting for a reply he continued "No, then good evening ma'am
