Senator Starros 'killed in action' as Lothal falls
Dedicated and outspoken Lothalite Senator, Cal Starros, has been killed in action during the invasion of Lothal by hostile Mandalorian forces, the 'Hyperlane Herald' can report. The Senators wife announced the news earlier today, saying that her husband had "died defending the world he had dedicated his life to".
Senator Starros served as his planets representative to the Galactic Senate for three decades, having previously served in the planetary Government of Lothal, prior to which he worked for several years in the Lothalite Planetary Defence Force. An outspoken voice in the Senate, known for his condemnation of the Sith Empire, and robust support for the Jedi Order, Starros was a popular figure on his world, and frequently saw commanding victories in his successive races for Senate.
Starros, who died after being fired upon by multiple assailants in Loth Cities main square, leaves a wife, three children and seven grandchildren to share in the mourning of the citizens of Lothal.
Lothals Government, which has been replaced by the Mandalorians following the invasion in which Senator Starros was killed, has not been able to comment on the matter, with many sources confirming that those not killed in the invasion, are currently in hiding.
He devoted his career to the promotion of Lothal and her people, and to seek to create a unified force on the northernmost borders of the Free World Alliance, against what he considered a 'rising Sith thread'. More recently he was noted to have reopened a Jedi Temple on Lothal, the fate of which is now uncertain, as well as to have supported FWA Senatoe Korre in her successful bid to become Prime Minister.
A long-standing supporter of the individual sovereignty of FWA member states, Starros was a controversial yet popular figure in the Senate itself. Cal Starros was born sixty-nine years ago and was killed in action one day before his seventieth birthday.
