Rayz arrived at the hangar where his Neimoidian shuttle was parked. The ship was just as he had left it aside from a few icicles that had formed on the hull. He then began to make final preparations for departure. The first thing he did was start the primary systems and get the environmental controls on-line as quickly as possible so as to provide warmth and shelter from the bitter cold surrounding the planet of Mygeeto.
Mau arrived shortly after, and she seemed just as miserable as he was with the outside temperature. He chuckled and bid her good morning. She looked at him, said nothing, and proceeded to climb in the shuttle, place her belongings in the cargo area, and then sat right down in the copilot's seat in the right side of the cockpit. Rayz followed behind, closed the hatch doors of the shuttle, and sat next to her in the pilot's chair. Rayz messaged the hangar authority for permission to depart. It was granted immediately and the pair departed the glacial cold of the planet.
Once outside the atmosphere, Rayz set a course for Tatooine and engaged the hyper-drive. As much as he had hated the heat, sand, and wind that he had known on Tatooine in the past, he could see it as nothing but welcoming compared to the frigid climate he had just endured.
During the trip, Rayz and Mau discussed the job at hand. Rayz went over maps he had of Butar's stronghold, explained the least difficult ways to gain entrance, and theorized as to the most likely locations of the guards. Then, after nearly a day of travel time, they finally arrived in the system of Tatooine.
Rayz messaged a worker at a hangar near the outskirts of the township of Anchorhead. He was immediately granted clearance due to his obvious familiarity with the people working there, and he quickly brought the shuttle in for a landing. Although the planet was desolate and for the most part, unimpressive, the fact that Rayz was on the verge of completing a life changing quest made it all seem quite welcoming to him.
The pair began to gather their gear. Rayz said to Mau, "Bring only what you're certain you'll need. We don't want to have to leave anything behind should a swift departure be necessary."
"Are you sure you're up for this," Rayz asked Mau? He felt it would be comforting for both of them to ask the question, even though Rayz was quite certain that she was.[/b]

Mau took her time in answering, securing her blaster on her belt. Satisfied that it was in working order she slipped her vibro staff out of its holder on her back, giving it an expert twirl. The twin blades sliced through the air ominously, sharp and more than ready for what ever grizzly deed she might need them for.

Smirking, she leaned on it carfully and nodded at him.

"Oh yeah. I'm up for it."

"Alright then," said Rayz, "let's get going."

Rayz glanced quickly around the shuttle to make sure that he wasn't forgetting anything. His custom blasters, a pair of thermal detonators, and a few medpacks (just in case) were all secured exactly where they should be in his belt. After the double check, he closed the hatch on the shuttle, locked it, and headed out in to Anchorhead.

"Butar's place is about a half-hour walk from here. There won't likely be many people guarding the entrance, but there's a big damn wall in the way to keep unwanted visitors, like us, out," explained Rayz. "There used to be a hidden entrance around the side though, so that's where we'll start."

Rayz walked at a brisk pace, but Mau gracefully kept up.

Mau kept up as best she could, running what he had told her about the hutt over in her mind.

"Not many guards, mmm? That'll make things easier. But really, a wall... how paranoid can a guy be?" she chuckled softly.

"Don't suppose I can blaim him, though, with people like you after his hide."

"Heh heh," Rayz chuckled. "As far as he knows, his bounty hunters are still trying to kill me. I seriously doubt that he'll be expecting us."

The fortress soon came in to view. Although the walls blended perfectly in color with the sand surrounding it, the height of the barriers was unmistakably a sign that the person behind them didn't want to be bothered by anyone.

The pair approached the walls, carefully avoiding the security cameras placed outside the walls. Their viewing patterns had not changed since the last time Rayz was here, which indicated that Butar was certainly not expecting him. Although, the outer walls and security cameras were only but a fraction of the security that lay before them on the way to the quarters in which Butar resided.

Timing their run perfectly, Rayz and Mau scurried to either side of the hidden entrance that Rayz had spoken of earlier. Pressing as flatly to the walls as possible, the two avoided the sweep of the single camera in that area. After it had passed, Rayz quickly stepped toward the keypad on the wall and entered the pass code for the door. Not unexpected, the code had been changed, but it just so happened that picking locks was a speciality of his, so he pulled his pick kit, and within seconds, the door quietly swung open. The pair slowly crept inside, careful not to get overconfident after getting past only one of many security features that they had yet to encounter...

As they slipped inside, Mau couldn't help but feel slightly nervous. It was a feeling that came before every job, the thought of what would happen if she failed... she never dwelled on it too long. She'd learned early on that to do so was fool hardy.

"You certainly do know what you're doing..." She said in an undertone. "It's nice to have someone with prior knowledge of the building along for a change."

"Well I'd be lying if I said that it happens very often. I worked with this bastard for a long time, and it's not something that I'm exactly proud of. I had plenty of contact with everything in here during my work though, so I guess it had at least a few benefits," said Rayz.

They crept through the inner courtyard, easily slipping past a few Gamorrean sentry guards, and in to a narrow passage near the rear of the building.

"Now if I remember correctly," Rayz whispered, "there should be 2 guards further up in this corridor. I'll take care of them and let you know when it's safe to follow. Until then, stay behind this corner, keep hidden, and watch me for my signal."

Rayz crept up to the corner and watched closely for movement from the guard patrols. Two of them soon walked past, and continued along a wider passageway until they rounded another corner about 15 meters directly to the left of where Rayz and Mau were standing. Rayz took a deep breath, and quickly followed without making a sound. He rolled around the corner where the guards had walked, stood squarely in the middle of the hallway, and fired two shots, hitting each of the guards directly between the eyes. The only noticable sounds made were the hum of Rayz's blaster, and the thud of the guards hitting the floor. Rayz hurriedly motioned to Mau to follow...

Mau waited patiently for him to deal with the guards, clutching her vibro staff in sweaty hands. Had it been any one else, she would have balked at being told to wait. But she trusted him, oddly enough, even if it meant missing out on a fight. And a minor one at that.

She slipped from her hiding spot as he motioned for her, creeping after him.

"We're close, aren't we?"

Rayz smiled, "getting a little anxious, are we? Actually, you're quite right, there are only two corridors left, but getting past them will be a little more difficult."

He picked another lock and opened the door to a corridor that measured about 6 meters wide by 15 meters long. There were no guards in this corridor, but because of the security in this room, there really didn't need to be. The walls and ceiling were mounted with no less than 20 motion sensing security droids which were equipped with two blasters each. Although the droids were powered through the main power supply from the building, they were each endowed with independent thought processes, which meant that they could not be disabled by a single control switch. Instead, they were programmed to recognize only certain persons permitted access beyond the corridor. Needless to say, Rayz was not likely still on that list. He collected his thoughts and took a deep breath as he prepared to dive forward in an attempt to simply roll and blast his way past them. Just before he lept forward though, Mau grabbed his shoulder.

"You have a better idea," he asked?

ooc: sorry this is kind of like an indiana jones movie, i'll try and be a little more original when we get to the good part... :3:

OOC: LOL....

"No, but... it's a bit fool hardy, don't you think? It would be a bit unfortunate if you got blasted up now."

Mau scrutinized the droids with a critical eye. She couldn't see an alternate solution... but she didn't like the idea of just diving through and hoping for the best.

"I don't like it."

"Okay then," said Rayz, "what did you have in mind?"

Rayz was slightly annoyed that Mau didn't feel that he was capable of taking care of the droids, but at the same time, he was slightly flattered as well that she was worried about his safety. He sensed that for some reason that he could not place exactly, she was not worried because of the wealth lying not far beyond the door at the end of this corridor... He sensed that her concerns were centered... elsewhere...

"I'd suggest we decide quickly though," Rayz glanced at his watch, "because those guards from the last hallway are due to report in within the next 12 minutes if the check schedule is the same as it used to be."

"I... I don't know! I didn't have anything in mind, I just don't like it, that's all." She scowled, folding her arms.

"Go on then, give it a go. But if you get killed don't expect me to mourn you."

Rayz smiled again. "Don't kid yourself," he said, "you'd miss me."

He pulled out his second blaster, leaned tight against the wall, and stuck his head around the corner. Pointing both of his blasters at the security droids closest to him, he began firing, knocking 4 of them out before the rest of them began to return fire. Rayz got a few more shots off before the flurry of blaster bolts began pelting the wall that he was hiding behind.

Rayz began to chuckle, and Mau, while huddled behind the wall next to him, looked at him with a what are you thinking expression. Rayz then pulled the two thermal detonators from his belt, activated them, and tossed them both in to the center of the corridor.

He grabbed Mau, and they jumped through the door that they entered through. They fell to the floor, and Rayz instinctively covered Mau to protect her from the blast. The entire area erupted in an inferno of fire, and flames engulfed the corridor that the droids previously guarded.

Rayz whispered to Mau as the flames died down, "See? Nothing at all to worry about."

"You're crazy. Absolutely crazy." Mau pushed him away, shaking her head.

"Good lord, you could have killed us..."

But he didn't. It had been, she couldn't help but think, a pretty good idea. It was the kind of thing she would have done... but she wasn't about to tell him that.

"Madness..."

Not that he would admit it to her, but Rays was really beginning to enjoy Mau's company. He smiled at her comment and said, "That takes care of the tough part, but there'll likely be 4 or 5 guards on the other side of the far door in that corridor."

Rayz led the way through the corridor that they had just left. The reinforced walls were charred, but otherwise undamaged. The droids however, had been completely incinerated. The pair walked to the door leading into Butar's personal chambers. Just as Rayz pulled his pick kit to take care of the door, it quickly slid open, and the duo suddenly had 6 high powered blaster rifles pointed at them. Rayz dropped his pick kit, and slowly began to raise his hands, while watching Mau out of the corner of his eye...

Mau watched him as he dropped his pick kit, thinking fast. She didn't want to 'surrender' no matter how temporary such a thing would be... a straight forward fight was what she'd been waiting for. Of course, she hadn't counted on walking into blasters...

"Bugger it." She followed his example, scowling.

"Looks like that little trick of yours attracted some attention." she murmered.

"Drop your weapons, now," demanded the guard leader!

Rayz slowly reached down to the blasters holstered in his belt, still keeping an eye on Mau. He could sense that she certainly had no intention of surrendering, but she watched him intently to try and figure out what he was planning. Rayz thought to himself, "Let's see what she's really made of."

Rayz began to smile as he continued to slowly reach for his blasters. He turned his head ever so slightly toward Mau, and gave her a wink. That was all the signal that she needed. Without hesitation, she grabbed her blade. At the same time, Rayz quickly withdrew his blasters and rolled behind the crowd. Dumbfounded, the guards were slow to react, and that gave Rayz and Mau all the time they needed...

Mau drove one side of her vibro staff into the nearest guard, feeling a slight glimmer of satisfaction as it tore through the guard's flesh. She pulled the blade free with a violent flourish and slashed at the next, dropping down and aiming a kick at his legs at the same time in a somewhat artful attempt to knock him off his feet. She was lucky; the unprepaired gaurd made easy prey and fell along with the other.

"This is more like it!"

As Rayz rolled behind the group of guards, he burried several blaster bolts into the backs of those bringing up the rear of the group. As they fell lifeless to the floor, Rayz watched in splendor at Mau's talent with her vibro staff. She gave him a sly glance and a grin, then went back to artfully slaughtering the seemingly inept guards. The guards were completely overwhelmed, and had all fallen within minutes. Rayz stood in awe as he watched Mau finish her final stroke with her staff. An extra spin was added for a finale, which Rayz took to be for his benefit. At a loss for words, all Rayz could do was star as Mau stood there, breathing heavily with an unmistakable grin of satisfaction on her face...

"That was fun." Maul flashed him a cocky grin, reaching up to wipe a bead of sweat from her brow. She often said that killing things was what she did best... judging by the way he was staring, he thought so too.

"What's the matter, fly boy? It's rude to stare, you know." She winked.

"I might take offence."

Rayz quickly came to his senses and said, "Let's finish this." He led the way through the final corridor with Mau following close behind. As they rounded the corner at the end of the passageway, he saw Butar, not surprisingly sleeping on his padded pedistal. There were two young female Twilek slaves lying on pads below Butar who quickly came to as Rayz and Mau approached.

"Why don't you two get out of here," said Rayz.

As the frightened girls scurried off, Butar's disgusting gelatinous form began to move. His eyes opened, and he said to Rayz in Huttese, "Ah Rayz, hello. It's been a long time. You owe me a lot of money, you know. For the money you stole from me when you left and for the bounty hunter you killed, it comes to around 84,000 credits."

Butar was suprisingly unafraid of Rayz's presence.

"And who is this tasty treat you've brought with you," asked Butar?

Rayz was beginning to get annoyed, but he glanced at Mau to examine her reaction. He was certain that Mau would take a great deal of offense to being referred to as, a tasty treat...
