And, IMO, Hugh Laurie might be good as Holmes. He was brilliant as House, which is a somewhat similar role.

Reading about it wikipedia, I saw that a lot of House is based of of Sherlock Holmes.

I do agree that Hugh Laurie would essentially play a perfect Holmes and both American and English audiences know of him. But he'd basicly be playing the same character he does in house.

So maybe Downey. Jr will bring something fresh and unexpected to the role.
