Recently on Iego:

"This just in, settlers on Iego have issued a formal SOS, as the Imperial front-lines get closer and closer to the deep core. The S-O-S signal first went up no more than thirteen hours ago where the settlers on the planet reported being under attack, a military strike force was sent to the planet to investigate, though there has been little sign of the team.

Jedi forces commented that the situation was under control and being handled as a priority issue. The S-O-S signal however stopped broadcasting several hours ago, the Jedi intervention team are en route. Though Bismarii Vice Captain of Security Aldurn Vecch say something different on this topic.

That planet is a desolate and dangerous place, trust me, the Jedi going into that hell hole aren't on a rescue mission, it's recovery. Aint nothing down there but corpses... I'd bet my eye on it...

Well, there you have it, more news next hour

~ Holonet Report.

Ignis Vorago sat in a transport Corvette Cruiser// Gunship, as the ship landed, with both himself and four other assorted Jedi, though the team was far from hand picked, it was a response team. The settlement here seemed desolate. Though such was the nature of these things. Whatever was ripping this place to pieces had thirteen hours of free time to do it, though his stomache sank when he saw the devastation.

The Settlers on Iego though armed were not heavily equipped to deal with large or ravenous assaults... and it showed, men woman and children seemed to be ripped to pieces attempting to reach the escape ships. Many of which were gone, and a couple had even crashed back into the surface of the settlement. Chaos lay in the wake of everything, the corpses that could be seen were covered in what looked to be festering wounds which resembled deep claw-marks.

Blood in long streaks coated the ground as the horrific scene panned out, the settlement must have occupied several hundred settlers. Though survivors could be sensed, the panic and fear of the area was thick, almost to the point of being palpable through the force. Ignis immediately drew his force blade, looking to tracks in the sand, they were clawed, mutated and seemingly mammalian... There was something familiar about this place, though he could not put a finger on it...

Okay, students, I want each of you to fan out and scout the perimeter, we'll meet up at the entrance to the city, but first and foremost, sense out all the survivors and tell them to make for the ship, we can shuttle them out, there's only a few dozen of them... I don't sense any hostiles either... yet... ... ...

He spoke loudly and commandingly, looking to the others, beginning to walk to the left, there were two directions, meaning they would have to pair up into teams. The survivors had mostly gathered together in three- four locations, finding them would be easy, and they would more than likely be happy to leave this god forsaken planet.

Ignis could feel the strange powers of Iego wrapping around him, his body stopped ageing, or needing sustenance. Though his sunken tired eyes looked like the Master had seen better days.

It was good to be back on Iego. This was Rathru's home world after all. Though it may seem primitive and harsh to outsiders it was in it's own way a beautiful place. Given more time Rathru would have returned to his clan to spend time with his sister and hear news of the war that his people were locked in from his uncle. However something was rotten here and not simply the festering corpses. Inspecting the clawmarks dug out of a wound Rathru called out to his companions letting his voice carry far enough for both teams to hear.

"Hark - these wounds were made by no Maelibi. Neither my people the Vaalon nor the degenerate barbarians that refer to themselves as the pure clans had stake in this. We are not honourless churls who attack innocent's and they would not leave any of the bodies uneaten. Also the with of the claws are too long and thin."

Rathru removed a gauntlet displaying his golden digits. Certainly sharp enough to slice through flesh but an entirely different shape altogether.

"I shall take the right path whomever wishes to accompany me may. I shall also answer any questions about my beloved world you may have as we proceed as long as we remain vigilant"

The gigantic knight began to stride towards the right wall of the township. On his back his enormous force blade made deep clanging sounds as it struck with the other weapons kept there as well as his paladin pattern armor.

Levi leapt from the shuttle, eager to have the mission under-way. He looked around the derelict city, what his eyes saw was nothing next to the pain he felt in the force, it told a more in-depth story - where he experienced the deaths and suffering of many individual innocents. He was thankful to be here, thankful that he and the others had the ability to heal this wound and help those who had suffered to move on.

He was only a young padawan, incredibly eager and oblivious to so many things, his immature mind moved on quickly and put the suffering behind him. Ignis commanded them to spread out and scan a perimeter, he immediately made his way into the thick of things - not sure where he would be going, ready to secure the safety of the innocent lives he could sense in the midst of the destruction. Before he could move much further, however, he noticed the giant Jedi heading down the right path and heard his offer to tag along. He considered all he knew about confrontation and combat, and deducted that when it came to blows, a warrior of that stature would surely be a marvel to witness, so as he had done so often, he abandoned his previous idea in a second and chased after Rathru, catching up to him and slowing to a walk along his side.

"Hey!" he called out from down below, unaware that the height difference between them was no where near enough to put him out of hearing range "I'll come with you!"

Ben Losan walked down out of the shuttle. He looked around his surroundings, looking over each body in turn. Ben was saddened at the loss of life but he put that down. He was here to put an end to whatever creatures had done this and save future lives. To some people the planet wouldn't be mush for scenery but where Ben came from this would have been considered a place to live. Ben had found this as a chance to test his skills and learn. Ben started out and began searching, looking for anything that could be a clue. One of the other members of the mission had decided to take the left path, never being one to follow, Ben went on the right path.

Raleigh has herd of the Slayers and their exploits in destroying sith spawn across the galaxy. Not being a slayer himself but tagging along as help and inspector of their ways. Raleigh wanted to see them in action and what their line of work looked like. This wish would prove to be a mistake that would hunt him for weeks to come. Following the stern master and leader of the slayers along with the rest of his fellow jedi, he was meeting with a sight only describable as the gates of hell with all beauty devoured by the sight of slaughtered children. In his missions had he never seen such hunting cruelty as this which would only set well with him after several more missions. Watching with outmost horror as he saw the face of a lifeless baby stare at him was like string at a demon sapping his strength and will to go on. That face…that innocent face so horribly betrayed by fate would hunt his dreams and every time he would look upon children.

Shaking in horror and almost puking at how stressed he was at this, fell to his knees and started to spit what puke made it to his mouth wile heavily breathing. Pulling over a water bottle, he drank to clear his throat and mouth before placing his hands on his eyes and silently meditated to take back the sanity that left him in that second. What kind of feral monster would do that to a little infant?! This was truly an abomination that needed to be destroyed! Still, he was a Jedi knight and was a master of self-control. Hearing his Vallon ally leave, he stood back up and rubbed the stress from his face “what kind of evil would so such a thing to this people without mercy? Abomination…my apologies” Raleigh said, breathing hard before one final deep breath.

As actors used masks to hide their true selves from others in their plays, so would Raleigh hide his paternal humanity as his armor came to life and encased his neck and head in adamant protective and computerized plating that would protect him from practically everything that existed. This protection, like all others, was still susceptible to breaking down after considerable trauma which was something Raleigh knew not to be confident about. Armor was just one more layer of protection that a warrior used to survive battle till the end, and both the force and his light saber worked in tandem with it.

Composed and ready to destroy this monster of the dark side, Raleigh followed Ben as he kept check his comlink with everyone was working “all keep your back safe Ben, let’s find the survivors and hunt this monsters” Raleigh said as he kept Gram, his light saber, close at hand specially for its intense cutting capabilities well beyond that of most light sabers. The dragon cleaver was what Raleigh sometimes liked to boast. Whatever was out there, it would surely be easily cleaved with his blade.

A small, furry Jedi stepped out of the transport. He was a Kushiban Jedi named Iroh. Following the group of Jedi, he scanned the landscape. The area had been torn to hell, that much was certain. Before he saw it, Iroh smelled something horrible. It smelled like a body. Sure enough, it was. Iroh remained stoic as he looked at the body. His heart sunk a little when he saw it was a child, but he was very quiet about it.

One of the Jedi began to double over at the sight of the dead body. Iroh rolled his eyes a bit as he patted a hand on the Jedi's back. He didn't really have anything to say. What he wanted to say was that the Jedi would get used to it, but that wasn't the best thing to say, so Iroh remained silent. When the Jedi regained his composure, Iroh said, "I wonder what did this," inspecting the bodies.

There could be a number of things which did this on the Surface of Iego, though I was almost certain it was going to be a Maelebi attack, but Rathru is correct, they bladed hands of whatever did this do not fit their description... Ignis replied before continuing to walk, the team here was carefully chosen, Iroh for speed, Rathru for strength and familiarity, Ignis for experience, Raleigh for force aptitude and support, and Ben and Levi for modularity, as they were both recommended to him...

Though Meanwhile Ignis seemed to be walking alone for the most part as one of them seemed to wish to change direction. To him this seemed, good, it meant he didn't have to wait around for the others, sensing the survivors split into two groups on his way, he broke into a run, the area he was sure was secure of danger flashed past him as he augmented his speed to get to the survivors, locked away in their hiding places. He could hear the comlink between them roar to life as one of them began to talk. He responded with a report.

Group one located and are currently heading back to the ship, I have one more group here and then I'll meet you all in the front courtyard, I doubt there will be as much... death there. Out.

Prying the blocked door open, there was a small amount of yelling and screaming as Ignis opened the door with great effort. Though once they realized it was a Jedi who opened the door, they flooded to him. He explained the situation, told them to run as they saw fit to the medical frigate, their voices would fill the emptiness as Ignis moved forward to the second one. Stepping away from the bodies, his blades still held tightly in his hands, as he moved to the second location, liberating them as well.

Second group located heading to the entrance.

Though as he got there he saw something odd, there were signs of a struggle, though there was little death, there were bodies, of the few soldiers which no doubt protected the compound, blasters and basic plastisteel armour shredded like an alusteel can. Though not all the bodies here were normal, there was a mix of black blood with the blood of the settlers, as well as a single blasted corpse.

Clothed in black with red satin inner lining, long dagger-like claws and mutated limbs, it 'almost' looked like a Rakghoul. but it wasn't, the corpse, unlike the others was not warm, one of its arms was twisted and deformed. Its skin and tendons though leathery and hard were stretched. It was thinner than a Rakghoul, and had spikes over its body as well as non penetrating burn marks to show it was at least blaster resistant. The blood on its hands identified that it had killed, though it looked more like a mutated corpse opposed to a degenerate disease victim. Its organs long ago shut down entirely. Void of life force.

When you get here... I think I found what we're hunting... don't be too long...

After around ten minutes walk Rathru and his fellows found themselves numerous mutilated corpses though none belonging to the attackers. Rathru stopped in the middle of the street his head raised as if listening for something only he could hear.

"Movement in the house to the left. I assume it's human but I am not certain. Cover my flank in case the foe spring an ambush."

With a few strides the Maelibus made his way to the door of the house and when finding the door locked ripped the offending obstacle from the wall displaying very little effort though the obstruction was solid durasteel with heavy bolts. Venturing into the darkness of the house a cry could be heard followed by some very swift talking in a very archaic basic.

Rahtru emerged from the house followed by several women , children and a elderly man.

"At first they suspected an attack from the pure clans - that is the Maelibus who hate humans and view them as food. The villagers attempted to send a message for aid from my people but there is a massive battle going on quite far from here involving almost all the clans and a force could not be dispatched in time in case a surprise raid was launched on our tunnels. The surviving townsfolk realised that it was neither an attack from the Maelibus nor could they expect aid. Thus they hid as best they could. I would wager this either a sith spawn attack or perhaps a plague of the undead. Either way it is extremely dangerous"

Rathru looked to the others to see what they had to say on the matter.

Levi Kahn was delighted to see the women and children file from the house where is large friend had entered just a few minutes ago, they followed shortly behind Rathru, he let his guard down now that the large Jedi Knight was out - he had been keeping watch for any ambush while the other took care of business in the house.

He told Levi the situation, Levi stared blankly barely grasping anything he said - the concept of tribes, wars, foreign names and old hatreds were too complicated for his complacent mind to bother with.

"Hmm. The Sith, I agree" he smiled toward his friend and turned his head to the survivors who stood behind him and waved enthusiastically "I'm Levi Kahn, if you head that way there's a shuttle to take you away" he pointed off in the direction from where they had came "Ignis told us to come back as soon as we could while you were in the house," this last point he directed at Rathru.

Ben came across a door with long scratch marks covering it. He reached out with the Force and searched for any life forms. Ben sensed several inside and tried to pry the door open, it wouldn't budge. So he unclipped his lightsaber from his belt, activated it and the blue blade sprung to life. He brought the blade to the door and cut out a circle big enough to let him in. He stepped though the new entrance and spotted the survivors. "We are here to help you. If you follow the path back, you will reach a medical shuttle." Ben indicated the way that he had come. The survivors came over to Ben and left the building through the hole. Ben began to exit through the opening when he heard a low growl. With his lightsaber still in hand he turned back with his lightsaber in a defensive position.

Raleigh stood behind Ben on the house as he looked at the peculiar claw marks on the walls as they seemed to be from something new if not even the leader of the layers knew nothing about it. Raleigh trusted the Slayers to know much more about these things than he did even though he had seen his share of sith freaks of nature and so trusted to not underestimate something an expert was ignorant of. Looking with an unamused way when Ben carved out a hole that was too short for even him, he pulled out his lightsaber when he suddenly felt the movement of something in the dark. Looking to Ben, he moved his head disapprovingly “come on we have to escort the people into the ship, we can’t fight this things alone. Let’s escort this people and regroup with the others” Raleigh advised as he followed the survivors with his lightsaber at the ready as he kept his senses ready for anything moving besides them.

Herding the people towards the medical ship, Raleigh called on every one by comlink “this is Raleigh, the final civilian group has been found and we are leading them towards the ship. Will be there in a few minutes and we will meet you at the court yard. Over” Raleigh massaged every one as the he almost looked like a shepherd dog herding sheep to safety. Raleigh did not like their situation one bit and preferred to take this on as a team then to be ambushed by whatever lurked in the shadows. At least they had a specimen to study to know what the heck they were dealing with, even though it was dead.

Hoping Ben followed his command and helped him herd the people to safety, Raleigh finally reached the ship with the people as he hoped nothing got inside in their search “I hope the ship is safe, I have seen too many horror suspense films where something horrible sneaks into the ship…over” Raleigh said as he shivered at the thought. Everything was for nothing if the civilians died.

The comlink announced that the last civilian was out. This would be great news if Iroh hadn't seen movement in a house nearby. Iroh approached the house and frowned. The lights were off and the house was practically silent. One hand on his lightsaber, Iroh reached for the door and opened it. A draft of warm air hit him before a putrid wave of stench washed over him. It smelled like rotting. He reached for the light panel. As the lights turned on, they flickered a bit, illuminating the room for a split second. That was all he needed to notice the dried blood caking the floor. The lights turned on again and Iroh inspected the room.

He almost immediately noticed two blood stains. One was a dried blood stain with various bits of gore scattered around. It was a mess. The second was against the wall and a bit on the floor. A rotting body sat where the floor meets the wall. It was too decomposed to know what or who it was. As Iroh entered the room, he used Force Breath to avoid smelling the horrible stench. As he walked in, he noticed broken furniture scattered around the room. As if the bodies and blood didn't give away the sign of a struggle already.

Remembering the movement he saw in the house, Iroh shuddered. What if it wasn't a person? What if it was what did this to these people. Waving the thought off, Iroh continued to inspect the house. The kitchen was ransacked. Various drawers were open and food packages littered the floor. The refrigerator had practically been plundered. A carton of milk had been thrown across the room, where its contents remained, curdling. The meat drawer had been torn open, which caused an avalanche of shelves and food to fall. No meat was in sight, indicating it had already been eaten. Iroh turned to inspect the downstairs bedrooms. Both were relatively untouched.

Iroh began to go upstairs. He kept his hand on his lightsaber, very crept out. There was a locked door, which Iroh knocked on. No answer. He activated his lightsaber and sliced through the door. A safe room had clearly been revealed and locked. Iroh knocked on it. Again, no answer. He detected no life in it either. Again, he cut open the door. This time, he came to a relatively fresh body. The body was slouched against the wall. It was a human male with various pills and bleach near him. Suicide. The body's feet, arms, and lower back were purple while the rest of the body was pale. The livor mortis indicated it was maybe a few hours old. A note had been etched out and was taped near to the wall. Iroh picked it up and read it.

There were too many. They swarmed the room. Couldn't get out for days. Couldn't live with the realization that my wife and son had been killed by those things. If they're not here when I'm found, please look for them. They look like this.

Several creatures had been taped under it with a very odd appearance. Iroh tapped his comlink. "Hey, guys, I found something interesting that you may want to see."

It was at that single fated moment as the sun hit the horizon of the hills eclipsing the area in shadow that he heard a monstrous cry. Though, standing at the cities gates facing out, it did not come from behind him, but from the wilderness. He felt it, figures, entities, running, as fast as wild beasts. Though he felt no life force from them... as if they were... already dead.

Thoughts ran through his mind about what these things could be, they felt no different from the deceased one on the ground, but that could not be right. Could it?

Jedi, we're under attack, fall back to defensive positions and be ready, they're coming!

With that Ignis put all of his focus on the force and began to run back to the group, the medical ship they came on would not be accurate enough to hit these targets with its guns, so such a plan was pointless. Ignis drew both of his blades and felt the calm of their light side power flow over them, then a switch clicked in his mind. From behind ignis they came, no more than sixty meters behind and gaining, like a cheetah catching up to a gazelle.

Their cloaks up and maws of deformed, warped and extended teeth coming from their mouths, long daggerlike claws on their hands as well as their feet, each of them standing seven foot tall, and ten of them. Their bone was reinforced with the force, only now in a loving specimen would it be able to be felt, thus their ability to cleave the armour and resist the blasts of the settlers, the eyeless, mutated creatures hunted by scent and sound in their deadly, ferocious pack.

The Jedi master fled from them, back to the group where they would hopefully be rounding up for a fight. Now almost able to feel the breath of the first one on the back of his neck, hoping and praying to the force he ran past one of the Jedi soon, hoping they could get this thing of his tail. Ignis' natural speed simply did not seem to be enough to outrun their long springlike legs.

Though the undead rose from their graves twisted in death and bearing the stink of the pit Rathru knew no fear.

"Tenere homines hodie nos componant dignus proelium carmen pro gloria ASHLA!

With the swift motion of one intimately versed in battle Rathru's hand gripped the handle of his gun Jötunn. Crafted specially for the Maelibus it was not an especially accurate weapon nor was it's rate of fire anything to hold in awe. However the calibre of the gun's ammunition was comparable to a high powered sniper rifle round making it highly effective against 'freak' class opponents.

Moving back to the rally point Rathru aimed up the gun and in succession fired several rounds at the oncoming revenants. Each resounded with a noise like thunder and would cause SEVERE damage to anything they hit.
